Lamentum is a pixel art survival-horror game set in New England in the mid-nineteenth century. To solve the dark secret at the heart of Grau Hill Mansion, you will have to immerse yourself in a nightmare world full of terrible creatures.
Choose well in whom to trust, every decision you make may alter the course of the story.
Will you survive?
Lamentum is inspired by classic survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill along with cosmic horror masterpieces, especially the Cthulhu mythos.
Lamentum is a dark and adult-themed game, in which the player can enjoy classic survival-horror gameplay.
Lamentum is a classic survival horror, so our protagonist will attain different weapons and tools during his stay at Grau Hill Mansion.
Victor will need a lamp to see in the dark, to use lock picks to open sealed doors and chests and use restoratives to recover his health. A myriad of other tools will be needed to forge a path through this twisting nightmare world.

To defend against the dangers that haunt him, Victor will have many melee and ranged weapons at his disposal.

Each weapon is different and has unique strengths and weaknesses. Choosing your weapon carefully is essential to survival.

Firearms provide a huge advantage due to their range, but they consume ammunition, a resource that is scarce in Grau Hill Mansion.

Many items may be hidden at first, use your ingenuity to find them.

You can play Lamentum with keyboard and mouse (in the PC version) or use a gamepad.

Your inventory is limited, and you will have to choose which objects to carry at each moment. In certain places you can use the item box to store objects for later use.

Our inventory system allows you to create shortcuts to frequently used objects.
This system allows players, for example, to quickly switch between a melee weapon, a ranged weapon and a potion, making combat more agile and effective.
In addition, we can consult a diary that will record the thoughts and annotations of our protagonist.

The world of Lamentum is full of nightmare creatures, each of them with different behaviors and attacks.

Creatures are not the only danger in Grau Hill Mansion, there are traps that will reward your ingenuity or punish your mistakes with death, dangerous puzzles, and lethal environments.

During your nightmarish journey you will meet other characters and strange beings. Think carefully about who you trust and who you don’t… every decision you make can have important consequences.

Lamentum will have different endings depending on Victor’s decisions during the game. We want Lamentum to be a replayable experience and a challenge to obtain the best possible end.

Lamentum is a top down pixel art horror game. In this game your character explores a huge 1800’s manor and its surrounding grounds. Gameplay involves exploring, solving puzzles, and shooting / stabbing grotesque monsters. The game has a lovecraftian / gothic vibe. There are 4 endings to discover, and the game takes approximately 6 hours to complete. The limited inventory and save system is taken straight out of the retro Resident Evil franchise. *It is highly recommended to use a controller instead of a keyboard for this game. + The game is atmospheric and the grotesque monsters are well designed. + The game has an original soundtrack and the sound design is exceptional. + The story is above average and captures interest. +/- For the most part the puzzles are original and well designed, however several puzzles near the end of the game are a bit too obscure and confusing. - The last third of the game is tedious, with too much backtracking, For me, the last hour of the game felt like a chore. - As more of the game map opens up, it is easy to get lost and not know where to go or what to do. - There are 4 endings, but they are all short. I would have put more emphasis on one large definitive ending. - One of the endings is almost impossible to achieve without a guide. The game starts off excellent, but gets tedious and fizzles out during the final act. Overall: 7.5/10
Although the concept is good, the game lacks fundamental use cases, thus making the gameplay experience extremely annoying. 1. You die with one hit and just by touching the monsters in hard mode, and there are tons of them. This makes you repeat the same scene over and over again, and the difficulty concept is nonsense and no fund. 2. There is no "continue" feature when you die, you have to browse the saves every time you die (and you die a lot), and find the latest (they are not ordered by recentness) one among a ton of saves. 3. There is no skipping those extremely long dialogues, and if you especially happen to die in a spot where you have a dialog, you have to go through it many times. Along with other annoyances, as a developer I know that fixing these fundamental issues would took very little effort, the developers chose not to bother at all. This is a major negligence, and should be directed to those folks ♥♥♥♥♥ considering to purchase the game. Indie game concept is not where you can skip every single major fundamental of a game what makes it one, and expect folks to be tolerant about it.
This is either 2D Amnesia, or Darkest Dungeon: A Link to the Past. I don't know which it is yet... maybe it's both. Or neither. It's weird, dark, creepy and I like it.
A ambientação é o grande destaque. Nota: 8,5/10.
I think it is a great game. The story is fine. It was interesting to see a mix of Lovecraftian and Frankenstein lore. The characters were memorable. The Eldrich horror was tangible. The gameplay was easy to navigate. There was enough variety of things to do, except maybe a couple, such as the doll. Even the non-negotiable punishments, such as the rope and first coin tossing into the fountain, are acceptable. There are problems, such as necessity to check every inch to get teeth and coins. Also, there are loop holes. More notes and more dialogues could fix the issues. Also, the final boss for S ending could be nice.
