This is an interesting game that puts relationships and breaking up in the focus. Although short I found it interesting so much so that I did additional walkthroughs. The entire story takes place in the protagonist's apartment but you may still find new things when playing the game again. I appreciate these indie games that always try something new, something unique. This can also evoke some good (or bad) memories when playing the game so it is a bit more personal than your average video game. I found the voice acting great and in terms of design the game has a minimalistic but very appropriate approach of showing your surroundings. Try it in case you're eager for something new, original.
Dumped By Your Girlfriend: Pretentious Pretend-Philosophy Edition
10 minute game where you get dumped by your girlfriend in a single-room copy/pasted Unity game. It's another one of those games made by snobby students who think they're really on to something and that they're really in on all this philosophy stuff and they really get it and what they create have grandiose deep meanings, when in reality its just pretentious meaningless crap, simple as that. It's pointless game where you listen to cringe dialogue. No one speaks like that... This is how I imagine the face of people who make garbage like this: https://i.imgur.com/gSa3rdX.png
Curator page
If you liked this review or otherwise found it helpful in deciding whether or not to buy this game, feel free to follow my Curator page.

A really short story game. It is an ok experience if you get it for free or extremely cheap somewhere, but I would not pay money for it.
“Thing-in-Itself” is a short story about the struggles of understanding another. You follow the story of Teddy and Molly a couple (starting out what seems to be an okay relationship) that falls apart right apart in front of you. I enjoy this game for several reasons, the biggest being the music, atmosphere, and the voice acting; often this game reminded me of a short films in such ways. It can be disheartening and sad at times, but after all not all things in life can be happy... and in short it shows perfectly the struggles of "understanding one and oneself." Please feel free to give this game a look if you enjoy interactive simulations that show realistic actions/perspectives. Also, you have a pet fish named Henry so that is just a 10/10 right there. If you have questions regarding achievements or secrets you cannot find or see in the community hub for this game, feel free to contact me for help or do some light google hopping. Good luck!
很短的恋爱脑男伤痛文学。游戏中加入了意识流的元素并启用创新性的场景建设,一种很新的小说式游戏体验。 缺点是流程太短。
For those philosophy lovers like myself, this game is great! Though with some gripes, please buy and play it if you like philosophy and a game where you drift along for the ride, making decisions along the way (TLDR) Now moving on, to the more nitty gritty, this game offers a unique gameplay experience and story. Though the thing is, the "decisions" aren't ones that really change up the story, but they do add a sense of "what would I do?" and you pick those while feeling accomplished, but for going back and doing it again for those "different responses" is the difference of ONE line or two. Though the actual routes are a tad bit different as they offer unique doorways to a facade of "difference stories"... BUT it doesn't go anywhere with "leaving the apartment" or stuff like that. The length is short, but it doesn't feel like a bad thing once you finish, especially for the price, but of course, could have been longer. Ok, so this game is a philosophical gaming piece and I... LOVE IT, for the thinkers out there give it a try and it will give you that gaming itch for more. You can't complain about the price either. Great voice acting, cool visuals, and some moments got me like i was there and its HAUNTING how cool it is to have a philosophy game... I WANT MORE! So that's why I'm kinda critical about it. So, PLEASE, play this game and support it and creators/games alike! 8/10 (great game with such cool concepts and stories, though short) How we associate objects with experiences and people, this story works to the concept's advantage! Great stuff! How when those people or experiences are taken away or altered, we can start losing those object's identity. Could be fun to explore what happens when we lose the OBJECT but keep the person. How these things affect our everyday lives. Great job guys, keep it up!
After playing and enjoying "From Head to Toe" and "A Lozenge," I decided to go back and try the first Steam release from developer Party of Introverts. I'd looked at the Steam page before, but the description never grabbed me. After playing it, though, I'm glad I did. Thing-in-Itself explores an idea I've heard a few different ways before - once by Kim Krizan in Richard Linklater's film "Waking Life," and again in a statement I've read that's been attributed to both Anaïs Nin and the Talmud: "We don't see things as they are...we see things as we are." Although I've studied some philosophy, I don't remember explicitly reading Kant - perhaps I should? Even so, I very much appreciated the way that Party for Introverts illustrated the idea through a game, depicting a deteriorating relationship - something familiar to many. The game has fitting music, and excellent voice acting that brings Molly & Ted to life. The only con, for me, was the insistence that I contact Molly upon the
death of my fish. I felt that she had made it clear that she was not interested in hearing from Ted, and I wanted to respect that. Ted instead created an awkward situation that only served to bring pain to both parties.
However, you live, you learn. And although Thing-in-Itself is a game that gives you a certain degree of agency, Party for Introverts has a specific story they'd like to tell.
-..but, I can't do this. Please try to understand me. --I thought you said it's not possible. -What isn't? --To really understand anybody. -Oh. Ha. I guess I did..
