CRYO is a multiplayer co-op survival horror for 1-4 players. You have been deployed by your company to various locations around the Antarctic due to communication issues. What awaits you in these dark, remote regions is far more sinister than a technical fault...

About
CRYO is a 1–4 player cooperative survival horror game set across isolated facilities in the frozen wastes of Antarctica.
You and your team are technicians working on behalf of ANGENEX, a powerful genetics corporation with research sites scattered throughout the Antarctic Circle.
Your assignments sound simple enough.
Restore communications. Repair critical systems. Recover valuable research. Find out why contact was lost.
But when you arrive, the facilities are abandoned, systems are failing, and something has been left behind.
Terrifying mutated creatures stalk the halls, each hunting in its own way. Some will pursue you relentlessly, while others rely on sound, darkness, patience or the environment around them to catch you off guard.
To survive, you'll need to search for supplies, restore vital equipment, solve objectives and learn what is hunting you before it learns how to find you.
And completing the mission is only half the battle.
You'll still need to find a way out.
The escape might not have room for everyone.

The creature isn't the only thing trying to kill you.
Antarctica is hostile, isolated and unforgiving. Freezing temperatures, dangerous environments and failing equipment can turn even a simple objective into a desperate fight for survival.
Plan ahead before leaving safety, keep vital systems operational and make every journey outside count.
Sometimes the safest route isn't the fastest one.
CRYO's creatures are driven by an advanced AI system designed to hunt using the world around them.
Monsters can react to movement, sound and environmental cues, forcing you to think carefully about how you navigate each location.
But not every creature hunts in the same way.
Some rely on brute force and aggression. Others stalk from the shadows, investigate disturbances or exploit the environment to get close without being noticed.
The tactics that saved you last time might get you killed on the next deployment.
Learn what you're dealing with.
Adapt.
Survive.
Every mission introduces uncertainty.
The creature hunting you can change between deployments, objectives are selected and altered each round, equipment appears in different locations and your available escape options may not always be the same.
Items are distributed throughout the environment in logical locations, hidden inside cupboards, drawers, storage areas, offices and locked rooms.
Knowing the map will help.
Knowing exactly what will happen won't.
Every location contains a series of primary objectives that must be completed before your team can escape.
Restore damaged systems, locate missing equipment, repair machinery, solve puzzles and explore dangerous areas in order to bring abandoned ANGENEX facilities back online.
Objectives can change between deployments, forcing your team to explore different areas and approach familiar locations in new ways.
The deeper you venture into the facility, the greater the risk.
Completing your assignment doesn't mean you're safe.
Each map features multiple possible escape routes, but getting them operational may require additional equipment, repairs or exploration.
Some escapes are safer.
Some are faster.
And some have limited capacity.
When four survivors are running towards an escape built for two, teamwork can suddenly become a lot more complicated.
CRYO is designed around 1–4 player cooperative play, while remaining fully playable solo.
Work together to search larger areas, coordinate repairs, watch cameras, share equipment and warn each other when something is coming.
Splitting up may help you complete objectives faster.
It also means nobody will be there when you scream.
Communication, teamwork and quick thinking can make the difference between a clean extraction and a complete disaster.
You won't always be able to fight what is hunting you.
Instead, CRYO gives you a variety of tools that can help you understand, avoid and manipulate the threats around you.
Use cameras to monitor dangerous areas, motion detectors to track movement, music players to create distractions and other specialist equipment to give your team an advantage.
Some tools can save your life.
Others are only as useful as the person holding them.
How you use them is up to you.
Sometimes survival means staying out of sight.
Crouch to move quietly, hide inside lockers and use the environment to break line of sight when a creature gets too close.
But hiding isn't always enough.
Different monsters perceive the world differently, meaning a strategy that works against one creature may be completely useless against another.
Understanding your enemy is just as important as avoiding it.
ANGENEX operates across some of the most remote environments on Earth.
Your assignments will take you through isolated research facilities, underground installations, industrial environments and vessels stranded in Antarctic waters.
Each location introduces its own layout, objectives, hazards, systems and methods of escape.
And every site has its own story about what happened before you arrived.
The world around you can be just as dangerous as the creatures inside it.
Extreme cold, hazardous areas, damaged machinery and failing systems can force your team to change plans on the fly.
Preparation matters.
The equipment you bring, the route you take and the risks you're willing to accept can determine whether you complete the mission or become another frozen casualty.
CRYO features multiple difficulty options designed for both casual groups and players looking for a much harsher experience.
Higher difficulties reduce the availability of useful items while making the creatures hunting you more dangerous and intelligent.
Resources become scarce.
Mistakes become costly.
And teamwork becomes essential.
ANGENEX calls them routine recovery operations.
Restore communications.
Recover the research.
Repair the facility.
Locate the missing personnel.
They rarely tell you why the last team stopped responding.
Enter the facility.
Complete the mission.
Find a way out.
And don't assume everyone is coming home.

the dog mimicked my friend singing we are charlie kirk and genuinely tricked me into thinking it was my friend, then when i realised it was the dog it became the single scariest thing ive ever witnessed
The game has potential. The maps are well-designed, but the AI is too basic. The monster spawn system makes the game artificially difficult and highly frustrating. When playing in co-op, there aren't enough hiding spots, leaving you with zero counterplay and no way to survive. The creatures are difficult to track by sound or sight, especially outside in the rain or snow. The developers should let the monsters roam freely through the map instead of spawning them right next to the players. Let them interact with their surroundings. Right now, the game is too difficult due to these mechanical shortcomings.

The few reviews that say the game is too hard or you spend too much time hiding are probably playing this game entirely wrong. Most of the time just sprinting around the map does not work like in most other horror games. In Cryo, stealth is your friend, sticking together is usually a bad idea, and if you're alone, you have to make use of the distraction techniques like the MP3 player and timers to safely avoid the monster. Every monster reacts differently to players as well, where the Feral will just chase the nearest sight/sound until line of sight is lost, the Stalker and Feral will always move to where they heard you last and then patrol that area for a minute or so until they move on. If you immediately start running around, yelling, and slamming doors, of course the monster is going to camp you. This isn't a normal brain-dead horror game where you just run away from threats and eventually you lose them. You have to use the environment to your advantage and learn the patterns and strengths/weaknesses of each different monster. The devs are very active and you can tell they care about this game and their other game (Labyrinthine) a lot. Their games are truly gems in a sea of rough DBD and Monstrum knockoffs. Also, give it a shot with at least one or two friends and you will have a good time once you figure out the map(s) and monsters. Side Note: You can play with more than four players if change the Launch options under the game properties in Steam. Right click on Cryo in your Library, select options, and in the Launch Options blank on the general tab put the following: -set_player_limit 8
No max framerate option & game stutters quite a bit and will even sometimes crash. ALSO Dropping important items needed to beat the game will make it go through the ground sometimes. Audio design is very lacking...hardly any build up, no ambiance, and most definitely no tension. This should've been a page taken from Labyrinthine's early chapter audio design that instilled dread...but it flopped harder than a fish landing on pavement: https://youtu.be/gkAXbFj-r0Q?si=Ve3xZAbkSLD4p2h4&t=89 Laughably weak monster design...typical dog monster...another slender humanoid monster...big muscle man with club...cmon really? things that have been done a million times already. We've really regressed from the monster design of the Amnesia, Monstrum, Aliens Isolation, ect games to this....smh Enemy logic is boring and monotonous. Camp within a set location or set radius of where players are located. Would be great if the monsters were smarter. All monsters just seem to be chasers and aren't really unique in their interactions. Why can't it be like the Brecken from Lethal Company or the Walrider from Outlast - each having their own unique & immersive interactions. Premise of the game makes no sense... we're sent in as some sort of Emergency response team but have no access to a company( that you work for ) facility. Inventory management is sloppy and unimpressive. You'd think you would go in with a backpack given the situation. There also should be more objectives to "investigate" what happened inside these facilities...like take a picture of the monster or corpses. Friends made complaints about the Monsters one shotting you so that's also pretty uninspiring.
optimize your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game already
Fantastic game, we've been fans since Labirithyn, but of course, this is a type of game most enjoyed with friends. So far we finished both maps on hell, really looking forward for new maps/mechanics/monsters. Please keep up the good work and congrats for such a great game!
Learning that this game came from the same team that had developed Labyrinthine was a surprise. I had no idea they made another game until I had seen the not so subtle references to it in game. Despite that, this new IP they put out fits the bill for a good online co-op horror game. This game is both fun and difficult (especially your first couple times). The horror aspect pulls through really well, to the point that I find my hairs standing on edge. Audible character breathing and heartbeat sound effects whenever your in imminent danger lend more to the feel of actually being trapped in an isolated facility trying to avoid a looming threat. While I do recommend playing this game, I do not recommend it as it is now. There currently is only one level available with the main difference being that one of three monsters has a chance to show up. Granted, it is in early access, and the developers do have a Trello board highlighting what's to come and what is currently being worked on. If you do intend on buying it, then do so at a discounted price. There just is not enough content to justify the current $15 price tag in my current opinion.
The game has the potential to be good but I feel like your hiding more then doing what your supposed to. Definitely needs improvement
AMAZING GAME... WARNING ( THIS GAME IS NOT NEW FRIENDLY TO HORROR GAMES ), The game immediately jumps you in, if you played Alien Isolation, you will 100% love this GAME. If you are new to horror games or these types of games, it can be a HUGE struggle, watch GUIDES and YT vidoes also look at the steam community GUIDE. The game becomes really good and addicting, when you learn how it all works.
As of right now i cannot recomend this game. it needs a LOT of work. If i had to use one word to describe the game in its current state id call it clunky. i look foward to this games future and its alright for a few hours of fun.
