Daughter of Essence

I have played this game from their free build variant uploaded on multiple platforms. This game has a variety of unique art styles for the 18+ scenes, a long story driven plot and various ways to build your character to challenge the likes of the world. This game does not operate like others where you grind to obtain multiple 18+ scenes, making the game's playthrough last only 2 hours. I recommend all who see this game to give it a try, regardless if you believe the art style to be unsatisfactory or that your choices in game deeply matter.

really liked it, occasionaly clunky but not that much seing the ambition of it and the fact that it's mainly a one person project, i play dozens of hours on the demo before the full game was release and replayed the full game with pleasure

I will keep this incredibly brief. I found the gameplay to be the worst thing about this game. The story, characters, world and development was at least for me enjoyable. Mostly! It rushes to fall off a cliff in the final act. I just wanted a Yuri game and I got an adventure. So recommended. However if you don't enjoy the initial combat you do, know it doesn't really get much better. [spoiler] It took everything in me not to rant about the gameplay aspects I despise for a dozen paragraphs.[/spoiler]

Honestly, this might be one of the better stories a game has tried to tell imo. And as odd is that is to say about an hGame, jokes aside, it really is a very good story. The hScenes are few and far between and feel almost like an after-thought... Almost like the devs wanted to make a normal game but couldn't get much support for it without going back and slapping some random scenes in here and there. Again, they're sporadic and more of a nice little bonus when you do encounter it but they're not that special compared to other hGames, especially RPGMaker hGames. They're always still images that kinda just flash on screen after a black box explains the scene. The real draw of the game is its story. I'm twenty-some-odd hours into the game and still don't really feel close to the end. The story is engaging, most of the characters are well thought out, characterized, and written. My only major issues is that... 1.) The combat isn't really my vibe. It's typically RPGMaker stuff with extra steps. It's got depth for sure but it simply isn't fun to me. And that's compounded by... 2.) The encounter rates in areas with random encounters is WAY too high. In most areas with random encounters, I can't walk 3 steps sometimes without encountering enemy after enemy. It's frustrating. To sum up my pros and cons... Pros: - Great Story - Big World with things to discover and reasons to come back to each location. - Well written characters to engage with. Neutral: - Combat isn't my thing though perhaps others may enjoy it - hScenes are more of a happenstance reward for exploration rather than a goal like other hGames - hScenes are mostly just a box that appears to explain the hScene before a single image appears Cons: - Encounter rates are extremely high - Attacks and spells require quick time events (QTE) for max effectiveness - The leveling system and stat allocation system aren't particularly great I think, if you want a game with a good story with the occasional hScene and you're willing to tolerate the combat, this one is a fantastic choice. It has some jank and much like most other games within the RPGMaker genre of hGames, not all the bugs have been ironed out but it does get updates so that's neat. I don't know much about the actual development of the game, I'm not a member of the Patreon if they one. I just think it's a pretty good game.

I recommend this game it seems to me that it's actually got a compelling story that can keep you interested, but for the sake of my review post I'm gonna talk about what I feel like is this games biggest cons. - No text skip feature Some times you just wish/ want to skip the text, some of it seems a little too slow when it slowly types out dialog for the player to read. At the very least they could've added a feature to speed up the auto text other than holding down the action/ "OK" button hoping and praying that you don't accidentally hit a choice option you didn't want during some dialog scenes. - Timed Action button themes. For me, I'm not a real big fan of these "Timed" action sequences. Not only does this just simply annoy me, it's uninteresting. You click to attack, and so you attack, that's what it's meant when you click to attack, not "click to Action Time Battle" just to make a single strike. On top of that as if it wasn't bad enough (to me), is the "Timed Action" fishing mini-game. You have to hit whatever pattern of buttons appear such as Left, Right, Up, Down, OK/ Cancel in order to catch your fish. I appreciate the attempt to try something different in these rpg maker games. But the only thing I can do is say, if you're not bothered by the Action Time mechanics, along with a compelling & interesting story, then this is the game for you. If the Action Time mechicanics bother you as much as they bother me, then you might want to pass on this even if the story is good. However, I would still recommend playing it for the story. I was getting used to the strange way of showing sex scenes, with the text first then CG last. But then I find 20% of the sex scenes don't have CG for some reason, which was very anticlimactic for me and feels very half-baked. The CG looks quite good(some of them) but are very inconsistent in art style. Do not play this if you are looking for visual sexual content because you will not find that much. This is an RPG first, erotic game second.

this game manages to make the explicit content horrible and the actual story fantastic. The soundtrack is something that's stuck with me since playing it and at some point you feel like you got tricked into buying a great game when you expected to get a middle of the road adult game.

A basic base building RPG. Difficulty spike are quite high early on, but nothing near impossible. Battles are fought akin to Legend of Dragoon where you have to get your timing right to maximize the damage dealt to foes. Erotic content wise, it was mostly rich text description rather than visuals since it mostly contains one or two frames to depict sexual acts that you have a choice to submit or resist. Character designs are okay at best, so I'm giving this game a 7 out of 10.
