I tried really hard to like this game. The beginning was great, and the second half was interesting for a while, but it gets very repetitive, and eventually just wasn't fun anymore so I stopped towards the end of the game and just watched the ending on Youtube. Overall it is a very cool atmosphere and has some great world building, but I just couldn't bring myself to finish it, despite not being overly difficult; just annoying. At 90% off for the winter sale however, it's worth a shot for anybody curious.
Suffer the Night was just exhausting. I pushed through everything only to miss one tarot card. After all that effort, it didn’t feel fair... The gameplay itself wasn’t enjoyable at all, the lore was the only thing that kept me going. 4/10
This game is designed to waste your time. Do you like terrible puzzles? Well great, get ready to do the exact same terrible puzzle 4 times in a row. Just avoid.
Suffer the Night is not a perfect game by any means, but it’s the kind of game I absolutely love despite being able to see how it can get easily disliked by others. What I like about it is the sheer variety of locations/gameplay due to how the game changes from one place to another, the attention to detail (it even has games within a game that are surprisingly deeper than expected), the voice acting of the main characters (Mr. Tops stole the show but Stacey did a good job too and she kept getting better in the good cheese kinda way), the way the collectibles/diaries are placed in the game (spaced out well and perfect with the amount of text), the story is surprisingly well told if you find all the notes and the novel use of the camera. There are a couple of flaws, some I hope will get ironed out with the developer’s other games, but they weren’t enough to sour my enjoyment. First, the game’s starting area is annoying and unclear about saving your progress. You cannot save manually like with the other areas and you don’t get any notification when it’s auto saving. When I transitioned to the next area, I thought it auto saved only to be let down when I loaded the game. Second, the game has missable collectibles without any warning, I was playing blindly early, then I found out I missed some. I decided to replay a big part with a checklist of the collectibles before moving on just to make sure I don’t miss any. Last, I wasn’t a big fan of the dark areas. I got better and I learned how to deal with it after a while though. Ultimately it’s a good game that is clearly made with love. But it’s not a game focused on a certain genre. Walking sim fans might dislike some of the fights, while action horror fans might not be satisfied with how it doesn’t go further with the action. I recommend the game to gamers who are open to a mix of genres, ones who want a good overall experience instead of being picky about certain parts and ones who don’t expect a challenging game but some parts might require a bit of effort, more than what you usually expect from a walking sim. The price of €12,50 is okay but it’s on sale often. That’s when it’s definitely worth it. It took me 7.3 hours to complete the game once and get all the achievements but as mentioned, I had to replay some sections and it took me some time to figure things out. Time might vary with others. 7 of the 10 achievements are obtained naturally and 3 are more specific: find all the collectibles, get a second ending and complete a mini-game.
I hate leaving negative reviews on indie games, but this entry by Tainted Pact just isn't worth your time. What initially seems like an intriguing premise about surviving a serial killer ends up being a hodgepodge of largely unrelated mechanics, creating an ineffective, diet Resident Evil game. The puzzles aren't particularly engaging, and neither is the combat, although I did enjoy my time with the final fight. There are collectibles that are annoying to collect, and traps that are annoying to navigate. If you watch some gameplay and are seriously drawn in, perhaps it's worth your time, but I would say most players won't get much out of it for the price. I'd say go play another, better game by the same dev: Terror at Oakheart.
(i give this game a 5 out off 10 ) I try to simply speak my mind in the reviews i leave and i try to fully see the game as i really do not want to leave negative reviews especially on indie games. BUT this game is pretty dang bad i am so sorry to say that. The graphics are not good, the animations are not good and the gameplay is decent it feels like playing a Fortnite horror map that is exactly how it feels and looks. The assets are probably made by them but it looks like a lot of random assets are mashed together into one game. It is sort of survival horror but there is more than enough bullets if you look around, you also cannot manage your health with healing or such things so it's barely survival you only have to look for obvious places to find a whole clip. It is like a Fortnite map that is how the gameplay is you go from one spot to another to grab "insert key" and then go to the door to unlock that door. There are bosses in this horror game for some reason but i was laughing more than i was scared or tense, a few of them are simply bunnies with weapons that are in bright playrooms that you need to kill by attacking batteries, you do this multiple times in a row as there is multiple bunny bosses. I do like the main horror entity in this game he sounds like a dumbed down joker at times but i do see the idea and design. The story is fine it is pretty scary in its concepts i have to give it that but the execution is lacking sadly. What i like about this game as well is that the ideas were nice and that i could see the passion to create leaking out from the sadly broken and unsatisfying "horror" game. After saying my good graces i recommend you do not play this game it is quite buggy to the extent of it having bugs that break or make sections almost impossible/annoying. Like one small thing that i think is just a simple fix to not let enemies follow you but one staircase you have to lay down and stand up again a few times to get back up because it's off the ground so enemies can't get to the safe zone from down there. Which is dumb because you need to go down there so you will be stuck down there trying to figure out how to use some stairs. This is one of the few issues which makes me think this game is quite unpolished and still i am sorry to say this but it is simply a bad game. 📃CHECKLIST REVIEW📃: 💗 Audience 💗 ☐ Beginners ☑ Casual Gamers ☐ Normal Gamers ☐ Expert Gamers 🌟 Graphics 🌟 ☑ Bad ☐ Alright ☐ Good ☐ Beautiful 🎙️Voice acting🎙️ ☐ None ☐ Bad ☑ Alright ☐ Good 🎼 Music 🎼 ☐ Bad ☑ Alright ☐ Good ☐ Really good ☐ Fantastic ☠️ Difficulty ☠️ ☑ Easy ☐ Average ☐ Hard ☐ Unfair 🪲Bugs 🪲 ☐ Bugs destroy the game ☑ Lots of bugs ☐ Few Bugs ☐ You can use them for speed-run ☐ Nothing encountered personally 📚 Story 📚 ☐ There is none i think ☐ Bad ☑ Alright ☐ Good ☐ Fantastic 🎮 Game-play 🎮 Survival horror Horror Small puzzles Key collecting 🕧 Game time / Length 🕧 ☐ Really short (0 - 3 hours) ☑ Short (4 - 8 hours) ☐ Few hours (10 - 20 hours) ☐ Long (40-60 hours) ☐ Very Long (60-100 hours) ☐ Extremely Long (100+ hours) 💵Price / Quality 💵 ☐ Full price ☐ Wait for Sale ☑ Don't buy
Man I'm so sad that I have to give this game a negative review, the beginning of the game was so damn good and scary, but afterwards it sucked Same enemies, same braindead puzzles, just why? The game started out so good why would you go that path? The creepy masked dude's acting was good and really creeped me out, why not just make the game more about him and not cringe braindead puzzles?| Please put a damn manual saving system, not all scary games need to be like resident evil, also for some reason when I open this game it opens my SteamVR? 4.5/10 because it has potential, but I don't recommend this game unless you intend to play only for the first 30 mins
a forgettable experience, the first part of the game is very nice and well-crafted, the idea at the beginning of the game is really nice... but after the attic part ends, the game becomes ugly, not scary, boring with unintelligent and not very fun ideas... I never speak badly of a game but this was one of the worst experiences I played in live streaming in the last year
