Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.57/day in the week to Sep 2 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
While its enjoyable it has limitations on it that the orginal didnt. Mods are non existant and you are limited in how many minions you can have. After a point you cant replenish them fast enough because the "good guys" are sending too many advanced troops and traps also become ineffective due to the sheer number. Get on sale if you must don't recommend paying over $5
Still unfinished. If you like the look of this game, get the 1st one & install mods. It was way more of the humour, fun and content.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 18: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Recommended (with context)
I went into Evil Genius 2: World Domination with fairly low expectations, mostly because of the mixed-to-negative reviews from long-time fans of the original game. After around 1.5–2 hours of playtime, my experience is more nuanced than the reviews suggest.

Performance & Technical Experience (Linux)
This part deserves clear praise. The game runs excellent out of the box on Linux. On launch, you are even asked whether you want to use Vulkan or DX12, which is already a great sign.

Benchmark (3 minutes): ~144 FPS
Actual gameplay average: ~180 FPS (via MangoHud)
No crashes
No major stutter
Very solid Vulkan implementation
As a Linux user, this is one of those rare cases where you just install, press play, and everything works.

Gameplay – What Does It Feel Like?
The best way I can describe the gameplay is this: If Dungeon Keeper and Theme Hospital had a more modern, casual child, Evil Genius 2 would be it.

Base-building with humor as the main focus
More management/tycoon than hardcore strategy
More accessible and guided than Dungeon Keeper
Cleaner and more structured than the original Evil Genius
If you expect Evil Genius 1.5 with deep systems and brutal difficulty, you will likely be disappointed. If you accept this as a more casual, more polished, and more relaxed experience, it actually works quite well.

Fair Criticism
The negative reviews are not completely wrong:

The pacing can be slow, especially later on
The World Map system is simplified and can feel like waiting
Minions feel more like resources than characters
The game is very forgiving and hard to truly fail
It is clear that the game does not always respect the player’s time as much as strategy veterans might want.

Why I Still Recommend It
Context matters.

I bought the game at -90%
I did not expect a hardcore strategy sequel
I wanted a light, humorous base-builder
The technical performance is rock solid
At that price point, and with this level of performance, the game delivers what it promises.

Conclusion
Evil Genius 2 is not the deep strategic successor many fans hoped for. But it is also not the disaster some reviews make it out to be. If you:

Enjoy base-building games
Like Dungeon Keeper / Theme Hospital-style design
Play on Linux
Are okay with a slower, more guided experience
Then this is a solid purchase — especially on sale. Recommended, with realistic expectations. https://www.youtube.com/live/9VF2C4baiso
Ultimately I found the basic gameplay loop to be too repetitive to be very fun. Uninstalled without finishing the story for any of the EGs.
Very good gameplay and mechanics, but the balancing and progression feels incredibly poorly done; it's too easy in the beginning and doesn't properly explain how the game works, and then you get constantly bombarded with supersoldiers and max level investigators that can't be distracted or deterred and that will wipe out your entire minion force and constantly leave your lair in a state of chaos and disrepair. Regardless of how much you invest in different traps or guards, or methods of distraction, or how big your lair is, or how much raw cash you have, any enemies except the lowest tier ones that only appear in the tutorial will be borderline or legitimately impossible to deter without having to kill or capture them, which increases your global suspicion and causes even MORE troops to raid you. It's a vicious and incredibly poorly playtested cycle.
O MEU COVIL NÃO PARA DE PEGAR FOGO NUNCA! em menos de duas horas de jogo meu covil teve um ''incêndio infernal'' 3 MALDITAS VEZES. Dito isso jogaço da porr, 100/10
abandoned game but still holds up pretty well I wouldn't buy it at full price though
The best base-building game I have ever played in my entire life. Runs great, good graphics, meaningful objectives, voice acted dialogue, great progression system, unique features that make it stand out from similar games. Cool blend of core gameplay loops between the base and the world map. A couple bugs here and there, but nothing even close to game-breaking. And there's SO MUCH CONTENT. Probably the best city-builder type of game for someone that prefers a themepark experience to a sandbox one. This one gives you plenty of goals to work towards (but it's a great sandbox experience nonetheless). Worth every penny.
Evil Genius 2 perfectly nails the 1960s spy-fi aesthetic, but unfortunately, the gameplay doesn't live up to the vibe. Going into this, I was expecting something much closer to the Dungeons series, with its tight, reactive base-building, active defense mechanics, and rewarding management loop. Instead, the game replaces that engaging "dungeon master" feel with a tedious, mobile-like grind. A massive chunk of your time is wasted staring at the World Stage map, waiting for timers to countdown and managing global heat levels. It feels less like running a chaotic, villainous lair and more like dealing with a sluggish, passive Excel spreadsheet. It’s a shame, because the charm is definitely there, but the gameplay loop is just too boring compared to the Dungeons formula.
