About
In 1985 England, private investigator Miles Windham follows a lead on the mysterious death of his daughter that takes him to Velvet Island. But once he arrives on the island, he soon realizes that the residents are behaving strangely. In fact, there is a growing hostility towards the investigator that feels as though it is becoming stronger by the minute. It doesn't take long until the situation escalates and Miles finds himself in a struggle for his own survival.
Dead of Darkness is a survival-horror action-adventure with cosmic horror influences.
Complex, multi-layered narrative. Meet more than 15 characters over the course of the game - each with their own story that revolves around the terrible secrets of Velvet Island.
Challenging survival-horror. Resources are scarce, your inventory is limited, and danger lurks around every corner. Plan your routes carefully if you want to survive.
Intense hallucinations. Each enemy encounter takes a toll on your mental state. The lower your mental state, the stronger the hallucinations you will experience - some will even blur the distinction between reality and fiction.
Relentless enemies. 13 different enemies are hungry for your flesh, and some of them will stalk you relentlessly. Fight them, run from them, or use your wits to outsmart them.
Become a detective. Search your environment, inspect items and read documents in order to unlock clues. Use these clues to reveal hidden troves or unlock secret passageways.

Classic survival horror
At firs I wasn't expecting much from the game, but don't let the pixel graphic fools you, it has good horror atmosphere and a nice story to keep you up until you finish the game. all puzzles in the game require common sense to be solved.
Sadly I can't recommend this game. I'm a big fan of the classic survival horror games, but this game regurgitates puzzles too much. I've only played for a bit, and have already encountered the Piano puzzle and the picture frame puzzle from Resident Evil 1. Then annoyingly, this game does not pause when in the inventory, interacting with objects or reading files. The fact you're limited to 8 directions for aiming can mess up your shots as well, which is bad given the copious amounts of enemies and limited ammo. I really wanted to like this game. It opened really strongly with some interesting characters with good voice acting and start of a original story with a detective angle compared to the standard survival horror. But so far that had only meant combining clues with items.
survival horror in pixel art veramente ben fatto!!!
A truly harrowing pixel art horror adventure with a surprising amount of difficulty. Not without its faults (certain instant-death enemies or sections were a bit frustrating), but everything else was so engrossing that it's hard to view the game too negatively for them. I would love to play more games in this setting.
This game is AMAZING. It's like a Resident Evil 2 in pixel art. It's not perfect (I hate the lantern with all my heart), but it has a great gameplay, a great story and a satisfying ending. I really hope that the story will continue. Try this out; you will not be disappointed
This game is what the old school gamers are looking for. I really thank you for this amazing piece of work. It's been 4 hours. And I'm really enjoying every second of it. Mansion, musics, sounds, feelings everything is just perfect. This game carries the spirit of classic Resident Evil 1-2-3 with a top down camera angle with pixel graphics. I won't forget this game. Deep thanks for the old but gold feelings of the retro horror classic games.
Great game we got right here. A 2D survival horror mostly on the side of classic RE games but longer, better characters, a more complex story and pretty good VA performances for the most part. Pros: 1) Pretty good sprite art. 2) Great VAs. 3) Good story that made me want more. I wanna play the sequel. 4) Ammo scarsity is a more serious aspect than in the classic RE games, you need to avoid as many enemies as possible, though sometimes you must eliminate some of them (besides bosses). 5) Pretty good length. Some RE fans may argue this game is too long for the genre but I preffer it this way. 6) Pretty good characters. Cons: 1) The knife worns out. Yeah, the worst weapon in the game needs to be repaired. Now, you're able to use it at 0% but its damage decreases drastically. 2) The voices are really loud when compared to everyother sound source. 3) If you use a controller (I used a PS5 one) you must use the left analog stick to move, 'cause the D-Pad is reserved for quick switching of weapons. 4) Most bosses are rather boring, you just run un circles to avoid their attacks, shoot and repeat until they die. 5) Sometimes it could use an indicator on the map about where the main objective is, IIRC RE1 had something simple like that. 6) Sometimes you can get softlocked for some bosses if you don't have enough ammo, and even against certain non-boss enemies 'cause they can murder you before you can even use the knife on them.
Very great game for survival horror fan, specially resident evil fans. the only problem I have is the fact that it doesn't pause when I use my inventory
