About
Cronos: The New Dawn is a brutal third-person survival horror where you fight for the future by salvaging the past. Burn monsters before they merge. Extract souls from the living. Adapt or die.

Set in a grim world where Eastern European brutalism meets retro-futurist technology, Cronos: The New Dawn lets you experience a gripping story that straddles the line between past and future.
In the past, you will witness a world in the throes of The Change, a cataclysmic event that forever altered humanity. Meanwhile, in the ravaged wastelands of the future, every moment is a fight for survival against dangerous abominations that will test both your reflexes and your tactical thinking.
You are a Traveler working for the enigmatic Collective, tasked with scouring the wastelands of the future in search of time rifts that will transport you to 1980s-era Poland.

In a desolate world filled with ever-present danger, your survival hinges on your ability to strategize and plan ahead. The enemies you’ll encounter are nightmarish creatures, born from the remnants of humanity – defeating them will require you to make full use of your arsenal.
You can manipulate temporal Anomalies to clear a path through the desolate environment, and will have to scavenge for resources to replenish your limited ammo and supplies. Good preparation is key. Once in battle, split-second decisions can mean the difference between life
and death.
The creatures you kill won’t stay dead for long. Fallen enemies can be absorbed by others — through a grotesque process called Merging — to become faster, tougher, and far deadlier.
The only way to stop them? Burn their bodies. And do it fast.
If you don’t, you’ll face ever-evolving abominations that will push your combat skills to their limits.

Your mission is to locate key people from the past who perished in the ensuing apocalypse. Using your all-powerful Harvester, you can extract their Essences and have them accompany you into the future.
But be wary: these essences have a profound impact on your journey.
The more you carry, the more haunted your suit becomes — increasing your prowess on the battlefield but also bringing with them whispers in your ear and flickers into your vision, edging you ever closer to madness.

Nice game
I jumped into this knowing almost nothing except that it was developed by Bloober Team, which gave me some confidence as I absolutely loved their remake of Silent Hill 2, and also mostly enjoyed The Medium. Well, I can say they've delivered above all my expectations, as I loved Cronos : The New Dawn even more than I did SH2, and also more than RE:Requiem. My biggest fear going in was that outside SH2, Bloober's gameplay had always been quite bare. A fear immediately gone after the first shot with the game's first gun. Charging shots to shoot through multiple enemies feels very satisfying, and even more after upgrades. Add a pretty decent enemy variety with a big dose of body horror and an original "merging" mechanic, a well adjusted challenge level and an old school approach to inventory management and resource scarcity, and you get a survival horror that kept me on the edge of my seat through the 20 hours that my first run took me. The two other huge highlights for me were the sound design and soundtrack, and the art direction. Bloober clearly took notes while working on the otherworld of SH2, digested the influences, mixed it with eastern europe architecture and turned every dial to 11. After fighting through panelkas infested with biomass that would feel at home on the USG Ishimura or in Zdzisław Beksiński's paintings, and torn by anomalies straight from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S. 2's most dangerous areas, I have to say Cronos hits different. The few complaints I would have are the following : - performance on PC is rough — although I only suffered a few lags and microfreezes in 1440p, thanks to DLSS's upscaling and frame gen, with ray tracing disabled — and the game is probably best played on consoles if your rig is getting a bit old. - it feels too bad that the original voice acting was recorded in English instead of Polish, as this would have brought a higher level of authenticity. This is even a bit surprising considering that all visible texts/signs are written in Polish, but the only other VA option is... Chinese. Go figure. Oh, and before I forget : YOU CAN PET THE CATS. PLURAL ! 10/10, SUCH IS OUR CALLING !
If you enjoy Dead Space and you enjoy Resident Evil, you'll enjoy this game. I am a huge Dead Space fan and this scratches that itch and the mystery and twist this game has is awesome. I hope if they continue on and create something similar or a sequel I hope they add some kind of dismemberment system, just me wishing. Beautiful game graphically as well.
