It's fun but you need to be able to move 360 degree with a wireless headset which I don't have, you need to spin on yourself because there's no turn function assigned on the controller, there's no movement function on the joystick either, you have to move for real, and being wired and all I'm not doing that.
Wonderful game ! You'll really learn something useful in close combat and train for good reflexes to defend yourself (if needed)... We need more healthy, useful & fun learning games like this one ! It is also a great workout if you love "VR fitness" and combat apps/games, you'll sweat a lot and make your heart work for the good (cardio training). The new version (exiting from early access) is full of new functions : *sports* with a more specific training and two dummies to manage, and *events*, like a "personal coach" suggesting to you a training based on what you've already played on. You can check in my profile, I've made some fun MVR (mixed reality) videos showing the gameplay, like this one: https://youtube.com/shorts/4u7giGShmHE
Honestly, I really enjoy the concept, but there's something about this game that doesn't really seem to enjoy me playing it either, so this sits at a solid 4/10 for me. It's great exercise (if you have some method of counting calories burnt besides the arbitrary in-game numbers they throw at you), but this isn't like Creed or Thrill of the Fight where the effort you put in directly impacts your ability to succeed. Sometimes things just refuse to work as intended, and in others, RNG holds an attempt hostage by throwing obstacles in your way at the worst possible times. I can put my all into this game and it just doesn't seem to reward it with how finnicky the tracking can be, or how unforgiving the game's requirements for each target can be. I block and it doesn't count. I punch and it doesn't count. With no regard for how scrunched up and bent I might be from avoiding the sheer number of blades each level sends my way, it can be like none of the moves count if you aren't standing up perfectly straight and doing each of them incredibly slowly. Sometimes one movement will work for something, and the next it won't. I could punch directly on the center at the exact right moment, and it would deduct a heart. Maybe this game isn't meant to be Airlinked with a Quest 2, but it genuinely feels like my success relies more on getting good blade RNG to not screw over my positioning than any actual input on my end.
Hier trainiert man anhand seiner Leistung zusammengestellte Einheiten.
Probably the most physically engaging VR game I've played since Beat Saber. I've been looking for a game that just honest to god involves me punching something, and this game scratches that itch really well. Stuff like Blade & Sorcery doesn't cut it for me, I wanna swing these meat hands and feel the impact. I enjoy punching in this more than in Thrill of the Fight, it just feels snappier to punch, duck, step back, block, all within seconds of each other; it's engaging and challenging. I've had more fun with this sparring dummy than mindlessly punching unity store assets until they ragdoll.
No Sorry.. as much as I love the idea, the game needs some serious tweaking as its not making any sense at all, especially not from a Martial Arts POV. For Example: The game throws three things at you, at the same time, from the same side: one you are meant to dodge, two others meant to block. That.. makes no sense. Why would I block Punches that I already dodged? And what kind of movement is that suppose to be? Or striking in different directions at the same time... And why would a game like this not support Full body so you can kick? Why are there punches art KNEE HEIGHT? Or the fact that the blades dont even reach you if you jsut stand there (with the circle white, so correct distance). Sorry but no.. its fun for a little while, frustrating and plain stupid for most of the time. Not to mention it teaches you very wrong and bad ways of moving.
With this I'll be ready for the next Chunin Exams XD 10/10
