About
Defy death. Hoard power. Slaughter gods. In this dark fantasy action roguelite, death is only the beginning. As an immortal Successor, slash through corrupted lands, master three distinct classes, and keep your legendary gear to return stronger after every fall. The Black Dawn awaits.
You are a Successor, an immortal warrior empowered by the gods Lu, Ashuran, and Harnia. When you die, you revive with your gear, runes, and unlocks intact and head back out from Cliffshire to push further into corrupted zones.
You’ll start as the Spellblade and unlock additional Successors as you progress. Each has its own skill tree, weapons, and playstyle
Spellblade - Element-focused hybrid with close and mid-range attacks built around fire, frost, and lightning.
Berserker - Heavy melee bruiser that trades its own HP and positioning for huge damage and armor.
Hunter - Mobile ranged fighter using thrown weapons, poison, and beast abilities to apply damage over time and control space.
Combat revolves around precise dodges, reading telegraphed attacks, and committing to aggressive combos. Areas are multi-layered 2D stages that reshuffle enemy layouts, hazards, and loot each run. When you fall, you lose gold and temporary bonuses, but your gear and runes stay with you and form the base of your next attempt.
Hunt Elites and Bosses to claim Rune Stones, then craft them into Legendary and Mythic equipment. Runes and class skill trees interact to define your build, while artifacts you pick up mid-run stack into powerful synergies.
The dragon Guernian has fallen, and his Corruption twists the world. You must fight your way to the Citadel at the center of the rift. But be warned: the history you know is a lie. Track down major bosses, piece together the fragments of the past, and discover what the Black Dawn is really doing with the Corruption.

Out of the way the art and general presentation is AMAZING. The Spellblade feels really fun and the core spells they have access to just feel near amazing to use. The design of the bosses feels grand and imposing, the last one especially. So why is this not recommended? The game has A LOT of issues. Nearly all the lore is dumped on you in the first 10 minutes sometimes with menus that appear with no warning and get skipped if you were doing anything before it came up. The other characters in the game are just randomly there with no introduction of what they do, which wouldn't be an issue but things to increase stats on different characters show up no mater what run you are doing. A lot of bugs that I feel minor but pop up a lot. The character can randomly bounce while landing which normally is fine but mid combat can just cause you to randomly be locked in the air during the bounce and take the damage. The skill points themselves very sadly feel same ish, especially fire and ice. There are only one or two mastery skills that are worth it. The ultimate for ice is just the master skill for fire. A lot of the skills are just do damage close by with an attacks while locking you into an animation. There is some but little reason to ever go from a single path which makes most of the items in the game just not usable. The game is just an inventory management for a good chunk of the game. Items being kept is nice in theory but it feels like so much more rng than other rogue likes and makes the early part of the game just slog to get through on repeat runs. Sadly at the moment this feels like it is trying a lot to be like Skul with a lot of its mechanics and presentation but doesn't have the versatility to currently back it up. For now the game is a pass but can polished out to fix a lot of issues I have with the game. With more spell/skill options and a bit more polish this could be a real diamond.
potentially a vey fun game, but i hate that you lose all your exp, items, artefacts etc upon death. Even dark souls only makes you lose your souls and you can still retrieve them. also, not really a metroidvania. more like a room clearing game, and there is no exploration at all. you cant even return to previous areas.
bop.
Solid game although short in content. The game excels in art: amazing designs and amazing animations. It also excels in gameplay with super sharp controls, and in build creation. With a very good variety of builds to try out. It's not perfect though, the game has little content and there is little variety for a roguelike, you will always see the same bosses, and you will most likely blast through them in a very short amount of time. In your first run you will likely get some OP legendary gear that you can carry to the next one. And one thing that really turned me off is the music is quite bland and generic, doesn't go well with the game. But all that said, the game is worth it. The art and controls really does it for me. You're in for a good experience.
Alright, this is really amazing that is has some elements that is related to the adventure castlevania with the gothic style into it... and also it has some elements that is like it can be revived again and it changes some of its stories... the inventory, equipments, skill tree is also one of the unique game style... the only thing that is really limited to it is it has limited characters to play... i do not know if the game style only focuses onto 2 characters but it would be nice if they are many different characters with different specialties on their own weapons and skills... in my suggestion in this game style, there are many more to improve on... that would be adding new characters... adding new items, equipments, skills, skill trees, different items like from common to legend and new tiers and add some new levels, bosses and new content... i mean the review and rating is already amazing... its just that it is limited only to 2 characters... if you want this to be like castlvania gothic like with a diablo elements in it, you should atleast add more characters so players can enjoy... add more secrets... like additional places to discover maps as well... There is a saying from our greatest minds and inspiration, "Try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value" - Albert Einstein It is a powerful quote. By continue putting more value and consistent into... even though developing it becomes challenging and sometimes there is a blockage... Do not stop and never give up... Just continue and put value into... Even if it is just 1%... By the end of each day there is something you have added and improve on. Then the natural abundance and success will flow naturally. If you continue to put more and more. It will be the most interesting game to play and at the sametime you could also add some elements which Characters can evolve Class and unlocks new Sub Skill Tree or like Awakening Skill Tree... who knows... What most players love about it is that we love getting the Character going to highest stats and builds and become OP... but also as characters continue to level up... Monsters and new levels should become difficult as well... Like the system of Diablo, where there is no caps or so... But anyways... Hope this game development continues on...
NON.
if you like skull the hero slayer top reading reviews and just buy it!
Dragon is Dead hits different of its like genre games. At first I wanted to say it was off just a little bit and it has a little jank. But the combat, movement, and skill system is on point. The level design is more like Skul the hero slayer, which is fine but I feel lacking just a little bit. Overall its a great package with awesome pixel art, and I am have a great time.
