Super fun music platformer that will make your eyes pop. Make sure to grab Electronic Super Joy 2 because it's free!
Played this back in 2014, I think, and just tried it again now in 2024 and I immediately remembered why I only got to the end of world 2 when I first played it. When I complete a level in this game it's not so much "yes, I finally did it", but more "thank God I don't have to do that again", which doesn't feel very good. The game kinda feels more tedious and repatative rather than straight up difficult, as it feels like you're going to complete everything eventually if you just try enough times. Yes, I know that sounds stupid as that is true for a lot of games, but it just feels bad in this game, for some reason. Even when it requires pixel perfect jumps and spilt second timings, it's not so much a question about *if* I can complete a level in this game, but more just a question about *when* you complete the level. When you die and have to repeat a section, it feels like you just have to smash your head against the wall enough times until it cracks rather than learn from your mistakes or do anything different. Yes, the game does describe itself as a "brutally hard platformer", and there are challenges that are difficult and satisfying to overcome, but usually it's just more frustrating than anything else. Also, maybe this is just me, but playing with the keyboard feels kinda bad (even though keys are rebindable), and I would definately reccommend a controller for this. Also, also: Music is for the most part very good, so maybe it's worth it just for that if you like this kind of music, but in that case just listen to it on Spotify or something.
Decent platformer with generic gimmicks devolves into unfair trial-and-error with impossible levels and frustrating repetition.

Simply put, I did not have fun playing this game. The challenge is beyond what I find enjoyable, but I can see past that on it's own. The visuals and music, while unique and what made me buy the game in the first place, are very distracting and make it artificially more challenging and frustrating. The respawn mechanics are annoying, even if there is a button for it as well. The writing/humor is quite weak and childish. The character controls, jump distances, and "attacks" are sometimes inconsistent which leads to more frustation. Despite the emphasis on the music, this is not at all a rythm game and it requires you often to wait while an object or the screen moves. Which is frustrating and boring, especially on the 10th+ attempt. Generally had little to no fun during my whole experience.

While even the description for this game admits that it is "brutally hard", I cannot claim that has a hard difficulty that feels satisfying in any way. The positives I can say are that the control is actually overall pretty good, the art style is neat, and I generally like the music. But what absolutely kills this game is the level design. World 1 is at least tolerable, but by the time I got to the end of World 2, any enjoyment I was getting out of this game was gone. It came to the point where I feel like this was designed specifically with being a rage game in mind. If you're someone who likes rage games and 2D platformers, you may get some enjoyment out of this. But to run-of-the-mill platformer fans, I warn and advise against playing this game. This is not satisfyingly hard, this is rage-inducing hard. I admittedly quit this game by the end of World 2 (out of 4) and I feel like I saved myself a good amount of my sanity by doing so. This game has the makings of a great platformer that I feel is ruined by horrifically annoying level design. Side note, this game's humor is also some of the worst I've ever seen put into a video game. Middle schoolers going around and screaming Chicken Jockey over and over is funnier than the humor in this game. Warning: if you play games and there are people around you who can hear your audio typically, first thing you go do is go to the options and turn the game on PG Mode so that you don't have the people you live with wondering why your computer is sensually moaning every time you die. Even if you are alone or have headphones, that got annoying real fast and I just turned it off just a few levels in.
Jank ruins an otherwise good game.
Generic difficult 2D platformer that sets itself apart by playing moaning sounds in your ear when you fail. Competent, but not very memorable.
Сложные уровни, платформы-ракеты, радужные пушки, зажигательные вечеринки, потрясающий саундтрек, гигантский монстр, похожий на динозавра, и достаточно розового.
