Long time DD1 fan here. Never thought we'd see the day we got DD2 and DLC. Then DD2 was announced and I was very surprised it was happening at all. I played DD2 day 1 two years ago and loved the game, for all its similarities and its differences to the original. Then time went by and there wasn't as much post release support as I would have liked. But that's okay, that's life. Back then I never thought we would get a DLC like Dark Arisen. I thought the game was a one and done and Capcom were moving onto something else. But it turns out they were listening quietly to the community the whole time and here we are all this time later with a full, expansion-sized DLC just around the corner. Cannot wait. Very happy this IP has a future. I got my preorder in just like I did with the base game, no regrets the first time and doubt I will have any this time. Reducing the price of the base game makes the overall package cheaper for new players and gets more players into the franchise. Good move from Capcom. I'm happy for new players who get a bargain on a 2 year old product because this DLC is going to be great.
Ive played the first series and still playing, been around 300h on the DD2 and enjoying it since release, after a long break due to game limitations and bad experience now that the game got some updates its just smooth and great once again to spend hours and hours exploring the world and hunting new side quests. cant wait for the DLC
I like it!
The pawn system is still to date one of the most inventive system Ive ever seen. Combat looks heavy and great (wish there is a general roll dodge option since taking a skill slot just for dodge and have limited skill slot is just not as fun). Did not came for the story since it span on different timeline from DD:DA, so no complain on the lackluster writing. Some things to wish for: 1. Text field to describe our pawn for hires; 2. Roll dodge mechanic; 3. MYSTIC KNIGHT PLEASE; 4. NUMBER 3; 5. For the love of God Make a dedicated Springboard/Launchboard button map outside of combat for traversing; 6. More interaction with pawns like maybe storytelling their journey with other Arisen while in camping mode cause camping feels dull atm; 7. Some way to get active pawns to be hired more than the outdated ones (unactive players) especially since its not crossplay. Will keep playing and looking forward to the DLC. 9/10

I have had this game for over a year before i actually gave it a go. 12 hours in, its a game that feels like it is about to get real good....then doesnt. I think its because its a linear story based game for all intents and purposes. I did not find a single thing exploring that was useful, just gold/gems to sell for gold, and every now and then a weapon/armor that was as good as the second best one in the shop. I could have just stayed on a lazer line to main quest objectives so far, and i would have zero difference in my setup. It was fun for a bit...found a boss here and there....lots of deep cave structures.... but nothing paid off....The gameplay was ok, the fights were ok.....the atmosphere was pretty solid. Game was fine, but never raised itself above...fine. If its in a 50% off sale, yeah i guess it is fine.
I've heard this game had quite the abysmal launch. But, from what I've been playing it looks like whatever headaches were present have been fixed, alongside other slice of life changes. Gameplay is very fun, story is what I'd call the Spaghetti Western of Fantasy Medieval as it's likely something you've seen before (Dragon Quest type deal). It is a shame there is no muitiplayer option as it feels like the game is designed around it. At best you have a Pawn of your own to customize, with the 3rd and 4th slot being Pawns you can borrow from other players, including friends. It is neat though that secrets you find can be witnessed by your Pawns and then when they are sent back will aid the player it belongs to.
