D/Generation HD

D/Generation HD is a remake of an old 1991 MS-DOS game called D/Generation. It's an isometric action/puzzle game where you move around various sci-fi office buildings avoiding turrets and things. I have to say this is really bad quality. I laughed a bit when I saw the super janky walking animations. This doesn't really improve on the game in any noticeable manner apart from removing the pixel graphics the developers in the 1990's had no choice but to use with arguably worse ISO graphics. At least it works in 4K? $10 price tag, too. That's not gonna fly with me.

Apparently this game is from 1991. Never played the original before but I was bored so I gave it a shot. It's terrible. The controls are extremely awkward, it feels like everything is ice and I'm slipping around on the surface rather than walking. The gameplay itself is weird AF, there are deathtraps everywhere and you run around pushing buttons to get into the next room. Everything is incredibly low budget and frankly terrible. This just might have been one of the worst games I have ever played. Avoid.

The graphics are not bad for such an old game, the controls are responsive, the music is ok, at leat for the ca. 15 minutes I played. The problem is, this is very old school. Or if you want to, you can use something like "rogue like" or other euphemisms for "unforgiving". Fact is, when you die you have to replay the current room. That would be ok, but you have to do the "dialogs" again. You have some lives, after that you have to replay, don't know... I restarted at the beginning. I think it is per level or map or whatever. There are some small puzzles which are not mini games but part of the world. Switches and the like. It is easy to play and you could put some time into it. Nothing really bad about it. It is not a bad game, there are just so many games, I would feel like wasting my time with this one.

The only reason I bought this is because I speedrun the original, which makes it even funnier that I have yet to get the Speedrun achievement in this. Some versions of the game on some consoles is AFAIK unbeatable. What a absolute mess.

Di solito non scrivo mai male dei vecchi giochi, perchè tengo presente la difficoltà che ci voleva per produrli o svilupparli nel periodo in cui sono usciti. Ma queste è una remastered fatta veramente male. Faccio prima a dire cosa non è buggato, ma sto ancora cercando quella parte non buggata, forse sono gli achivment anche se qualcuno lo ottenuto senza aver capito bene cosa ho fatto. Se ricordate con nostalgia questo gioco state lontani da questa remastered è veramente ingiocabile.

This is honestly the worst port of a beloved classic I've ever played. Just find a copy of the original and play it via Dosbox.

Feels a tad buggy - it wanted to start on the left most monitor (which is portrait) - making it pretty unreadable as the graphics were all chopped off. I managed to press alt+enter which puts it in a portrait window. I had to kinda blindly change the resolution. Once in the game - the animations don't seem all that natural. The eye stalks fire rate is way to fast (in the original I felt you could dodge them somewhat) - that's ok though. What really got me after a while is the stuck dialogue messages - even after saving and going back to the main menu they were still there. For the $4 I paid - probably ok? The original Amiga version was so charming though :(.

Horrible. Controls suck, glitchy as can be. I love the DOS game

I use to play this game about 20 years ago, once I upgrade my computer I could no longer play it, then I found Steam they had a new download version of (D/Generation HD) I love the new design and ease of play and YES I do recommend game.

Should have been left in the past.
