Dead Man's Rest

This is a lovely little visual novel. Played through only one route so far, but looking forward to the others. The art isn't really my style, but there's nothing wrong with it. Soundtrack is perfect. The glossary is accurate, and I appreciated the attention to detail as far as the historical accuracy/context was concerned. The route I took was about 3 hrs, so it's a good length as well.

The plot is solid. The game isn't overly long with one playthrough so it goes at a good pace. I feel like there's good pay off. It's a shame you only win a kiss in the end, that's a bit tame. The art for the characters and some of the plot is good but the backgrounds sometimes are a bit rough. There's no voice acting and very little sound effects. It's bare bones but if you go in with that in mind you'll have a good time.

This is the fifth Argent Games VN I've played and it's as expected of them, and Taza's so beautiful and cute! There's only few characters who can pull of elegantly the long hair style and I love to see it.

nahh the story's soo good я не хочу з ними прощатися. чудово проведені 11 годин мого життя. прощавай, лі, і інші 500 pathetic gays. really enjoyed the glossary btw, the atmosphere, the way characters communicate, really made it feel like i was there, on the wild wild west lmao.

I really loved playing this game as there were some really intriguing periodically accurate plotlines! It kept me hooked and I only wished the game was longer! By far my favourite routes were John and also Bill's they were both the most interesting characters which seemed the most human/realistic to me. I don't have the heart to play any of the bad ends because I ended up trying one on Bill's route and it left me in tears. The writing is wonderful and really tugs at your heartstrings!

It's sweet and mysterious and you learn some fun old ways people said stuff. Fun game

The art was a little deceptive but I tried the game anyway. The writing in this is really good, there wasn't a route where I wasn't choked up or sad. Some of the endings really were painful to get through. My poor sweet Jed for starters....

I didn't really like the game at first I'll be honest. It changed after I started the second route. You really should play them all. It will change your perception of the game. I played through Taza, Hollis, Jed, John, ???, then the neutral route. Everyone should play at least a couple routes and the neutral route imo. You can see the story play out in interesting ways and get different perspectives. My favorite paths were good Hollis, good John, and good ???. Mind the warnings as they are pretty important. Also prepare for some hilarious language. I read the glossary a lot because I hadn't heard a lot of the words or phrases before. Overall, I was impressed with the way the narrative was handled in different routes. I wouldn't have been sad to see more content, but I was happy with what was presented. There's a decent romance scene for each romance. The CGs were nice. I got all the achievements and some of the bad paths are really sad. It still enjoyed seeing the differences though.
