Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Reviews

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 3: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

An absolute classic, brought to life in the modern era. I have a troubled history with this game, from never beating it on the GBC because I was too young at the time to understand anything, to getting translated ROMs of the SFC ports of 1, 2, and 3, which I planned on playing in order, only to get filtered hard by 2. I have never actually finished the game before. At least, up until just now, and it's a wonderful game. Plenty of great new features, great difficulty selection. And for you achievement hunters, there are no missable achievements. It's truly a foundational RPG, and even playing this updated remake, I'm still marveled by what the devs at Chunsoft were able to do on NES hardware back in the day. If nothing else, I think every RPG fan should play this game to appreciate it's historic value.
Classic JRPG. Good music. Simple yet fanstatic story, simple yet engaging gameplay, but sometimes just simple is good.
I like
Peak. Only DQ game I love more is IX. Remake was an improvement in many ways. Story is great, gameplay is great, new Draconian Quest difficulty is actually difficult. I couldn't put it down until I beat the main story.
This was my first Dragon Quest game and although its too early to call myself a fan, for a game that came out in the 80's this is a fantastic story. But remember the story is extremely simple and holds many tropes, although all done supremely well in my opinion. The gameplay is similar being very easy and simple but the vocation and mix-matching of skills does make for a somewhat unique formula for getting better in the game. The biggest surprise here for me, was that the story as simple as it was actually got to me at the end. And for a game to make me feel something is always impressive and shows the love and care that went into the original story and into this remaster.
