I was a little frustrated over the announcement of this game, because it just seemed like a quick cash and grab due to how similar it is to Winkeltje. I played quite a bit of Winkeltje as a cosy game and it was quite enjoyable. This game is enjoyable, especially for having an Early Access tag. I just hope that the developers listen to the community and further flesh out their sequel. In comparison to the previous game, I like the fact that there is a little more world exploration as the previous game felt a little too static, whereas this world feels more lived in. Having a garden plot in a separate zone is a bit more true to an allotment. However, I feel that it would be better to give the players the choice to use the allotment or arrange the plants in a garden behind the shop as it was done previously. Like with plants, I would like more options for collecting raw resources for crafting, because it feels a bit limited at the moment and can be pure luck when waiting for the trader to receive a hefty discount. I would also enjoy more emphasis on creating your dream workshop in comparison to the previous title, because I would prefer to specialise in a specific category of merchandise rather than being heckled by customers for not having a specific product that I had at the start of the game before I got some footing to build out my inventory.

Great addictive little game. Has a lot more depth than I expected and I highly recommendit for what it is.. Though I do wish there was more to arranging stock. And crafting seems chaotic so some requirements or structure around that could help. Additionally, guidelines for things like employees - I wasn't even aware I had hit a point of being able to hire someone, now I'm half way through level 25 and still haven'tbeen able to hire a second, with no idea when that will be. Though there are said to be 2 availables hiring slots per week - with nothing in game to tell me what day of the week it is to begin with, never mind when a week has passed by. Other minor changes like the ability to fully unstock displays, or the ability to choose whether to 'restock any' metal variation, could also greatly improve gameplay. But this is early access and there's no doubt going to be alot of changes and growth with it so really excited to see what the future holds. Have to applaud the overall effort thus far 👏🏼
lack in everypart of the game vs previous game
The top negative review says "this game looks just like the original, isn't it a sequel? Shouldn't it be different?" while also saying "There's a new trading stall to trade, why need a house? Why need a town? The original was charming because it was only a shop you had to run." So, it's different? lol Anyway I found that amusing. I haven't played a whole lot of it yet but from what I have played it's well on its way. It's a lot like the original game but has some added mechanics, such as a town you can visit and a home you live in. It's cute and relaxing. If you enjoyed the original playstyle of the first I think you'll like this one too.
The creators of Winkeltje are working hard to bring us a worthy successor. Faire Trade is still baking but is coming along very well! It is a good game in a basic formula. More features are in the works and this is looking like an excellent game when it finishes early access.
This is a really chill, cozy shop game. Definitely a nice upgrade from the OG Winkeltje. Love the large amount of craftable items. Looking forward to more expansions to craftable/farmable items (Chamomile) with future updates and more season-related decorative items since those are really cute. Great work so far, especially for such a low price!
Wem "Winkeltje" gefallen hat, dem wir auch Faire Trade Spaß machen. Nettes, kleines Game mit interessanter Mechanik und vielen Möglichkeiten seinen eigenen Traumladen zu gestalten
Currently, the game is quite underbaked. I do think some people will like it once the game has progressed further, but I don't recommend buying it in its current state if you want it as a game to play now. I like the general vibe, and I think it will be a worthwhile purchase eventually. It is mostly playable in the sense that the base functionality works, there's just a lot of issues and it feels very empty. The gameplay loop consists of checking what types of items will sell the best that day, buying any materials for crafting that you need, placing items out to sell, and opening the shop for customers. The customers buy stuff and leave. At the end of the day your shop closes and your staff (if you've hired any) go home. You can do more buying, crafting, make any changes you want to your shop, and then you go to bed and start it over the next day. There are events that happen throughout the year that influence prices and availability of ingredients. You can also have a garden and grow some ingredients yourself. This game is a bit empty compared to how most modern games are designed, and while some of that is due to it being early access, I think it's also the intended general design choice of the game. It kind of grows on you, so I'm not saying this as a complaint, but it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea. It's very quiet and nothing really happens, and sometimes that is nice. You can make your own rules about what items you sell, decide what type of crafting (if any) you want to do, be a gardener, baker, etc, but the game isn't really going to engage with you in response to those decisions so it's up to you. The game kind of punishes you for not being well rounded as well, due to the way prices fluctuate. I recommend *not* trying to specialize, unless you are okay with your progress being slower. The difference between being able to take advantage of the fluctuations in the market vs always selling the same type of items is huge. Assuming the best faith I can muster in regards to how this game will progress, you may like this game if you like no-pressure shop keeping simulators, designing and decorating the shop, and watching the market prices to make the most money you can. The empty world doesn't bother you, as you just want to run your shop. Judging early access games can be really tricky. I feel guilty doing it because I think the devs will improve the game, but for now I have to mark it as not recommended. I will change that once sufficient updates are released.
I was pretty excited when I got this gifted to me, because I love a good shop simulator, but I couldn't even get past the tutorial. It was quite difficult as all it would say is something like "Craft this thing" or "Go here" but did not explain how to craft, where to get the ingredients to craft said thing, and no other indication as to where you had to go without running around aimlessly. Took me a hot minute to find who I need to look for in town, but since you can't angle the camera to look around in front of you, you're quite limited. I wanted to love this game, but if I got frustrated during the tutorial then that's it for me. Went ahead and refunded.
