This game is incredibly challenging and fun. I have grown to become addicted to speed running this game and i have managed to complete the entire game in roughly an hour. I have almost nothing to complain about. feels like playing doom in nightmare mode and i don't recommend for those who are easily frustrated. it is a fantastic game to speed-run because you can run at 1.5x speed diagonally.
Dismantled feels kind of like if Tobe Hooper directed The Island of Dr. Moreau It plays like a classic survival horror ala Resident Evil/Silent Hill but an FPS. The sound design is great, weird breathing moaning in the walls, wet meaty fleshy thumps when you hit bodies, abrasive droning industrial machine noises really help keep the hairs on your neck standing on end. Subdued ambient piano and synths feels very classic Resident Evil at times. The overall sprite and texture work is simple but effective. Overall this is a great game if you like unnerving dark horror shooters. highly reccomend. BUY IT
Great Game! Not Much for words. This is one of the reasons I love the Doom Modding community!
I played 9 hours of that game some years back and didn't finish it because I was getting frustrated with the puzzles. I wanted to continue right now but my save is corrupted and there is no f*c*ing way I start from scratch. Dismantled is a pretty cool game, I like the monster designs, the atmosphere, the combat but I can't stress enough how much I HATE how cheap the puzzles are. If you like watching youtube videos just to progress you will love this. You know how point and click games can be cheap with pixel hunting? This game is that kind of cheap, a good example is the first puzzle you will have to do.
You have to enter a code in a clock like xx:xx . So you expect that there will be a clock somewhere with the hour as the code, nope. You look at the notes you collected and try to see if there is hours, nope, you try other numbers on the notes, nope. The code is painted in red in a room but you have to be in a precise location and look at a precise angle just to f*c*ing see it. In that room there is blood everywhere might I add to camouflage it. So there was no hint for that puzzle and they expect you to look the whole map just to find it.
It's been a long time I didn't play this but I remember there was a lot of puzzles as cheap as that and it was really getting on my nerves. There is people that beat that game in 4 hours because they looked at youtube and every other reviews have 15 to 30 hours of playtime because the puzzles are f*c*ing retarded and do not respect youre time at all. Can't believe this game have that much positive reviews, avoid like plague.
The game idea is good. The main problem is unbalanced difficulty, badly designed puzzles and saving system. Enemies are really strong, while health pickups and opportunities to save the game are really limited. This problem causes frustration to arise lots of times. I couldn't focus on the plot because I got stuck many times on overpowered enemies or had to watch youtube in order to progress through the story. The main plus of this game is the visual retro style and sprites. Still, some of the areas felt really empty, such as roof with the first boss or the yard with the trapped girl. Some more 2d sprites would fit here really well, as well as more 3d objects. Besides that there is nothing much more to mention. Since the game is pretty cheap you can give it a try, but don't expect too much. Even tho I see passion in this project, it still needs to be polished.
This game takes me back to simpler times, when all i knew of games were the ones I google searched on my grandmother's pc when i used to visit her. I loved horror games, specially flash point and clicks, and of course, with no adult supervision at all, sometimes I ended up playing very violently graphic games like Exmortis and it's sequels. Dismantled reminds me of those games the most. It's unhinged and violent artstyle, along with the simplistic story help a lot with this feeling. There is something so noble about just being trapped in a big asylum/mansion with a mad scientist and it's creations. One day i got my first pc, it was second hand and ran on windows XP. Somehow I managed to install a Playstation emulator and downloaded resident evil 1, 2, 3, Silent hill and even the psx version of Doom. played the hell out of those games, by the end of every resident evil game, I could take a walk around all the map without getting lost, knowing the hallways of these games like the streets of my town. That is, because those games have an amazing level design, and Dismantled shares that trait, locked doors, obstructed hallways, verticality and shortcuts end up making the map itself the best and biggest puzzle the game has to offer. The great music, sound design and being in first person inmerse the player in the dense atmosphere the game offers. Gameplay-wise is a punishing game, you can die in a matter of seconds against some enemies even in full health if you are not careful enough, and the only way to save is using the limited ink ribbons in safe rooms that contain writing machines, so i found myself losing progress quite a lot of times. The bosses destroyed my will to live
Specially the doctor dude, appearing out of nowhere like nemesis just to produce me a cardiac arrest
Also, the game is loooong, as i write this, i've played for about 16 hours without having finished the Bittersweet Misery expansion. td;dr The level design is great, the sound design is great, the weapons are fun but the combat can get punishing. Getting lost is part of the experience and losing progress dying too imo. If you like resident evil, silent hill, cry of fear or anything like that then this game might be your cup of tea.
wath a piece of crap.author is mentally ill.dont forget to brink a magnifying glass becouse the game wants u instead of Doing crazy horror The game wants u to inspect every single texture for clues and keys to advance further.NO, i dont recommend this piece of ♥♥♥♥.it says its resident evil on doom engine but its neither.its a puzzle game for dumb kids who wannt to explore every texutre on the map
Where to begin? I first came across Dismantled on Gaming Jolt thanks to a friend about a year ago. I played some of it, then work got in the way and was unable to continue. After much procrastination I have finally taken the time to sit down and give the game a thorough playthrough and managed to actually beat it. I guess I should elaborate: This game is tough. It is actually extremely tough and really challenged me even on normal difficulty. If you are new to games like this and or even a seasoned veteran I'd probably recommend easy. You'll have more fun and make it through with more gear. But if you'd like by all means definitely try normal. Dismantled screams the 90's "F you" mentality to corporatism and I freaking love it. The game is gory, filled with nudity and graphic violence and it doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about it either. It revels in the violence and insanity and I for one wholeheartedly embrace the brutal, disgusting atmosphere for what it is. Too many games are censored beyond belief nowadays so it is nice and refreshing to observe a change of pace here with this title. (Even though it grosses me out haha) From the damp, dank halls of the basement to the eerily silent forest surrounding the estate this games atmosphere is present through and through. You know you should not be here and so you press on in search of the next key or puzzle to entangle oneself deeper in this maze of horrors in the hopes that maybe, just maybe you will live to see the light of day. I would like to commend the developer; I really enjoy the monster variety in this game. While some might annoy the hell out of me, I do appreciate the work put into each horror. Another point I would like to make is the sound variety. I adore the blast of the shotgun pounding into my eardrums with each successive shot. You can nearly feel the weight behind the blasts. Even the pistol sounds powerful, gunning down lab experiments left and right. I like this game, even the voice acting, which appears to be a point of contention among people who have played this. Frankly it doesn't bother me and only adds to that 90's charm I spoke of before. With all this said I do have a couple minor gripes. I wish there were more safe rooms. I'd die in certain segments before a tough fight and have to traverse the area over and over again which was a tad annoying. The hellish difficulty could also push people away as it is extremely unforgiving. And finally, some of the puzzle segments confused me to all hell. But that is probably most likely my own fault for not paying attention in certain segments. Those few hiccups I experienced may not bother you at all. But even so, I would not let that deter you from this game. Personally I think this is my favorite horror game of 2020. I had much more fun in this than the remake of Resident Evil 3. If you love games from the 90's then I highly recommend this awesome experience. It is definitely a blast from the past. Great job on your first game Pluie De Sang!
Meh. I love classic horror games and I was having decent fun playing (despite the floaty controls, obnoxious level design and crappy sound) but then I got stuck trying to figure out where to go after I got the bolt cutters, but I coudn't find an exit from the basement. The only ways where 3: the clock password door, the locked door with the secret halloween and the locked gate nearby where I got the bolt cutters. I imagined that the numbers for the password should be somewhere but I simply coudn't find it in the entire level. I finally caved in and looked online (something that I literally never do) and even searching fora guide or walktrough has hard. Then after all that I discover that the numbers are placed in the most stupid way possible, in a dumb location. Uninstalled the game right then and there, because this puzzle simply confirmed a feeling that I had during the whole game; that while the atmosphere is decent for a horror game, the game design itself is super amateurish, as exemplified by the dumb placement of the solution for that puzzle. So if the game has this level of poor design this early, I simply won't subject myself to more of this garbage as there are many more other indie horro games that I could be playing instead. Do not recommend, however cheap it is.
