A much better game than most people think. Has enough entertainment for hundreds of hours. But only if you are into that type of a game - with careful planning, preparing everything ahead and the making the trip. You can't change trucks or their loadout in the field, so plan ahead. It's not like SnowRunner. where you can go off the mission any time and can finish it later. Here, if you can't do an expedition in one trip - you can't start another one. Yes, you can take a pause, but when you return, you'll have to pick up from where you left. More fun this way, imo. Various gadgets help, as well as base buildings. Cargo drone and helicopter pad are a must though. With them, you can instantly deliver supplies to you from the outpost - or even whole trucks. This game makes scouting so much fun that I don't want to do it in SnowRunner. When I go back there, I miss my anchors, jack-screws, drones, binoculars, tire deflation and the ability to slack the winch. This game has all these features, but almost no cargo hauling (except small parcels), so don't expect it to be like a sequel to SR.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game is great (i recommend only purchasing when on sale since $40 is a big pill to swallow for a game that has stopped receiving updates and has expansion dlc locked behind a paywall), but it should not have mudrunner anywhere near its name. It isn't mudrunner, and never will be, it's about exploration, not cargo delivery (whoever thought it was a good idea to attach that name to this game may have singlehandedly ruined its fate). They did this game an injustice by adding mudrunner to the name, creating false hopes and expectations that it was not equipped or designed to meet. Mudrunner and Snowrunner are the games to seek if the goal is to haul various heavy loads through off-highway terrain. This game, in my opinion, offers better vehicle feel, and terrain simulation. It's for people who like driving off-road, dredging through mud, in overall smaller vehicles. It's for people who actually like using scouts in snowrunner, but they feel more capable in this game, better represented. As a standalone, this game is great, but as an entry into the "runner" series, it's god awful, but it isn't and and shouldn't be represented as that, so just understand what your getting into. It's a shame this game was neutered from the start, but it can't be helped at this point.
I stayed away from this game because of the reviews for way too long. I have several hundred hours in Snowrunner and didn't want a cheap knock off (even from the same company). To me, this game is entirely worth playing. I really think if they would have called it Snowrunner: Scout, people would have known what they were getting into and had a much better opinion of the game. The maps are great, the customization of trucks is actually expanded from from snowrunner and is more meaningful in a lot of ways, given that external features can actually provide more protection, you can put a little gas tank on certain bumpers, you need batteries for certain add-ons, etc. My only complaint would be that they abandoned the purely open world aspect of Snowrunner which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It's not the end of the world, but I don't understand what having to "go back to headquarters" for all missions and customization offers over the garage system in Snowrunner. It can be frustrating to need one thing on one truck, but have to completely end and restart the mission because returning to headquarters ends the expedition. That being said I have just as much fun with this game as I do in Snowrunner. You just need to know that you will be scouting 99% of the time.
As another review said, good ideas poorly implemented. A game about exploration, but which the developers did their best to limit exploration as much as possible. You can't go off and explore that thing in the distance which looks interesting, because you'll likely run out of fuel (vehicles in this game use a LOT of fuel). And -- unlike Snowrunner -- unless you plan ahead of time how much fuel you will need, you'll have no way to refuel your trucks. Planning ahead can be sort of difficult, since the very definition of exploration is going out on the unknown to find out cool things. There's no option to mount a "rescue expedition" like you could in Snowrunner, because in this game, once you leave a map, all of your progress is reset -- your mission goals, your trucks, your hooks, etc. The only persistent things are the paid bases upgrades. This, ironically, makes this exploration game less about exploration than its predecessor. If you really want to scratch that exploration itch, I'd still recommend Snowrunner and its DLCs.
Can't recommend Saber Interactive games atm. Undisclosed AI use and transphobic comments by the CEO. Maybe if they cut the dead weight I'll change my tune.
For a game supposedly about expedition and exploration, there is barely any exploration in it. You play in an open world / open area, and yet the objectives are very handholdy and straight forward. You reach the destination, take the goal item, and then just teleports back to base instead of going back manually? Where's the fun in that? There are upgrades hidden in the nooks and crannies, but I should be getting them in freeroam? The game wants me to finish their list of missions, not explore and find upgrades. So with all that, I unfortunately can't recommend the game.
So, I love snowrunner and the challenges it presents, but I do have a few problems. One of the biggest problems is the vehicles don't feel like they have much weight, and the smaller the vehicle the more they bounce around. Expiditions is a game where you're only given the scouts from snowrunner, the smallest class of vehicle, and asked to perform missions. The problem with this is the physics engine appears to be the same one from Snowrunner, and since your forced to use the light vehicles, you bounce, slide and roll like you're driving something made of rubber, not tons of steel. When you're traveling across a road, even if you're not at full throttle, the vehicles have a habit of fishtailing and losing control. It's a very frustrating experience. Even with these physics issues the game it would have been fine if the missions hadn't been handled so poorly, and the new devices had been more helpful. Unforutnately the missions I've played so far have all been 'Go to point, explore entire circle, drive back' with some minigames sprinked through that make the experience worse, not better. Everything I do feels like busy work, instead of actual jobs like in snowrunner. This is made worse by the fact that you can't set these expiditions while IN the mission, they're selected in the menu and you get kicked out once your done. I assume this is because you're given limited fuel inside the map, but honestly? It feels clunky and unfun to deal with. Add to that the fact that they added devices and employees, two things that should have improved gameplay, but unfortunately they go from feeling useless, to being completely frustrating to use. Employees add passive bonuses, that I completely forget about 90% of the time, items can do stuff like right your vehicle when you flip, but 75% of the time I can't find a valid place to put my car unless it's high enough in the air to do major damage when it lands, and finally, there are devices which you have at all time and are only partially useful. The sonar that tells you the depth of water and mud, great. The drone that's slow and just gets you a very minor change of view? Useless. I think this game could have been fun, there are some good ideas in it, but unfortuantely they were badly implemented and built on top of an engine that doesn't work for the scale of vehicles used. If you want a good driving sim, then get snowrunner. The system works better for heavier vehicles, and being on the map for an extended time makes the game feel more alive
play Spintires instead of this wallet milking trash
