What an amazing cozy experience. I would describe this as a zen self care practice, disguised as a video-game.
I bought it for its board game aesthetics and because I was in the mood for something wholesome. I had one play session. That was some years ago. However, I have absolutely zero interest in ever playing this again. The thought alone of reinstalling it causes me to sigh. There is no mechanical depth and no other way to play or strategy to follow. You decide on a tite by tile basis and you will always try to maximize your score by making ideal choices. Every time. Because what else should you do? Many times you can't. And it only ends when you say you had enough or screw up on purpose. Well, no. The game allows you to start anew when you did enough, but that feels arbitrary and unfinished. There is no way to complete it, which my OCD riddled brain is not in agreement with. There is no satisfaction to be gained.
In trying to be challenging, the game's central tile generation algorithm is mostly just obnoxious. It spams the same piece you don't need, consistently prevents you from both completing tile quests and closing them out, and in general subverts all of the things about this game that would otherwise make it relaxing and enjoyable. It is an aesthetically pleasing game and the idea is great, but the number of times I've found peace and calm playing this game (it does happen) pales in comparison to the number of times I've rage-quit in utter frustration at the absurdity of useless pieces being generated one after another. If you're looking for a relaxing puzzle game, you may want to look elsewhere. After too many hours chasing the promise of calmness this game seemed to offer, my increased high blood pressure can confirm that promise as broken.
Very slick and incredibly relaxing!
I've been playing this game since it was in EA years ago. I'm really happy to see that it's popular and that the dev is doing well enough to release board game versions. If any game deserves it, it's this one!
This is one of my favourite chill games. I love the boardgame as well. It is pretty, the music is chill and it is fun to just keep completing the flags and sets. Worth a play if you want something relaxed, not too taxing on the old brain and can be stoped and started as neeeded.
It's a peaceful and cozy game that allows you to forget about your stressful life for a moment.
Such a cozy game
Very chill and lovely game. Delighted it's available on macos!
Super super fun, would love an arcade mode where you can get more points and different abilities and stuff... like an ability where you can make the tile a perfect match. I also would love an infinite mode, not like creative but one where tiles don't run out and you can keep playing and playing forever until you get the tiles that match. I looove this game and how each time you play, your map gets bigger and bigger... but sometimes its a little disheartening to spend all this time growing your map, and then you don't get the right tiles to to the quests, so you lose... maybe thats just a skill issue but I love this game regardless, its super addicting and actually a really good challenge too!
