Despite all the positives I cannot justify the forced cut scene after every campaign race. I can't ignore that when you repeat campaign races, a long unskippable pointless boring cutscene is handed to you with no option to disable them. You get a stupid moving camera shot of your ugly car and hammer the controller as your lifespan flows into a void. While I put up with it for 24 races and unknowingly completed the campaign with one of the drivers (only to repeat races on the same driver), the cut scenes will not stop. I admit the game is fun on many levels and satisfies that car drifting videogame itch I've always had, BUT SCREW THIS. No rational person would play it longer than 5 hours, so you can keep your 400Km of race track included with the game. I QUIT. (Declaimer, I had no trouble running the software in smooth framerate excellence.)
A really fun rally experience: it looks cool, the controls are good and the game is motivating to complete the tournaments and collections. For Steam Deck users: the game runs smoothly on the Deck (I got the OLED model) and is very easy on the battery, I usually could get above 7 hours of playing time without recharging (as in: going from 90-100 % to 10 %). There were just two things that I found to be having room for improvement: 1. the menu could be a little bit more intuitive to use, 2. the furthest chase camera doesn't let you see the road once you drive beneath a building/structure (luckily that is only relevant for like three races, so just a bit inconvenient and not game-breaking). All in all I'd recommend this game for players who like casual rally games, especially if it's on sale. For orientation: I completed the game with 100 % of the achievements in about 18 hours, so it's not a really short game either.
Игра кайфовая. Играть не пожалеть. Всем нравится. Включай-гони. Врум-врум!
This goes down in the books as a top favorite racer of mine, hands down. Money I'd gladly spend again. It takes a minute, but once you figure it out the handling is smooth & satisfying, as well as featuring a considerable difference between how each car feels to drive, which is a huge personal favorite. The main championship mode takes you on several drives at a time with each car sequentially, as you unlock them and their higher gear versions, which allows you to find your favorite experience amidst honing your run style on each map. If you're interested in placing on the global leaderboards, there ARE notable "top tiers" that you'll see dominating the game's physics engine with their acceleration stats, (Geneve, Froggie, High Five) but even across those three mentioned, there is a noticeable difference in how each behaves on the road, while still making top times; the range can be broken down as The Geneve's grip run, The Froggie's middle balance of grip/drift, as well as The High Five's CONSIDERABLY slippery-but so satisfying-drift run. This isn't to say either that you won't ever see absolute madlads making top ten with other cars, it's simply the clearest way my 'tism can visualize the variety for you. If you're struggling to learn the physics, or want better times, I'd highly recommend picking up the Froggie to primarily train with and then branch out to whatever car's style of handling speaks the most to what you feel you want out of your driving experience. I won't sugarcoat that the invisible zones that reset you onto the track can be a bit wonky in rare occurrences, (notably some hairpins on the Japan map have been a source of much befuddlement) but those, alongside the crash physics and invisible zones that mark you as offroad which caps your top speed for a few seconds, do eventually serve as an extremely satisfying obstacle that can help you get even better at using the whole road and conserving your momentum while taking each of the different corners, instead of just trying to minmax the inside of each and every corner. Finally, it may be polarizing, but if you've read this far, you probably do like the art style and from me to you, the maps really bring out the best of it. The photo mode available when you pause goes so hard. Thank you for your time, I hope to see you up there on the leaderboards :) -Linda The NastyBag™
While the game itself has a cool style and great handling, I have a few gripes. No multiplayer, no rally cross with bots, barely any proper progression, the currency you receive after each race feels meaningless and the cars should have a bit of a deeper customization variety. I think that if the game added multiplayer, proper progression system similar to Dirt Rally or WRC then it would feel a bit more rewarding, add a bit more customization where you can add more bits and pieces to your car (rework the current system to allow more stylized modification) and you'd have a really good game. 6/10, repetitive and mundane but a fun skeleton, obviously needs work but hopefully with a little tweaking should be a good 8/10 arcade rally racer.
I'm glad I didn't write the game off initially and stuck with it but there's a few things that make you wonder why it's not an early access title. For starters the game has a pretty good art style that oozes a lot of character—it's a real shame that the game does absolutely nothing with it. Sure, you get these beautiful scenic routes, a quirky navigator, and amazing car designs, but there's no story, lore or narration to provide you much purpose. All you're doing is following a checklist of races per biome while being unceremoniously gifted new cosmetic parts per race through a small cutscene that gets annoying after the 64th time you watched it. As you progress, you get swapped between different vehicles, to then the second upgraded variant of the same cars, then a 3rd upgraded variant until the championship is over. There's 6 of these championships with their own unique biomes/maps and 24 courses in each one which, I'll admit, is pretty amazing for a small indie title. Each feature their own set of unique cars to experience them with. However, I think this does hurt the game a little bit. As I mentioned before... I was about to refund this game. I found the driving to be too simplistic and too forgiving. I was blazing through turns without needing to play with the throttle, braking, or throw the car around. But as I continued I realized the reason why this game feels like that is because every single car you use in their respective championship is designed and made to operate efficiently within that environment. It's only when you branch out and use your progress/winnings to try new cars in different settings do you see how much of a challenge it can be. But the problem is, again, the game doesn't really do anything with that. You can basically compete in these races via local multiplayer or fight for leaderboard bragging rights online. That's perfect for me, but that's not everyone's cup of tea. The only thing you can do is reset the progression of the championships to play them from the beginning which I don't genuinely see the purpose of. Additionally, the game just has an awkward feeling of being unfinished in general. There's instances where I noticed map geometry not being lined up correctly with decorations. There's an open world mode where you can freely explore around the map to collect letters and collectibles which is incredibly boring and solely there to pad out the run time with busy work. I do like that there's a bit of flair added to the environment in this mode as well, but you quickly realize most of the props, buildings, foliage, fences, etc are not properly flushed with the ground, floating in mid air, and have no collision detection like you're playing Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing. I expected a little more for a fully released game that is getting a console port soon. A game that's not marked as Early Access should feel at the very least feel feature complete. With that being said, the core gameplay is refined enough. If all you're looking for is a casual rally game to just play when you're bored, you kinda can't go wrong with it. With the time I've put so far, I believe I'm only about halfway through. So there's definitely content to be had, and the price isn't too shabby for it either. Though, personally, I'd wait until the game at least goes on sale. It typically does for around 40% off frequently.
when in doubt... ... go on ashopping spree, fast and fabulous
Fun game. Runs well even on steamdeck.
