Dying Light brought to you by Sonic the hedgehog The story isnt anything to write home about and Rai's was downright a cartoon villain but its fun and keeps you hooked on what's gonna happen next. Although the story and characters arent the reason this game is a cult classic. The gameplay is extremely fun, running and grappling around makes you feel like a zombie apocalypse spiderman along with the killer atmosphere that completely changes at night, its a very immersive world techland have managed to build on par with Dead island and even better in some instances. The nighttime, oh man the nighttime is probably my fav part of this entire game and turns it into a real horror game when the volatiles come out and it was a really fun challenge on hard mode to venture out at night. What else can be said about this game? progression is solid, combat is brutal and impactful and for the price this game constantly goes on its a steal and must own for anyone thats a fan of zombies or just wants to have some dumb fun, 100% recommend.
I played this game once years ago and never really finished it, so when it went on sale I decided it was a good time to revisit it and finally reach the end. Aaaand I remembered why I dropped it back then. THE GOOD 1) Overall the graphics are still nice, although some textures could use upscaling. 2) Parkour is decent, especially in Old Town, and the overall flow of movement feels enjoyable. 3) Loot on the map refreshes after some time, giving you a reason to revisit certain resource-rich areas — which is a big plus for people with a loot-hoarding habit like me. 4) The ability to modify melee weapons is a nice idea. Adding effects to them enriches the gameplay. THE NEUTRAL 1) The loot refresh mechanic has no in-game explanation. However, the occasional bodies lying in apartments could have been reused to justify it. Something along the lines of “survivors repopulate empty flats, fill them with their stuff, and then fall prey to the infected or looters” would have given a logical explanation while also deepening immersion. 2) Loot placement is sometimes funny. Like, who puts an energy bar in a crate or nails in a wardrobe? THE BAD The main reason this review is negative is the combat system and everything related to it. I get it — it’s a game, not a simulator, so it doesn’t have to be realistic. But it would be nice to have at least some logic and consistency. In its current state the combat system is extremely clunky, and its design makes the impact of your attacks feel negligible or sometimes completely non-existent. After 40 hours it just becomes straight-up frustrating to play. I know some hardcore Dying Light fans will jump into the comments with the usual “casual pleb” and “skill issue” remarks. All I’m saying is that many aspects of combat could have been balanced much better and in a more logically consistent way. 1) Right from the start you have access to several blueprints that let you turn an ordinary pipe or knife into much better versions. DLC blueprints, however, have significantly higher stats than the vanilla ones — the difference ranges from 2 to 5 times depending on which blueprints you compare. On early stages of the game, weapons crafted from DLC blueprints turn it into a one-shot fiesta. You might say: “If you think DLC weapons are overpowered, just use the vanilla ones, what’s the problem?” or “Devs need to make money.” Fine. Then why not lock the better blueprints behind level requirements, like Payday 2 does? It would make obtaining stronger weapons more rewarding and give players an incentive to actually use the vanilla blueprints. 2) Dying Light follows the same stupid trend of “our protagonist is a special agent/marine/tough guy, but he still runs out of breath after a short sprint or fighting for longer than 15 seconds.” Again, I understand it’s a game and the devs need to balance the player somehow, but come on — a special forces operative should be able to fight and run at least as long as some random bum from the Slums of Harran. Especially since the DL Wiki states that Kyle Crane served in the United States Army Special Forces. 3) The balance of enemies, their HP, and their mechanics leave a lot to be desired. For example, when biters charge you, their grab can cancel your attacks mid-swing and lock you in place while also turning your camera toward the grabbing biter. Sounds fair? The devil is in the details. First, the lock happens before they even touch you. The best counter is to stun them (by kicking or hitting their head with heavy weapons like wrenches or hammers), which breaks the lock. Then you discover that occasionally one biter in the pack can power through your attacks and try to grab you again and again, constantly relocking you. What makes it even more infuriating is the animation: you smash a biter’s head as it charges, and instead of falling sideways or backward, it falls forward and immediately tries to grab you again. Sometimes, if you’re close enough, it doesn’t even need to try — it just grabs you and bites a huge chunk of your HP off. Doesn’t sound fair, right? And as if that wasn’t enough, as you level up, so do the enemies. More and more biters become this persistent. Eventually it gets so bad that in some situations half the horde will be doing this, and you’ll be constantly relocked between different biters while mashing attack and kick buttons just to survive. At some point you just start avoiding combat altogether. Honestly, even with how bad the grabbing feels, it could have been much more tolerable with better design. Among the biter models there are policemen, construction workers, and mechanics — people who did manual labor and have solid builds. If the ability to power through the player’s attacks was exclusive to them, it would actually make sense and allow for better player strategy. Right now you can easily deal with a buff car mechanic and then get pushed around by a small female biter. The same issues apply to other enemies. Virals are basically biters on steroids — faster and even more dismissive of your attacks. The same goes for human enemies. You’d think guns would help, but on Nightmare difficulty humans and virals casually tank multiple headshots from pistols, rifles, and even shotguns. Seriously, with the RNG this game has, you can shove a shotgun barrel down their throat and still not one-shot them. Meanwhile, you melt in 2–3 hits. 4) Weapon impact feels random and inconsistent. It doesn’t really matter if you’re hitting enemies with a knife, a wrench, or even a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SWAT BATTERING HAMMER (like the one Sledge from Rainbow Six Siege has). You can stun an enemy with a fishing knife and then smash them with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SWAT BATTERING HAMMER, and they’ll just ignore it and keep attacking completely unbothered. So what’s the point of using two-handed weapons with their slower swings and higher stamina cost if you can just spam an electrified knife and get the same (or better) result while saving stamina and dealing higher DPS? 5) NPC and loot crate spawns are bugged. Sometimes yellow toolboxes or loot crates spawn halfway inside walls. As for enemies, in the Slums you can run past small sheds and a biter or viral might burst out of the door, sometimes with a loot crate inside. Occasionally the spawn script on the same shed triggers again within a minute — one time it even triggered again while I was still inside the shed. Dying Light had good potential, but it was never truly reached. And from what I’ve heard about the sequels, the same game design flaws are still present.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3574590720
I'm speechless, Dying Light is a great game, a open world with a variety of things to do. The parkour is the best part and it's on another level. Honestly, it's one of the best parkour games I've ever played, and with zombies!!! It's a great game, although its story isn't perfect, it has its flaws and dips, but it's worth it for its parkour. I'm not judging the game; there are already many zombie stories, some good, some glitchy, but this one at least stands out, and it also features a weapon crafting system that I liked. The funny thing is that this game came out in 2015 and it never gets old; there are still people playing it. Worth remembering. 8.5/10
Good Night, Good Luck.
Dying Light is a stereotypical zombie game similar to games such as Dead Rising and Dead Island following the same open world zombie action blueprint except this game does co-op pretty well. The combat was enjoyable, the game didn't seem to take itself too seriously with what you can do with the combat. Overall, the game itself is kind of whatever but if you were to play this game with one or multiple people, you'd find yourself enjoying the co-op aspect. My biggest critique of this game is that the ending does not allow co-op play and forces a singleplayer experience which sort of ruins the enjoyment of playing the entire game through to that point with another person.
Fajna gierka z płynną fabułą i zajebistymi pobocznymi postaciami
harder difficulties are boring and unbalanced
