If you are a gamer, you owe it to yourself to play Dark Souls. It is a classic. It is simultaneously a master piece and a disaster in terms of game design. One of my favorite games of all time. It is the dark souls of Dark souls.

Grime made me fall in love with this genre, then I played Elden Ring and knew I had to play all the FromSoftware games! I have now completed Demon's Souls, Bloodborne, and DS1 Remastered. Coming backward in time initially made DS1 look dated, but within 10 minutes of playing, I forgot all about the newer titles and fell in love with this old gem. This might be my favorite game in the genre! I played this on an iMac Pro on macOS Sequoia (no Boot Camp) using Porting Kit. I had to do some registry edits to get it to work smoothly, but had no major issues during the playthrough—except for some manageable shading glitches in certain parts of the Depths area. Other than that, it worked flawlessly until the end. If you are using Porting Kit, use the Steambuild 32/64-bit DXVK wrapper to install the game, change the two required registry keys, and ensure vSync is turned on.
