First of all, since most people go to the forum and reviews checking for a certain tag added, not, this is not a romance novel neither does feature yuri nor anything related to those two points. This is a story about friendship, trust, finding your place in the world and overcoming your problems. Props to the writer, they clearly had a message that wanted to convey and boy did they deliver. I certainly would have loved the story to be more expanded, there are a few timeskips in an already short span of time covered (one month from end of prologue to end of the novel) and I really think that, despite watching the changes in Mina along those, watching her grow day by day would have been amazing, although based on her personality, probably those changes wouldn't be significant enough. Also, based on achievements expecting you to play it a second time (honestly I was convinced I was going to reread it without them after I finished it), I would have loved some sort of NG+ adding scenes or even being based a one year later. But things as they are, truth is without even changing, replaying after knowing the truth behind the whole story gives a new light in Ran's actions and show you how many hints were there since the start as to why things were like they were. Price might seem like a bit high considering that this is expected to last around 5-6 hours, maaaaybe 7 if you play it without skipping manually not a single scene. But, the thing is, the production value is damn high, it has over 400 CGI, which is an absurd amount, I'm surprised Sprite went with it after how taxing on their budget Aokana was. Keep in mind that this is one of those VNs without choices, you are here to experience a story like if you were reading a book or watching a movie, no different outcomes nor scenes. I won't write more in the review, since I'm going in circles trying to not talk about the story itself, since I think that going blind is the perfect decision, just take the quick summary: Bullied girl hides from the world, feeling betrayed sees an opportunity to leave behind her home and find her place in a small coast town working on a lodge. So yeah, is a coming of age story at heart but centered about self-care in a world that clearly makes it harder each day. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3558944997 If you are filling unsure because the duration, grab it on a sale, there's always the option to purchase the OST later if you want to show more support to the studio.
A tale of friendship. High quality voice acting. Price is a bit too high.
Note: If you're looking for yuri romance, look elsewhere. This is not a romance story. --- "Where there is a will, there is a way" The subtitle perfectly encapsulates the whole story. Perhaps it's my personal background. Everlasting Flowers moved me more deeply than many famous tearjerker visual novels. There are no world-ending or life-and-death stakes. Not even romantic stakes. Yet this simple, grounded coming-of-age story touches something deeper. The story doesn't rely on drama. The tears come naturally through genuine human connection and healing instead. Like, the swimsuit episode is usually some sort of fan-service stuff, right? Why did this one induce tears instead? The game also does something uncommon in Japanese visual novels: it depicts an elderly person as a fully realized human being. The grandma feels like someone who has accumulated genuine wisdom about emotional growth and healing through a long life. A soundtrack that calms me down quickly. Impressive number of CGs for the length of the story. High production quality also. The story pacing is a bit uneven though. The character growth arc is paced in a way that makes sense to the main character, but feels off on the narrative side. Learning Japanese? This is good reading material. Low difficulty and modern writing. Some internal monologues may require careful parsing if you're unaccustomed to the characteristically indirect Japanese approach to articulating emotional landscapes.
everything is good but yuri bait. it's still yuri in my heart
