This game is soaked in an atmosphere that'll stay with you long after you have finished it. A wonderful depiction of a strange, dying world, both outside and within. A silent apocalypse of the soul.

beautiful and haunted and not quite hopeless
you should play fallow.
if not for its story and unique masterfully crafted atmosphere, then just for it's music (you should check out ada rooks music regardless by the way). this is no surprise seeing as ada roook is primarily a musician. she simply gets it . fallow is a game that much like the rest of her work, is completely uninvested in convincing you that any of the characters are good people. which isnt too different from other pieces of media, but is especially refreshing in the case of fallow and adas other works because they are focussed on people who are often self described as "sick" i planned on writing a whole review but honestly, you should just go play fallow
Amazing.
I think your opinion on this game is gonna be heavily influenced by your life experiences, it’s a game with a very personal story. I love Fallow, it put a lot of difficult feelings that I could never describe into words, I cried a couple of times while playing it.
any 5 hour long game can be extended to over double its length if youre both a dumbass and scared to miss any cool secrets. got lost many times but it was worth every second! gorgeous art and captivating story, plus a soundtrack that ive easily listened to separately at least five times. this is the kind of story you gotta let yourself sit with, bleak yet hopeful, loving yet cruel, vulnerable in a deeply resonating way-- with an ending im gonna be thinking about for a while, it does not hold back putting you in isabellines shoes i have a soft spot for rpgmaker games, and this has made it to my favourites. thanks ada!
A hidden gem of a game. It's somewhere in the realm of Yume Nikki/Earthbound-like games, but without the horror and gonzo weirdness. There is some horror here, actually; however, it comes from the fact that your only companions are giant dead worms and seemingly sentient alien trees (which might be less alien than they look). Somewhere there's a statement to be made about femininity, love and a simpler life, but it's very subtle, benefitting from multiple playthroughs. Which is a great thing; there are many suggestions and no clear answer to your situation. You're in a countdown to the end of the world, but why? Where has everyone gone? Who are these aliens? The game also has a very interesting coda/endgame area, and some secret areas with purposefully glitchy cut content. Anyhow, "Fallow" is indeed art: a mixture of Faulkner-esque setting and complexity, an intimate alt-country soundtrack and haunting femaleness.
Huh, it may be too obvious to say that this is about trans women. there is something in these characters.... these characters, despite not much else being clear hate themselves,, idk ,,,,,, watch castration movie, read ho chi mihn, listen to EMTIONAL LABOR podcast dont ♥♥♥
