super game, simple but super !
Прикольная игрушка, рассчитана по принципу быстро пройти уровень, поскольку монстры лезут бесконечно, но в целом игра зашла. Для любители пошаговых с зомбаками, сюжет интересный.
viel zu kurze Story
Dead Season is a grim and unforgiving tactical survival game that captures the desperation of a zombie apocalypse far better than most modern undead-themed titles. Instead of turning players into unstoppable action heroes armed with endless weapons, the game focuses on vulnerability, fear, and difficult decision-making. Developed by Snail Bite and published by Iceberg Interactive, the experience centers on a small group of survivors trying to stay alive in a world collapsing under the weight of infection and violence. Every mission feels tense because survival is never guaranteed, and even small mistakes can quickly lead to disaster. The gameplay blends turn-based strategy with survival horror mechanics in a way that constantly pressures the player. Battles are not designed around domination or flashy combat sequences. Instead, players must carefully manage movement, ammunition, positioning, and noise levels while navigating maps crowded with infected enemies. One of the game’s smartest mechanics is its use of sound as a threat. Loud weapons and reckless actions attract additional zombies, turning every gunshot into a tactical risk. This system forces players to think carefully before engaging enemies directly, making stealth and resource conservation just as important as combat skill. The combat itself feels methodical and intense. Characters are fragile, resources are limited, and enemy numbers can become overwhelming quickly if players lose control of the situation. Unlike many strategy games where stronger units eventually trivialize encounters, Dead Season maintains a constant sense of danger throughout the campaign. Even experienced survivors remain vulnerable, which helps preserve the oppressive atmosphere from beginning to end. The game excels at making players feel trapped inside desperate situations where survival often depends on improvisation rather than brute force. Mission variety also plays an important role in keeping the experience engaging. The campaign features multiple handcrafted scenarios built around scavenging, escaping dangerous zones, rescuing survivors, and surviving overwhelming attacks. Rather than repeating the same objectives constantly, the game introduces different environmental challenges and tactical situations that force players to adapt their strategies. Some maps reward slow and cautious movement, while others create intense pressure by surrounding players with rapidly growing hordes. This variation prevents the gameplay loop from becoming repetitive and reinforces the unpredictability of the apocalypse setting. Narratively, Dead Season chooses a grounded and straightforward approach. The story follows a small collection of ordinary people attempting to survive as society collapses around them. Instead of focusing on large-scale conspiracies or exaggerated drama, the game keeps its attention on human survival and emotional exhaustion. The survivors are not portrayed as legendary heroes but as desperate individuals trying to make impossible decisions in terrible circumstances. This grounded tone helps strengthen the emotional weight of the experience, even if the story itself remains relatively simple. The visual design complements the atmosphere effectively. The top-down perspective creates a tactical overview during combat while still preserving tension through dark environments and claustrophobic locations. Abandoned streets, ruined buildings, and blood-covered interiors all contribute to the bleak tone of the world. The comic-inspired presentation style also works surprisingly well, giving cutscenes and character moments a gritty visual identity without requiring massive production values. While the graphics are not technically groundbreaking, the art direction succeeds at creating a world that feels hopeless and dangerous. Sound design is another area where the game performs well. The distant groans of zombies, echoing gunfire, and quiet ambient effects all help maintain constant tension. Music is used sparingly, allowing moments of silence and environmental noise to build unease naturally. This restrained approach strengthens immersion because the game rarely tries to artificially force emotion through overly dramatic soundtracks. Instead, the atmosphere emerges organically from the constant threat surrounding the player. Character progression adds depth without breaking the game’s balance. Survivors gradually improve through gained abilities and specialization, allowing players to shape their team according to preferred strategies. Some characters become more effective fighters while others provide support or utility roles. However, progression never completely removes the feeling of vulnerability. Even upgraded characters can die quickly if players become careless, which keeps every mission tense regardless of how much experience the team gains. The game does have some limitations. The campaign is smaller in scope compared to massive tactical RPGs, and the story follows familiar zombie apocalypse themes without introducing many major surprises. Certain difficulty spikes can also feel punishing, especially when missions suddenly overwhelm players with large enemy groups. Additionally, the game’s harsh survival mechanics may frustrate players looking for a more casual or power-driven tactical experience. Dead Season demands patience, careful planning, and a willingness to accept failure. Despite these flaws, the game succeeds because of how consistently it commits to its survival horror identity. It understands that fear in a zombie apocalypse should come from scarcity, pressure, and uncertainty rather than endless combat spectacle. The constant tension created by limited resources and overwhelming odds gives every encounter emotional weight. Few tactical strategy games manage to make survival feel this exhausting and dangerous. Dead Season ultimately delivers a tense and atmospheric strategy experience built around desperation and tactical decision-making. It may not reinvent the zombie genre completely, but it succeeds at combining survival horror with turn-based combat in a way that feels genuinely stressful and immersive. Players who enjoy difficult tactical games, oppressive atmospheres, and survival-focused gameplay will likely find a lot to appreciate here. Beneath its rough edges lies a smart and engaging strategy game that understands how terrifying survival can feel when every bullet and every decision matters. Rating: 7/10
Dead Season is a simple short and sweet game. I am a veteran of this type of strategy game having played every Xcom, Miasma Chronicles, Mutant Year Zero, and Hard West, so of course this game grabbed my interest. It doesn’t do anything new that those games haven’t, in fact it is kind of lacking features. In terms of unique features from other games in the genre it has this “pass” feature where you can toss an item to another survivor and it is neat but I don’t think it is used to its full potential. I would have liked it if there were more scenarios where I found I needed to use the feature rather than just have Matt be my runner for objectives once I unlocked the Dash ability. That leads into an issue with abilities. The games I previously listed have cool unlockable abilities that have great impacts on movement or big swing turns to kill many enemies. This game has a lack of active abilities AKA zero active abilities. Every ability is passive and some come into play if you make some decisions. Like everyone can unlock Patience which activates when you end a turn with at least 1AP. However it is not unique to any one character to I got that for everyone ASAP. Each character only has about three unique abilities in their ability list and Dash for Matt was by far the best one. Weapons aren’t very distinct as they all do one damage, only exception being the AK-47 because it shoots in three round bursts. The shotgun hit chances are awful unless your kissing a zombie. Each weapon was very OK but they never felt very distinct from one another because there are no crit chances for the player to potentially get. The enemy types were unique enough for the games length but the spitter and leapers were by far the scariest types when they appeared on screen. Those were the two I had to pay extra attention to in order to not get snipped or pinned. Now this game is currently listed at $20 as base price and no offense to the devs I don’t know the situation behind the scenes, but that is far too high for what is offered here. I got the game at $7.99 on sale and I felt good about buying it at that price. So even with everything I said above, I believe this is worth your money IF it is on sale. If money is no concern to you then try out Dead Season! I would very much still be interested in a Dead Season 2 if it were to ever become a thing.
Fun small turn based tactical that should rank higher. Varied missions, nice story that doesn't overstay its welcome, Innovative mechanics such as noise limit instead of ammo limit etc. Only cons not much difference between the 4 characters, and lackluster perks that force you to play smarter rather than brute force with upgrades. Hard mode is the real % mode. Ignore NEGATIVE reviews. RNG is clearly in your favor in normal and even in hard I suspect the game helps you at critical points. Losing gear is annoying but keeps the tension up and forces you to loot. Playtime is plenty. Replayble at least twice to do all scenarios. Maybe some genius finished hard in 5hrs, but if it was that fast and easy how come only 3.8% of players even managed to beat the game on hard mode ?
打折可玩,平庸的回合制战棋,没有什么构筑,除了女警用双枪其他人全部突击步枪完事,整体剧情略短,结局后应该做个分支可选,直接玩
Quite a short game but it was a lot of fun.
