I don't get the hate. I prefer this to SnowRunner, and here's why. SnowRunner is about hauling cargo from A to B, and you do this over and over again. There's limited routes to take, and very specific, more efficient routes that you will always choose to take over the more awkard routes, even if the awkward routes are slightly faster. It's a mini Euro Truck Simulator, with mud and a tiny amount of off-roading. This is different. It's about exploring, fully off-road, rock climbing and navigating through awkward climbs to reach your goals. You're rewarded for exploring and taking different routes and you never feel punished for being adventurous. Finding things like "climbs" or "fords" will reward you with cash for upgrades, you'll also unlock extra missions by exploring the map. The game plays out in "Expeditions", these are essentially main missions. You select the one you want to do from the main menu, it gives you the mission requirements, you choose your vehicles and their loadout and off you go. Now, each mission has limitations and often has different set starting locations, you're expected to kit out your chosen vehicle in a way that will allow you to complete the mission, if you don't, well, that's on you. This helps avoid the monotony that SnowRunner suffers from, where you're constantly running from the same lumber yard to other points on the map. There's also sometimes vehicle limitations too and sometimes it forces you to take specific inventory items, limiting your loadout choices. Each Expedition also has bonus missions in them that reward points for cosmetics, they're completely optional, but add an extra challenge. They'll challenge you to things like not taking damage, or only using one type of vehicle or only taking one vehicle. Things that make the mission a little more challenging. I've thoroughly enjoyed doing them so far. Then there's also a free roam mode, where you can freely explore the map and pick up and complete all the extra side missions. You can complete side missions whilst on an Expedition, but doing so can sometimes be awkward due to the Expeditions limitation. Free roam is very much standard SnowRunner mode, go to mission point, grab it, complete it, move on. So you get a little bit of everything here. Graphically, it does look a little nicer than SnowRunner but also, the physics seem to be better for off-roading too. The rock climbing is one of my favourite parts and is significantly more fun than SnowRunners mud laden roads, which tends to just be a mind-numbing slog of "stick it in Low and wait it out". Rock climbing takes a little pre-planning and a fair bit of skill to succeed at. It's great fun and more engaging than anything I've done in SnowRunner. You're also equipped with various gadgets such as binoculars for scoping out points of interest, drones for getting a view of the land from above, anchor points that act as deployable winching points (these are great for experimenting with and allow you to cross some pretty gnarly terrain) and lots of other little things that do all sorts. They add a great bit of entertainment to an already fun experience. To sum it up, if your favourite part of SnowRunner was going off-road and finding the watchtowers and exploring to find the upgrade points, then you'll probably like this game. If you prefer the logistics side of moving cargo from A to B, over boring slow muddy roads, then you'll probably want to skip this one. Personally, I love it.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away.

i really dislike how much hate this game got. For anyone interested, this game is no longer being supported due to the communities constant complaints. This game was considered "Snow runner 2" from the community before the game even released but what they do not understand is that this game isnt Snow runner 2, its expeditions: a mud running game. though similar, it is very unique in its own way. You can adjust tire pressure, you can scale rocks and mountains, and you dont have to worry about flipping your cargo or repetitive trails (Like in snow runner). I highly recommend this game as much as i recommend snow runner. Both games are amazing in their own ways. Bear in mind that the developer of this game no longer supports Expeditions. Patches will be released frequently, but no new content will be added after the year one pass, which sucks, this game is beautiful and has a lot of potential. I also recommend the Ford pack as well, you will thank me later.
The runner games are okay, an interesting physics game but overall I don't really care how the game is anymore. Saber interactive has come out as a Developer team fully hyped with Generative AI. As a gamer that respects the industry and art of Gaming and those that create the games. I can't in any way further support Saber Interactive or any of their games. Until the company does a full stop on Generative AI I will not be buying any future games from them nor will I install any of their games. Generative AI has no place in gaming. And as you can all see from my library of over 2k games I'm pretty forgiving with games and will buy and play pretty much anything.
going to thumb it down mainly for one reason. your trucks despawn on the map between expeditions and it is extremely frustrating mechanic. for example: DLC map owl lake ridge. first mission/expedition on the map, you got to drive far and get to some locations of lost civilization... its a long mission, 30min, but pretty standard. At the end, you finish the mission at the cave entrance that goes to new map and unlocks that entrance. then you have option to go back to HQ, or continue... I went back to HQ, because i unlocked some upgrades for my trucks and wanted to equip them. big mistake. next is a second mission on that zone... explore that cave... so now i got to drive 20min again to the cave, exact same path, exact same vehicle, just to get to the fcking cave that i just finished my mission from. brother. who made these decisions. who thought a mission system was a good idea. they went from spintires, mudrunner, snowrunner, that all have persistent maps... and they were like... you know what would be good... to not have persistent maps anymore. just so stupid
After spending some time with Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, I can’t help but feel disappointed. Compared to SnowRunner, this one leans heavily toward an arcade experience rather than a proper simulator. The core feeling of weight, traction, and realistic vehicle physics that made the earlier titles so immersive is largely gone. Vehicle control and steering feel strangely artificial — almost like the trucks are gliding on rails rather than interacting with the terrain. There’s a lack of that gritty, tactile feedback that fans of the series have come to expect. For players like me who enjoy open-world driving and realistic exploration, the gameplay suffers from an overload of unnecessary “fancy gadgets” and tech gimmicks that pull you out of the raw off-road experience. It’s as if the developers tried to modernize the game but ended up stripping away what made it truly special. Honestly, this time I should have listened to the many negative reviews on YouTube. They were right — Expeditions feels like a step backward for the series.

I wish the refund policy was more lenient (2.1 hours...). Devs never delivered the 'open world co-op campaign' that they promised. It ended up being Snowrunner lite, just with worse mechanics and controls. Inconceivable.
So they started with Snowrunner. Swapped the snow for desert, added more grind and frustration, and gave you only 3 types of missions. Just stick with Snowrunner.
