About
Detective Rainy Night places you in the shoes of Iker Carmona, a police officer tasked with investigating strange disappearances in the area.
After driving all day, Iker decides to spend the night at a motel called “Holiday.”
The next morning, he hears an argument outside his room. Upon stepping out, he discovers there is no electricity, mobile phones and computers aren’t working, vehicles won’t start, and it has begun to rain heavily.
Seven guests are staying at the motel alongside you, each with their own story. As the weather worsens and vehicles remain unusable, no one can leave the motel.
Over five days divided into 12 narrative-driven levels, you will experience unexplained phenomena, disappearances, deaths, and cryptic symbols—all unfolding within the motel.
As a police detective, your role will involve speaking to guests, interrogating them, and piecing together the truth behind these events.
Detective Rainy Night is a guided narrative adventure with elements of deduction. Throughout the game, events will unfold that you’ll need to recall later to solve the case.
Violent crimes, mature stories, and psychological terror await you in the Motel Holiday. Grab a pen and paper because cracking this case won’t be easy.

The Demo was very promising at first so I was looking forward to play the whole game. The story is short and the game environment overall is in a small sphere. Currently there are some annoying bugs which are destroying a fluent gameplay. In my opinion a fluent experience should be mandatory for a game with this concept. I'd like to see some improvements for the future. Some dialogues are very stiff and suddenly mid-game the game rushes you into some political discussions with the npcs. Also the notebook 'feature' doesn't seem to work very well. I for example had only two clues written down - where other players had a lot of entries in their notebooks. Also some translations are extremly weird. I was wondering wth "Sacales" was. Some questions in day 4 refer with "it" and then with "he" to the creature - very odd. I saw a lot potential in this game, as of today I can't recommend it. K148, I appeal to you - please do some QoL changes to this game.
I have no idea why this game has mixed reviews. I loved it. The game was beautiful. The dialogue was better than a lot of other games I have played. I don’t think that the game got weirdly political as some other others have written in their reviews. The characters were simply having a conversation and we were learning more about them in the process. To me it felt like a lot of love went into this game. As a result, I will give their other games a try as well despite the fact that the reviews are not great.
I first came across Detective: Rainy Night when I played the demo last year, and I remember being genuinely excited about the premise. The atmosphere, the rainy noir setting, and the idea of solving a mystery had a lot of promise. It felt like the kind of small indie detective story that could really lean into its mood and storytelling. Unfortunately, after playing the full release, it didn’t quite live up to the expectations that the demo set. One of the biggest surprises was just how short the game is. I went in expecting a bit more depth to the mystery and the world, but the experience ended much sooner than anticipated. Because of that, the story never really has time to properly develop, and it ends up feeling a little surface level. The narrative itself also felt a bit robotic at times. Conversations tend to be very direct and matter of fact, with very little emotional weight behind them. In a game that relies heavily on story and atmosphere, that lack of emotion makes the characters and events feel less impactful than they probably should. Another thing that stood out was the lack of actual gameplay. The experience often feels more like being guided step by step through the story rather than truly investigating anything yourself. Handholding isn’t always a bad thing, especially in narrative driven games, but here it takes away from the eerie detective vibe the game was so close to achieving. It feels like it wanted to create that tense investigative atmosphere but never quite gave the player the freedom to engage with it. I picked the game up on sale, and even then I still felt that the price point was a little high for what’s actually there. Personally, it feels more like a £1 to £3 experience based on the length and depth of the content. That said, it’s not something I wouldn’t recommend. If you can grab it at a steep discount and you’re just looking for a short, quick playthrough with a moody rainy atmosphere, it might still be worth a look. Just go in with the expectation that it’s a very brief and fairly simple experience rather than a deep detective mystery.

Little do you know you're in for a very unsettling five days.
Technical
Unreal Engine. Doesn't really do much with the engine, everything here can pretty easily be put together with any engine. It's competent at what it sets out to do, so don't have any criticism to put on the technical side aside from the cursor remaining on screen after using the notebook (press esc to open the game menu, then press esc again, and the cursor should go away)
Voicework
NA - None
Overall Review
This one is a bit tricky. It does what it sets out to, it tells a story, and it doesn't let the gameplay get in the way of said story. I'll avoid spoiling much of the story, as that's really what this game comes to the table with, but it's a similar feel to 'Until Dawn', though the production quality is quite a bit lower, and wearing the skin of a detective game, though it doesn't do much with it. All objectives are clearly laid out, you won't be confused about what to do as it always says EXACTLY what you need to do in the upper right, down to eating instructions. At the end of the day, this is a charming indie horror game. It's simple, not very scary, it could do with a bit more polish, but it's very charming, and interesting enough that I'm happy I gave it a spin. At 85 minutes for the playthrough, it's a decently interesting distraction. The main tipping point here is the price. At 10,79€ it's way too expensive for what it is... 5 or so would be more reasonable, and probably boost sales a bit. I'll give it a recommendation, but only if you can get it with at least 40% discount, preferably 50 or more.

《DETECTIVE - Rainy night》

This was a really good game I will be recommending it to others.
