This game saved me from sadness best game ever
I LOVE THIS GAME! if you like traveling with a party (tho they can get annoying).. if you enjoy getting lost (tho your Pawns will try their best to guide you).. if you like Big encounters.. if you like cool and different play styles.. if you like somewhat cool drip.. if you like dragons (tho don't expect much enemy variety).. if you like character creation (one of the best i've ever seen in a game).. if you don't like swiming (that kills you).. if you like some sus story twists (no spoilers).. if you like an organic experience (dude even the animations feel organic and smooth).. this game is for YOU. Ok let's talk seriously now.. I love this game, and I also understand why many people don't. Dragon's Dogma 2 is a very niche RPG that values the journey more than the destination. You'll spend most of your time walking through the wilds, camping, riding oxcarts, getting ambushed, and creating your own stories rather than following the main quest. That's why I even recommend avoiding the new permanent Portcrystal unless you're in a hurry. I finished my first playthrough in over 200 hours, and what I remember most isn't the story, but the adventures I created with my main Pawn, who somehow became more than just an AI companion. That said, the game isn't perfect. Enemy variety becomes repetitive, the story had the potential to be something great, but it ends just as it feels like it's getting started, and the full price is honestly hard to justify (I bought it on sale and think that's the sweet spot). Still, with the recent updates and the Dark Arisen expansion on the horizon, I think the future looks very promising. If you're looking for a game to live in rather than simply finish, Dragon's Dogma 2 is something special.
If you’re the type of person who enjoys spending their evening debugging memory dumps rather than, you know, playing a video game, then CAPCOM has just delivered your Game Of The Year! Welcome to Dragon’s Dogma 2, the first piece of software in history that actively HATES even running. The RE Engine has transformed the mundane act of “walking from point A to point B” or character creation into a high-octane gamble of when are you going to see the inevitable DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG popup? You don’t traverse a landscape in this game; you tiptoe through a digital minefield, praying the memory allocation doesn't smite you for opening the escape menu, inventory or the map. I don’t care if you’re running a NASA supercomputer, it doesn’t matter. The engine’s garbage collection of Epic Megascans unoptimized assets is a pathetic joke (thanks for filling me in, programmer friend), a wooden house of cards nearly devoured by termites where some faulty execution path in the compiled binary always leads to a fatal error. The crashes are a feature for this game. It crashes in the character creator for no reason at all. It crashes when you hit “Doze Off” at the inn, which is ironic, because the game instantly dozes off the minute you start experiencing anything close to fun. It crashes if you look at it with a hint of disapproval. The shader compilation process turns your PC into a turbine jet warming up for takeoff, just so you can watch it buckle under. It's like the studio saw the word "compression" in a dictionary once and set the page on fire and sniffed lines of blow, coded this game, then DOVE OFF A BRIDGE. I’ve spent my entire “playtime” translating EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION codes. I’ve become intimately familiar with the architecture of the crash reporter, which is the only part of this product that works reliably. When the developer shrugs and blames your hardware, do us all a favor: don’t believe a word of it. This isn't a driver hiccup. This is a codebase that looks at a valid memory address and decides to drive a truck through your living room wall. This is a system stability ritual that turns your patience into a twitching eyelid. Do not buy Dragon’s Dogma 2 if you value your GPU’s lifespan, your sanity, or comically just want to play the game. How silly are you? Why would you expect to play a game in your Steam library? 0/10. A masterpiece of developer failure. It’s not that the gameplay is bad, I loved the 10 seconds I was able to play, again and again and again and FOR FOUR DAYS STRAIGHT; the software is fundamentally incapable of being turned on, like a customer service chatbot being sexted by a horny pet store manager with 35 cats and no life.
Great game, cant wait for dlc
4 out of 10 BANANAS Whats good? Good voice acting, decent graphics. Like the previous one i love that you can climb on monsters and the sheer size of spells. Whats bad? The story didnt rly get me, feels rushed, unfinished. Doesnt catch the player on an emotional level. Very short story. It just doesnt feel right, being able to end the game after you only discovered half of the map. Compared to the original DD and DD Dark Arisen, this is a JOKE. ven the Endboss was super easy. And i was like, what this cant be the endboss, there HAS to be more??? Nope - Roll Credits, thx for your money but now byebye. Wacky controls make fights look boring and repetitive. I dont get the positive Reviews here of PPL praising the controls and fights, they are more of a burden than enjoyment because spells and mobility is just SO restricted. Also you only get like 3 spells/abilities per vocation, which also narrows down the possibility to make figts more interesting. RECOMENDATION: IF you are REALLY an DD Fan, buy in Sale (15-20 MAX). If youre no Fan and new to it, go buy the first one with the dark arisen expansion, better investment.
