Review for F.E.A.R. because as a German I can't access its store page: FEAR: This game crashed on launch and had a terrible and unplayable framerate on my PC. You have to manually apply some unofficial fixes first to be able to enjoy it. Very good atmosphere and moment to moment gameplay. Guns feel powerful because of the sound design, ragdolls and particle effects. Every time you shoot or throw a grenade into a room stuff gets destroyed and smoke thrown up into the air, making the environment feel way more reactive and realistic than in most modern shooters. The game could have been a bit harder in my opinion. Also it wasn’t as scary as expected from what I have heard beforehand. The game is rather short and very linear but that didn’t really bother me personally. FEAR Extraction Point: Poor technical state just like the base game. Bad performance and frequent crashes are part of the experience. At one point my save game got corrupted which is apparently a common issue. I tried many fixes but could only continue by downloading and using a save file from someone else. This DLC is just more of the base game but the focus is on the gameplay. There are also some sections where you have a companion in combat. I think there is also a new weapon that wasn’t in the base game. Overall the DLC felt way more challenging than the base game. There is way less story than in the base game and it doesn’t really add anything. Only play this if you want more of the same gameplay. Also save often! FEAR Perseus Mandate: Better technical state than Extraction Point. I only encountered one crash when I alt-tabbed and didn’t have any performance issues. Just like Extraction Point, Perseus Mandate is just more of the base game but the focus is more on the gameplay than on story or the horror segments. There are also new weapons in addition to the new ones from Extraction Point. There are also multiple boss fights which is a nice addition. Overall Perseus Mandate felt like a more worthy addition to F.E.A.R. than Extraction Point. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin Having recently played F.E.A.R. with all its DLCs I was a bit disappointed with this sequel. While the game is in a better technical state and it didn’t crash even once and doesn’t require any unofficial fixes to run in the first place, it was still technically lacking in many ways compared to its predecessor. For example the sound volume is ridiculously low even on the highest setting, you can’t change fov and the sensitivity is way to high even on the lowest setting. The core gameplay feels like a downgrade in almost any way. Movement feels more sluggish and janky and you can’t lean around corners anymore. Resource management is less important because you find more pickups and have a smaller carrying capacity. Gunplay is way worse. The recoil feels very artificial and bad. Hit feedback is also worse. The special weapons are less interesting. Project Origin is also less scary and the lore bits that you can find aren’t voiced anymore. I also liked the artstyle of F.E.A.R. more. Furthermore the overall runtime of the game is shorter than the original, even without the DLCs. The only redeeming qualities that I can think of are the presentation and some of the set pieces. Overall it feels like they focused more on console than on the PC version of the game, chasing after the COD audience. The game was still enjoyable though. It’s just a shame that it was worse than the original in almost every way.

Very cool game i love it
Oh my God, there's so many valves. There's so many buttons. So what am I, the button pusher? F.E.A.R. 2 takes as many steps backward as it does forward, never really going anywhere. The graphics are better, but firefights are less bombastic. Grenades are wet farts instead of miniature earthquakes. Save for a few set-pieces, the flashlight is infinite, and it detracts from any sort of horror. The level design within the first few intervals doesn't let the AI breathe. It turns the game into, quite literally, a corridor shooter. Nevertheless, there is much to like if you're not actively looking for things to hate. When the game gets into its stride, it's quite a good time: the elementary school level is particularly detailed, and is reminiscent of Extraction Point's horror, right down to the flickering lights. The first tram level near the end of the game, where you have to battle Replicas on an adjacent, shifting tram, is quite exciting. If you played F.E.A.R. just for the gunplay, there's not much more here for you. if you liked the story too, and the world as a whole, consider playing F.E.A.R. 2.
