Super solid game. Absolutely loved it.

Approaching this as a metroidvania, I enjoyed the tone, ambiance, and artstyle, but I did not enjoy the platforming, the navigation, the movement mechanics, or the shooting. Some examples of things I didn't like are: you can't aim your shots diagonally, leading to awkward jump and shoot mechanics with enemies that move diagonally; backtracking is tedious because jumping and platforming is very basic, hindered by enemies, and not fun in general. For better metroidvania experiences with a similar ambiance and better gameplay, try Super Metroid, Hollow Knight, Axiom Verge, A Robot Named Fight, Vision Soft Reset, and Xeodrifter.
A very nice 8 bit Metroidvania title. Gameplay feels like one of the classic NES Megaman titles. Don't expect anything super original. It's a medium map, with lots of upgrades and power ups, a filler story, a couple of bosses and around 4 to 6 hours of gameplay. Soundtrack is probably the best aspect of the game. There's also a promise for a sequel, but that never happened so far.
Nice Little Metroidvania
Primeras impresiones

Solo me faltó 1 logro pendiente.
some of the worst feeling controls I've ever experienced. Often times when you try to run and jump you'll just run off a ledge instead. Several times I had to go down and then fell into lava I couldn't see before dropping. Boss arenas don't fit on my screen so they'll often run off screen and attack me from there (must be a bug??). Almost no ability to aim at all, and enemies can move through walls, shoot from any angle, and move around randomly. You'll either be taking it extremely slow waiting for enemies to wander into a good position before you engage or (more often) just trying to run past them. You're also given very little motivation so I just aimlessly wandered around for a bit collecting powerups before getting bored. Really not good.
NOT RECOMMENDED. You have to schedule a jump (about 0.3 seconds in advance). Otherwise you will fall like a potato sack instead of jumping. In a platformer game. How on Earth has this not been fixed in 6 years. This issues should have been gone after a week. That makes it a pain to play. Not having automatic saving today is lame. The original reason for save rooms was that saving was either 1) not possible (password strings) or 2) saving took a long time, discouraging frequent game saving. They would have used auto-saving back in the day if that was an option. A PC processes saves fast, so there is no excuse. I had to replay the first boss again because I died as the game dropped me in a lava-filled terrain with no obvious save room around. I don't get why these indie devs think less fun mechanics is better. Of course when I select "easy" difficulty, the game should give me the hardcore experience of restricted. That is how the gods intended it to be. F-ing amen. :)
