Curse of the Dead Gods

Curse of the Dead Gods is one of the best rogue-likes I've ever played and I *highly* recommend it to everyone. What makes the game stand out is how challenging but rewarding the combat is. The game combines the mechanical depth of a soulslike combat with the addictive nature of a good rogue-like. The core gameplay is so good that I constantly have this urge to do one more run. The enemies and bosses are very well designed, the weapons are meaningfully different in the way they make the player approach combat, the randomised build crafting during a run is cool and satisfying. On top of all other positives the game's graphics and art style looks very nice and hits that sweet spot of being stylised but not overly cartoony. Also extra credit for being a perfect Steam Deck game - runs without issues, controls are very convenient, does not require massive performance so the battery lives much longer that in many other games. If you find the game too difficult you can fine tune the difficulty in settings. I'm personally very happy with the intended experience but the option is there. There are some downsides, like the balance is not always right and some weapons are OP. The game could have had a few more bosses for extra variety. The story is nearly non-existent. But the downsides are very minor and bare noticeable while playing. I got the game for very cheap on sale, but after 30 hours I can definitely recommend it even at full price, it's just great.

Обычный рогалик в стилистике цивилизации майя, ацтеков и т.д. сюжета нет, медленный, по мне не стоит траты времени

Я в Ravenswatch (следующая игра Passtech) 500+ часов наиграл. Решил попробовать предшественника, а тут просто недооцененный шедевр. Боевка на высоте, геймплей затягивает. Если тебе нравятся игры с глубокой боевой системой, игра для тебя. Визуальная составляющая тоже потрясная, несмотря на простоту - французы шарят. Сюжета как такового нет, это не Hades. Ну и важно понимать, что игра в плане контента не то что бы большая. Рогалик = реиграбельность, но рассчитывать на то, что ты в ней сотни часов проведешь, не стоит.

The game seems cool, but I can see that grind wall from a mile away. Not worth it for a combat system that feels mostly like kiting and waiting for stamina to recharge.
