Currently I do NOT recommend this game there are 2 reasons for this. 1. Since January (it's May now) we've had no updates or any info from the Developer, which suggests that the development might have died. 2. Bugs/Glitches/Perfomance Issues - It's early access so obviously no one is expecting to have everything run smoothly. However with the limited content - the fact that you can buy better equipment but you cannot equip it as that has not been coded in yet is quite annoying. Only progression is leveling up, you have a couple simple kill quests which help you in that. But there's a twist, the longer this game runs the worse it runs. With a i7 4.2GHz, GTX1080 & 4GBs of RAM I was hitting 7fps after about 30mins of gameplay.. And if you're wondering how much content there is, in the 2hrs I've played I have completed all the possible quests/activities in game 3 times. I'll be sure to update this, if the progress restarts as this game could become something special.
So far the graphics are good and the combat looks pretty decent, but the controls are lacking. The skills were a bit hard to use since I couldn't use any hot keys for any of my skills and my character feels a bit stiff and clunky trying to move while attacking the enemy. Some of the enemies are a bit too fast which makes it difficult for me to aim. Also what makes it even more difficult is that we have to rely on using WASD to turn instead of using the mouse to turn. I'm well aware of this game is in development, but I will not recommend this until the controls are tweaked
I first played this game at a convention and spoke with the developers. They spoke about all the ambitious things to come for the game and really created interest. I purchased a key from them at the convention. They have not put out a single update since, nor had any communication about what is happening with the game. The website is gone, and for almost four years, there has been no communication. The developers have effectively made off with any money they made and left the game available for anyone to accidentally make an uninformed purchase. I see this echoed in the reviews already, but I wanted just to say this again as anyone purchasing it at this point will be losing money on a game that is the exact definition of what is wrong with early access. This should be removed from Steam.
need alot of work done but i think it will be a good game
I am #653/709 for people that backed this trash game. Would be cool if the devs at least gave a reason why they abandoned the game.
okay honestly the game looks nice but...i didnt realise male was the only gender u are allowed to play right now and i feel like i wasted my money cause i could have just bought it later. from what i seen it didnt inform the players in the deescription didnt even mention it. so my advice is unless you want to play male or not being able to be a female bothers you dont buy it yet, wait until females are available. so as i said for now no i dont recconmend the game, from the female perspective. if you are a dude then it most likely wont bother you, but if you are a feminine female like me then it will so i dont adivse gettiing it if you are one of the said females, and or guy who prefers female characters. to wait until the gender is available because i just bought the game and i wont even be opening it again until females are available. and thats money i could have spent els where, so for now at this moment no i dont reccomend getting the early access
As backer of both Kickstarters, I've been really looking forward to this game. I love the art style (retro pixel for the win!), and the gameplay has a nostalgic feel that I'm really into. Excited to see how more modern features are brought into the game, and how the evolution of the genre will show through something that is made to look like it's older.
I started writing a review for this game, but honestly it doesn't deserve a review seeing how the development stopped and even in the current alpha state the game isn't enjoyable as everything is just terrible from movement to user orientation. Instead, here's a list of indie video games that could use your support (or attention): -Synthetik -Streets of Rogue -Pulsar: Lost Colony -Wolcen -Popup Dungeon
Dragon of Legends is a tough as nails 2D ARPG that feels and plays like a lite verison of Path of Exile and Diablo 3 with the charm of pixel/voxel graphics. TLDR; Video first impressions and extended gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaB3ds4hj5s Dragon of Legends shows a lot of promise for the genre that it is aiming to be a part of. The basic mechanics, art story structure and design show solid foundations to start from going forward, But as the moment the in the Alpha stage of its life that is all that is available, the foundations of a game. I do not have a doubt in my mind the developers are working hard on the next patches for the game and some techincal problems will be fixed as time goes on. I would like this "review" to suggest some improvements in th long term. Please improve the skill system to allow more types opf skills per each class to allow players to create niche builds. The biggest draw in terms of a game to look at as an example would be PoE. You do not need a MASSIVE web of skills and improvements but enough to make the classess feel like they have depth in the long term. Please add a doctor or a medic in the towns of the game to heal you outside of combat sp you dont have to grind for potions before you can move to a new area or buy new gear. I may have missed this person in the first town or not discovered a mechanic to allow me to do this but it would lessen the grind and frustration of using all your potions to grind only to spend a significant chunk of that loot on buying more potions. I'm sorry if I sound like a petulant person who is ungrateful for his time playing this game. Im not. Ill be going back to it during updates and patches to keep exploring. I like Dragons of Legends and want to see it succeed. If you want to get in on the ground floor and help make this game succeed with your feedback I would reccommend buying it. But if your strapped for cash put it in your wishlist and keep and eye on the patch notes!
