About
Cronos: The New Dawn is a brutal third-person survival horror where you fight for the future by salvaging the past. Burn monsters before they merge. Extract souls from the living. Adapt or die.

Set in a grim world where Eastern European brutalism meets retro-futurist technology, Cronos: The New Dawn lets you experience a gripping story that straddles the line between past and future.
In the past, you will witness a world in the throes of The Change, a cataclysmic event that forever altered humanity. Meanwhile, in the ravaged wastelands of the future, every moment is a fight for survival against dangerous abominations that will test both your reflexes and your tactical thinking.
You are a Traveler working for the enigmatic Collective, tasked with scouring the wastelands of the future in search of time rifts that will transport you to 1980s-era Poland.

In a desolate world filled with ever-present danger, your survival hinges on your ability to strategize and plan ahead. The enemies you’ll encounter are nightmarish creatures, born from the remnants of humanity – defeating them will require you to make full use of your arsenal.
You can manipulate temporal Anomalies to clear a path through the desolate environment, and will have to scavenge for resources to replenish your limited ammo and supplies. Good preparation is key. Once in battle, split-second decisions can mean the difference between life
and death.
The creatures you kill won’t stay dead for long. Fallen enemies can be absorbed by others — through a grotesque process called Merging — to become faster, tougher, and far deadlier.
The only way to stop them? Burn their bodies. And do it fast.
If you don’t, you’ll face ever-evolving abominations that will push your combat skills to their limits.

Your mission is to locate key people from the past who perished in the ensuing apocalypse. Using your all-powerful Harvester, you can extract their Essences and have them accompany you into the future.
But be wary: these essences have a profound impact on your journey.
The more you carry, the more haunted your suit becomes — increasing your prowess on the battlefield but also bringing with them whispers in your ear and flickers into your vision, edging you ever closer to madness.

Great game. Reminds me off playing the first dead space when it first came out. Could be better optimized for Linux gaming.
Cronos: The New Dawn is a brief but memorable entry in to the Horror Survival Shooter genre that is just overflowing with atmosphere. If you were longing for another entry into the Dead Space Series, Cronos will scratch that itch. But even fans of other Survival Horror series like Resident Evil and Silent Hill may find a fondness for Cronos: The New Dawn. Having explored everything in this game, beating it, beating it on New Game Plus, Hard Mode and unlocking nearly every Achievement: I feel I have a strong grasp on what I did and really didn't like about the game. The World of Cronos: Story, Lore and Atmosphere: Say what you will about Cronos, the game oozes atmosphere at every turn. They really captured the essence of 1980's Poland amidst a mysterious pandemic, contrasted with the bizarre Sci-fi premise of the Travelers and the Collective going backwards in time to try and save humans from a post-apocalyptic future. The characters are charming and while the story is told directly in cutscenes, additional context and side stories are given via indirect storytelling through journals and item descriptions. I don't want to discuss the story too much because it's impossible to point out cool things without spoiling it, but believe me when I say this is the game's strong point, undoubtedly. I could go on for ages about the worldbuilding alone, but it's better experienced by learning it through the game. My only complaint is that I wish dialogue options had more of an impact, as only the final choice (which determines the game's ending) holds any serious consequence. All other dialogue trees are for flavor only, for the most part. Playing Cronos: Combat, Exploration, Equipment: While I can appreciate that limited inventory is a staple of the Survival Horror Genre, I feel Cronos takes it to an absurd extent, with only 6 slots by default and a maximum of 12 by the end of the game. Upgrading your Equipment Slots above all else essentially becomes Mandatory. Playing on NG+ with maxed storage honestly felt way more natural. While Combat feels good for the most part, there are some glaring issues. Weapon Balance is really questionable. There are 3 types of guns: Pistols, Carbines and Shotguns. Each has a variant that can charge it's attacks, and a full auto variant. Weapons that charge are just objectively better in every circumstance. It's sadly not even an opinion, Charged weapons are just do significantly more damage for significantly less ammunition. Charging attacks does double damage with greater pierce and spread, allowing you to hit multiple enemies at once. The "dismemberment" system they mention in the trailers also doesn't exist. You cannot dismember enemies until after they are dead, it serves no purpose. Enemy Variety is also really low. There are 4 enemy types. Regular Orphans that don't do much except walk towards you, Wall Crawling Orphans, Wall Hanging Orphans that grab you around corners and Tankier "brute" orphans. There are also two boss enemies, which get repeated a few times throughout the game. I get that the idea is that orphans merge and create stronger variants, but the truth is, they are not merging. "Merging" just gives an Orphan more HP and armor (and at the highest level, one additional attack) at the expense of a corpse on the ground. All Orphans gain a vomit projectile when they reach a tier 3 merge and some armor to make certain body parts resilient to damage. The Elephant in the Room: Comparisons to Dead Space. Even giving Cronos the benefit of the doubt, it is basically impossible not to compare it to Dead Space because of how similar the two games are. The developers themselves have openly stated multiple times that Dead Space was the primary inspiration for the game. I had almost thought it was made by the same developers, because the game uses some of the exact same sounds and animations. The gameplay overall is extremely derivative of Dead Space and there's just no way around that. While the Lore goes in a completely different direction and theme (time travel through 1980's Poland vs Space Alien Zombie Outbreak), even the story feels a bit lifted from Dead Space. The fact that both games feature two train station repair arcs at roughly the same positions in their respective stories is a little too coincidental for me. It's one thing for a game to be inspired, but I feel like Cronos at times feels like it just copied ideas. If the writing, world lore and story was not so bizarre and creative, I would have probably felt this was a lesser imitation. Does imitating another great game make it a bad game? No, but it does somewhat lessen my ability to praise the design of the game, as so much of it is borrowed from another game.
Survival de horror fantástico. Ambientação tensa e recursos limitados com uma ótima narrativa. Surpreendeu positivamente.
This is good game, if you liked Dead Space (OGs or remake) you will likelly like this one too. The only thing i don't like about this game is "chain cutter mechanic" that forces you to either always carry chain cutter and being handicapped by having less pace for resources or forcing you to run to the locker for a cain cutter and back to the loced door.
3/5 - Average The game has good atmosphere and an interesting story, but too many small irritants that kill the fun. Combat is difficult mostly because you move and shoot slowly, while enemies are pretty fast and hit you hard. Most weapons have a charge up mechanic to boost the damage, and if you don't use it you will run out of ammo. Boss fights are brutal, but they are rewarding when you figure out how to get through them. Your inventory size is limited so you're always out of space and making trips to the chest to offload. This is just bad game design imho, it adds nothing but friction to gameplay. Conversations drag on because characters talk very slowly (as part of the story) and you can't skip lines, that's so annoying. Some people complain about graphic performance, but I had no issue with my rig, I played at 1080p on High with FSR quality and maintained ~100 FPS. While the game is lengthy and has good moments, it felt padded in the end and outlasted its welcome. I would wait for 70% discount.
Interesting world with an interesting story. Sense of tension is amazing throughout the whole game. Hard at the very beggining but gets easier as you get used to it. The only thing I really didn't like is the (in my opinion) excesive gun sway of unupgraded weapons. Others have already compaired it to various games, so I'll pull a movies reference: It's
"12 Monkeys" meets "The Thing"
.
*Cronos: The New Dawn* completely took me by surprise. I expected a solid sci-fi horror game, but what I got was one of the most atmospheric and memorable horror experiences I’ve played recently. It has that rare quality where the world does not feel like a level built for you to move through, but like a hostile wound you are trespassing inside. Buildings, bodies, time, memory, and guilt all feel infected by the same disease. The strongest part of the game is its atmosphere. The sound design is incredible, the weapons have real weight, movement feels slow and deliberate in a way that supports the dread, and the environments are dense with unease. This is not horror that only cares about jump scares. It is horror built from pressure, decay, architecture, and moral discomfort. The combat is also much better than I expected. It is heavy, tactile, and tense. Every shot matters, every enemy encounter has weight, and the game constantly makes you feel physically vulnerable without becoming clumsy. The weapon feedback especially deserves praise — there is real oomph here. What stayed with me most, though, is the story’s emotional and moral unease. Without getting into spoilers, the game slowly turns its sci-fi premise into something more personal, uncomfortable, and haunting than I expected. It is not just interested in what happened to the world, but in what people are willing to justify when they are afraid of losing what matters to them. It reminded me emotionally of games like *Alan Wake 2* and *Silent Hill 2 Remake*, not because it copies them, but because it has that same authored nightmare quality — a game shaped by its own internal logic. It is not perfect. Some parts can be blurry or overwhelming, and I actually started NG+ partly because the Abbey/endgame sequence left me wanting to sit with it again. But that is also a compliment: the game stayed with me. I wanted to return not because I missed collectibles, but because the place still had a pull. If you want horror that is atmospheric, tactile, strange, morally uneasy, and visually/sonically oppressive, *Cronos: The New Dawn* is absolutely worth entering. One of the strongest horror games I’ve played in years.
