this game is honestly a ton of fun, adding more scenarios more passives/actives will only improve it! more content and DLC! this is a great game
Fun little take on the usual 'horrific virus destroys world' simulator. Mainly because you can drop all sorts of fantastically terrifying disasters on the planet. It takes some time to trial-error the various systems and UI, but once you get the hang of it, destroying humanity has never been so fun. Plus it has a zoom mode, so you can literally drop tornados and meteors with delightful precision. YOU HEAR THAT MIKE? I'M DROPPING METEORS ON YOUR HOME TOWN. AND I'LL KEEP DOING IT! FORGET MY BIRTHDAY WILL YOU JER- Ahem. Sorry. Yes. Solid disaster simulator. Turn all those lil milling people icons into gravestones. Laugh maniacally while doing it for full effect.
Translation provided by ai. The original Chinese text is attached below. Please refer to the original version if there are any ambiguities.I’ve put about 40–50 hours into Extinction Day (by DryGin Studios). I’ve fully completed all campaigns, all challenges, and unlocked every achievement within the first few days after they went live. I’d like to share some personal feedback. First, I feel the content and disaster upgrades are too few and messy. The upgrade system is disorganized, with all 强化 effects split off into separate nodes. We have volcanoes and storms, but also things like tempests and tornado swarms. Splitting them into active/passive is fine, but I think all active disasters could come with certain secondary passive effects. You could also add upgrades that boost the impact of two disasters in the same region, and give off‑map upgrades a more noticeable presence. Right now these systems overlap too much with the “Influence” mechanic. While individual disasters can have plenty of upgrade boosters, they take up way too much space. You could even add small, disaster‑specific upgrades within the Influence tree—this would make Influence feel more necessary, instead of just picking one off‑map upgrade for speedruns. Second, off‑map upgrades are too rigid and limited. You could turn some custom game variables into minor off‑map bonuses, and add playstyle‑specific upgrades for each disaster type—like enhancing passive effects of passive disasters, or a “good luck” boost for zombies. This would give players more build diversity and dynamic runs. You can explore this more yourselves; for example, certain skill paths could naturally lean into these bonuses. Your existing off‑map upgrades (like reduced alert level) already enable different playstyles, so this would fit well. Third, there are too few easter eggs. The ones you have are overt, which lowers the entry barrier—good—but they’re all challenge‑focused. There’s nothing for casual fun. For example, I once unleashed a volcano in the Arctic; an achievement like “Arctic Meltdown” would be awesome. Another time I kept dropping meteorites on the Caribbean until everyone was dead—an achievement like “Pierce the Planet” would feel great. Right now achievements like “100k Blood” or “Terminate North America in X Days” are too stressful, and they kill the fun factor for many players. Fourth, challenges are too easy. I beat most of them at level 10–15, and even the harder ones only took a few tries. There’s no real challenge. I’d love to see higher difficulty tiers, and maybe one‑attempt challenges that can’t be replayed. Now that I’m level 30, I can’t find anything that feels relaxed yet engaging. Please make the current difficulties Tier 1 / Tier 2, then add Tier 3 and Tier 4 above them. Fifth, some small quality‑of‑life suggestions: In custom challenges, let us bind keyboard keys to percentage values. Right now you can only manually drag up to 500%, which is tedious and hurts your hand if you want higher values. Label disaster types clearly—e.g., mark “Natural Disaster” or “Biological Disaster” in the corner of the icon. It would help us quickly tell which disasters belong to which category. Further separate active vs. passive disasters, as I mentioned earlier. For example, keep both Tornado and Tornado Swarm under storms. Earthquakes and volcanoes are closely tied to geology, but since we’re already using “mysterious powers” to spawn disasters, you can be more creative here. Prioritize realistic disaster progressions before supernatural ones. We love zombie viruses and fantasy disasters—they’re super fun—but we’d also like more realistic disasters first: tsunamis, wildfires, earthquakes, floods, landslides, hailstorms, drought leading to famine, extreme heat, etc. These could be designed as disaster cards that you “attach” to regions—e.g., apply Extreme Heat to cities in North America, altering their environmental stats. Having active, passive, and persistent environmental cards would drastically increase depth—similar to your “Rapid Harvest” mechanic. Then you can slowly add more wild stuff: ape rampages, vampires, demons, alien invasions, etc. The reason we want realistic ones first is immersion. Imagine a zombie outbreak combined with extreme heat/cold or food shortages—it feels way more alive than just zombies or vampires alone. It also changes regional dynamics and opens up new strategies. Add a “no‑additional‑challenges” mode for 4‑star disaster completions. Once you fully max out a disaster type, unlock a special standalone level for that disaster—with buffs like increased energy or longer drop intervals—so we can replay and master it without forced constraints like “deal X damage in civil war” or “keep alert low.” These could be optional: main objectives like Level 2, secondary conditions like Level 3, or pure “kill all humans” mode with no requirements. Expand the Ark system. Right now it only speeds up research and evacuation. Add more disaster cards tied to the Ark—like the extreme heat I mentioned earlier—or new chaos effects: radical rebel groups, spies, increased unrest, reduced countermeasure chance, etc. Later, if you add alien invasions, these factions could even fight back—just balance their ground impact so they don’t overshadow disasters. This is just brainstorming; there’s lots of potential—even passive disasters like fake news triggering civil unrest would be cool. Keep up the great work! I’m a huge fan of disaster sims—I’ve put countless hours into games like Plague Inc. and Quarantine Zone. It’s rare to find a game that brings everything together so well and with such polish. I’d love to see a dual perspective mode like “Doctor vs. Reaper” in a future update. Keep going! Quick question: Is level 3 the max for off‑map upgrades?
Love the setup and seeing all the little guys die. Really solid systems with a lot of replayability once you understand the deeper mechanics. The combo of viruses and volcanos is so satisfying!!
I genuinely do not understand why you have to beat stage 2 on every difficulty before moving on to stage 3. I was having a decent time, but doing the same thing over and over again is not interesting. Also, why bother with difficulty settings if they aren't optional? Baffling choice. Otherwise it's fine. Not spectacular, but not bad. Kind of mixed on whether to put thumbs up or down here, but since the mentioned design choice is sapping my will to play the game, I'll go with down.
