Game is simple and unbalanced. Low level items will give you only loss when doing sales, as cost of factory worker and sales person will be at least 240/month, and production will provide far less money. That means that you have to push for higher techs to earn money, but all your starting guys have skill 1 or sometimes skill 2, so you have to work with them for a long time at loss, until they skill up. Then you can start selling items that give you some income or at least break even. To earn some extra money, there are contracts. Contracts are totally random, and most of the time you will see contract for level 7 - very high item, while still producing nails. Also, you can take out whatever amount of loans you want, so you can cover any losses you will have. Overall - meh, there are so many more balanced games. 5/10.
Factory Manager is a simple business tycoon game with the very dry premise of running a factory, presented in a kind of 1990's browser game aesthetic (that's definitely not going to win any prizes). Gameplay consists of trying to keep your head above water and your factory in the black, by producing things of increasingly complex nature and selling them for what little profits you have, and fulfilling contracts which are random and difficult. There's no reason such an idea can't work, other games have taken this premise and done well with it. Here, unfortunately, poor technical delivery is matched with poor game design and balance choices, as the game is needlessly difficult for the target audience of people who just want to build, grow and progress casually. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic low quality art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the mediocre 2D visuals. Problematically, the user interface for this game is just a 2D text heavy panel with a few static images... it might as well be a browser game. And we all know, Steam isn't here to compete with Chrome and Firefox. If the game can be done in a web browser, it's just not rich or compelling enough to appeal to serious gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Factory Manager is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. If you're looking for a decent factory game, you can try games like Factorio, or for a more casual experience, Little Big Workshop.
I often find these simulation games rather amusing, and this was no exception. Unfortunately this game suffers f rom whath feels like severe balance issues. You're barely able to scrape a profit with the low tech items, and as you expand to take advantage of the higher tier items their price just tanks and raw materials soar. So essentially you become a car parts manufacturing wannabe with increasingly larger cycles of debt hoping to break through and survive until you can make an actual car. Whether it is worth it in the end I don't' know, but would imagine the price of cars would simply tank rendering most of your investment worthless. I suppose you could take a much slower approach, but the commodity price tanking and raw resource inflation is still very much present at lower levels so you're stuck scraping a barrel.
Well, this is a nice tycoon game for 5 bucks. You have some freedom, some borders. You can play it and understand the basics of production business. Yes, it's a bit clunky, yes, it's a bit short on graphics. But you really think about that, buying tycoon game? Me neither.
It's a decent game for its price. I find it easy to learn and easy to play. If you need something to spend 5$ for, like for night or two - this game can be your choice.
Not a bad game for the $5 which I paid.
