Dead Man's Rest

One of the best games I've played in many years and I've played hundreds. Amazing characters, very good music/sound choices, great artwork, and FANTASTIC WRITING. They take their tags seriously, build their characters well, and deal with difficult topics so so well. None of the annoying stereotypes, everyone is an intelligent person and you can really sympathize with them and the story. LIKE they put this whole thing together with a legitimate desire to tell a good heartfelt story. So often the story takes a backseat to weird or out of place "romance" that is handled poorly or turned into something sinister. But not here! You can just play, and relax, and absorb the story knowing that it will take care of you and take you on a journey that you will enjoy and want more of. Definitely a game to replay in the future<3 PROS: Literally almost everything. Amazing CGs that I wish there were more of (but don't you always want more of a good thing:). God tier writing. I feel I'm repeating myself... Like everything except a single thing was perfect. CON: Taza is white? The only thing that confused me was the Native American man who grew up in the desert under constant beaming sunlight being so so pale. And he has gold eyes? I really liked his story but he...is very white?? Definitely buy it though. It's awesome.

Несмотря на жанр, это хорошая, приятная новелла сама по себе. В целом всё достаточно целомудренно. Детективная история с элементами драмы в сеттинге вестерна. Аудио сопровождение хорошо способствует атмосфере и передаёт настроение. Персонажи на своих местах и не вызывают ощущения искусственности, они кажутся вполне реальными. Все любовные интересы способны вызвать симпатию - кто-то сразу, кто-то по мере более близкого знакомства. Честно говоря в какой-то момент у меня даже мелькала мысль, что хотелось бы побольше вот таких игр: атмосферных, достаточно серьёзных и с интересным сюжетом; только за минусом романтической составляющей. Ничего против не имею (по крайней мере в этой игре), просто хочу сказать, что эта игра вполне самодостаточна и без любовных линий (надеюсь, я понятно выразился). Из замечаний - чистые мелочи. Некоторые изображения в галерее открывались раньше, чем я получал их по сюжету (в частности - хорошие концовки). В паре [абсолютно линейных, не зависящих от игрока] мест я категорически не был согласен с тем, что говорил протагонист. В остальном он достаточно серьёзный здравомыслящий человек, что меня очень радует. Ну и, наверно, хочется сказать, что разные руты могут так или иначе искажать впечатление о других ЛИ. Это было как-то странно. Как и общий подход к результатам расследования и условиям преступления с перспективы полностью пройденной игры. Хоть и получаешь ответы на вопросы, которые могут возникнуть по ходу сюжета (кто-то может и не задумываться о них), всё равно остаётся лёгкое замешательство от попыток соединить все точки в целостную картину. 8/10

A great game! Definitely worth the cost. The choices feel open and there are multiple ways to enter the common routes, giving a more natural feel to the relationships. Now, I keep getting bad endings, but they're well written, so I don't even mind lol. If I were to complain, I would say that the art style for the sprites feels inconsistent at times, to the point where I would believe that Jed, Hollis, and John were all from different games if I saw them out of context. I have really enjoyed this game, and I look forward to getting the other endings, the achievements, and completing the glossary (such a grand goal!). Good music, good writing, and surprisingly challenging gameplay. Maybe that last one is just me haha...

bills bad ending got me ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up

Every route has its charm and all are pretty enjoyable. I can't speak for the Hollis one since I skipped it and only did it to get the extra one you can only unlock after playing all the rest.

I loved Red Embrace Hollywood so much that I wanted to play another game by these devs. This one was not at all what I was expecting. In the 10 minutes I played there were absolutely no choices. The main character was already pre-prepared and there was no choice of name, look, or any customization at all. So far I found no optional text. It was just a straight read. Presumably this would change as things moved on but I already felt like an observer rather than a participant. It wasn't a good first impression. Also, I really don't like western settings much so maybe that was part of it. The author made an effort to incorporate real historical idioms in the dialogue which was kind of interesting. It did make the dialogue feel kind of stilted for me though. I didn't relate well to the language. The music bothered me too because though each musical piece fit it's scene ok, they were pretty different from each other. There needed to be transitions in the music going between scenes. Lacking that, the scenes feel emotionally disconnected as the story moved me around. I'm sure there are people out there who will appreciate this game as they spend more time with it but I really got off on the wrong foot. Sorry to say it has to be a thumbs down from me and a refund request.

Невероятно душевная игра. Ни один конец не оставляет неравнодушным. За эти деньги-бриллиант. 1 рут проходится за пару часов(рутов 5+доп секретные концовки). Советую всем любителям душевных историй с драмой.

One of the best visual novels I've played storywise, never boring and you will grow to love every character.

Very good game, characters have a lot of depth, each story line is unique to play through, hot men, 10/10
