A Chipped Gem
*Note, I have played Trials in Tainted Space to its latest version and also played this game on the website to the latest version before (so two full playthroughs). Trials will be mentioned numerous times as a comparison, as both that and this are available for free at Fenoxo* CoC2 is an erotic choose-your-own adventure game set in a fantasy setting, where you play as some adventurer with the goal to stop some bald guy from corrupting the world or something. This game is different at a fundamental level than Trials in that it functions much more as an RPG, meaning more focus on quests, exploration, attributes, and, to an extent, even characters. I'm not sure if that's because there's more more *effort* put into this game than Trials (I mean, they did showcase this one on Steam instead of the other one, which is closer to completion), but this game has an actual companion system, you can marry multiple NPCs, and you can have "romances" instead of just intimate encounters with a lot of NPCs. I think that's a nice touch, and it was something I found was missing in Trials where all the NPCs were pretty much just shop owners. Let's start with the good about the game, though. I liked the customizability of it. You rarely feel like you're being held back on the RPG side. You can change "powers" on the fly (essentially your abilities that you use in combat), and learn new ones from other classes. So what you pick in the beginning of the game isn't set in stone. The narrative and relationships between characters I think is a highlight of the game, and superior to Trials in numerous ways. In Trials, it felt like you were just "going with the flow" to get to the next location, but here there's often things to be invested in if you're not already invested in the overarching story of stopping the "big bad". There's a TON of side quests, although a lot of them are usually just "go kill this guy" or "get me this thing". Certain choices, for once, meaningfully matter as well. Which I also tested (since I did two playthroughs), and that is appreciated for such a narrative-driven game. If you want to be "corrupt" you can, and if you want to be "pure", you can. This corruption mechanic affects dialogue, which is a nice touch, but so does so many other things, which is again why I praise the "character" of this game. The game also puts "notices" letting you know if an option does something you might want to reconsider, which is appreciated. You may be wondering why I haven't talked about the core of the game: the combat. It's because it is objectively the weakest portion and hurts this game immensely. Basically, environments in the game are in a grid. You can move in cardinal directions. However, in order to move initially in an "unexplored" environment, you have to "explore" it. This leads to a repetitive, annoying process where "randomly" the game will decide if you explore a new space and can move on, combat occurs, or if some other stupid event happens like picking up a berry for the 100th time. This wasn't a problem in Trials, because all that had was a Fog of War essentially. I also find this mechanic baffling because the game has the option to "pick a fight", but you will NEVER NEED TO DO THAT because just moving one space will result in a new fight. The amount of hours I could have saved and honestly annoyance if there was like an "avoid combat encounters" would be monumental, and improve my enjoyment of the game so much. I do not want to fight the same monsters over, and over, and over again just to get from point A to point B. It wasn't NEARLY this bad in Trials, and I know that because I put equal if not more time in that game. Oh, the erotic scenes are good too I guess.
Pros:

Well-written characters and narrative that keeps the audience engaged, plus a ton of side quests to go along with it.
I enjoy how much more of an "impact" your character can make on things in this game, compared to Trials, which makes sense considering this is a "fantasy RPG".
A lot of the relationships with characters feel, and can be, more personal, which is a great touch and shows more effort (even though some of them are a bit silly like: hey, I just saved you, want to get married?)
There are few restrictions to a single playthrough besides story decisions, meaning you can change/edit your character however you want. Even corruption is reversable. And there's no time limit as far as I'm aware.
There's plenty of stuff for all sorts of folks *cough*
Compared to Trials, this is a bit more limited in character transformations and races, BUT I do like the new approach of committing yourself to gods. I thought it was neat feature and I'd like to see more options in the future.
I like the art direction of the game.
You can go underwater (to an extent, it's a WIP right now).

"Suggestions for Improvement":

Combat becomes annoying, frustrating, and repetitive very, very quickly. The "fix" for it is already in the game, which is the "look for a fight" button. The explore button, instead, should be for the "events" in that level, like finding berries, NPCs, and the like. But having to fight the same enemies 100 times to get from Point A to Point B needs to be adjusted, because it's not the "purpose" of the game, and it's not fun. The "reason" for them is to get to the "special scenes" (either through victory or defeat), which again can be accessed through the "pick a fight button", but again I don't want to see that when I want to go somewhere.
The exploration mechanic may need to be adjusted as well UNLESS they make it so combat with generic enemies doesn't occur from exploration. If you play through the game once, it's a SLOG to fully explore a map a second time. My suggestion is to keep unique and non-combat encounters to explore and walking around, while keeping combat with generics to the "pick a fight".
I'm not a fan of the puzzles. I thought the gem puzzles were annoying and the lock box puzzles needed more variety. They should definitely have a bypass option (not a skip, but a way to get around them like for certain side quests).
The inventory system needs a rework. Both times now I end up with so much gold I don't know what to do with, and unique items filling up my storage. I struggled more with credits and constantly equipped new items in Trials, while here I kind of stuck to the same stuff for most of the game.
It doesn't make sense to me why only certain companions can sleep in your bed at night, especially when you can do the "other kind of sleep" with all of them.
This is more of an "aside" criticism that I noticed after two playthroughs, but it kind of feels like this game is heavily geared more towards heterosexual/bisexual men than women compared to how Trials was geared more to just bisexuals in general. I'm saying this based on how most NPCs seem to be female, and almost all of your companions are female (you can even turn one female). A good test for this is usually comparing "how many normal human men/women can I romance", and to me it felt like it overwhelmingly leaned towards women. The only normal human men in the game I remember are a priest (who you can't romance) and the main antagonist (who you can't romance (yet)). Idk, it just seemed like in Trials there was something for everyone, but here it seems a bit more diluted.
I find it weird that the Patreon members get early access to content and not Steam purchasers. There is technically 0 benefit beyond trading cards, achievements, and supporting the devs further by buying this on Steam. Honestly, you're better off just being a Patron if you really like the game. The devs are welcome to up the price to consolidate this issue. There's enough content.
Savinmander, please make a redemption arc for Kasyrra and I will raise my score by .5 points.
Verdict: 7/10
keep in mind i only played 8 hours some of that replaying stuff i already did weeks later so some of the things good and bad may fix or become worse as the game progresses / updates THE SCENES: So here is the big one that makes me put my foot down and is making me never pick her up again. So the quality of the scenes were good from my point of view at least, BUT the issue was I never knew what kind of scenes I was getting (Im a hardcore strait male who MUCH prefers a dominant position) For example Im ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ a crazy demon futa fine but then I have to choose to roll over or go for her ♥♥♥♥ witch Im thinking (I suck ♥♥♥♥ or it goes in my ass... THIS SUCKS) I only later found out that roll over means I roll HER over and ♥♥♥♥ her more... see the issue it wasent clear and this is common and occurs later in other stuff to. Here is another example I beat up some kobolds and i choose to (become their king or leave) so i choose to become their king maybe have myself a female kobold but not really im then FORCED to have a orgy thing with 3 male and a female NOT WHAT I SIGN UP FOR. Those were not the only occurances I was also forced to suck ♥♥♥♥ or to have ♥♥♥♥ up my ass because i walked in a room (hopeing to ♥♥♥♥ the futa). So my overall issue was that choices i made did not make things clear what their outcome would be. This would also be a non issue if i was bi and a swap but im not. STORY: seemed good but kinda ehh. hard to rate when i played so little. One issue I have with the story and overall story is that it seems pretty disjointed depending on who you talk to. Almost as if its later in the game when I meet them. combat / items: cool and nice. not much to say besides a thumbs up for its not amazing or bad just good.
who sprayed yaoi-repellent all over my game?
i be strokin my ♥♥♥♥
I played it for a bit - and was a big fan of Corruption of CHampions, the original; I got this generally thinking that CoC'd basically just get a glowshine and a ton of content/new story, but something about the aesthetic changed. Less anthro, less furry, more anime, more kemono, more anime-style monstergirls; and it just lost the hook for me. Not saying it's bad in any way, it runs well, is a good read, and is fun and engaging, but; if I don't like the characters I'm with, and don't even like the descriptors/stuff used to describe my own character, I'm very unlikely to enjoy or play. Long story short: If you like Text Based RPG's, Anime girls, and Kemonomimi/Monster girl "waifu" style characters and designs, you'll enjoy this sure enough. If you're looking for anthro/furry content style stuff, You're going to get the tiniest nibble, and then run out very quickly of that particular style of character. Not for me in the end.
So, I dont normally make reviews for games, Let alone hentai games... However COC2 is an exception. COC2 was a game I originally found on a game sharing website about 4-5 years ago... I went into it expecting a simple, 15 minute game that I'd end up forgetting by the next week... However, by the time that week passed, I had a save file of roughly 60 hours and zero regrets... Since then, I've been backing their Patreon/Subsribestar and have probably racked up a few hundred hours off steam. Unfortunately when I transferred to steam, all my save files were lost and I'll have to start again, but I dont mind. I love the world of Savarra and all the misfits within. So many talented artists have put work towards the game, the writers are great, and despite being a text-based game where everything is portrayed through text with very little visuals, its a Phenominal game and I'm looking forward to getting lost in it once again. On, and if you like it. Try out its Sci-fi sibling, Trials in Tainted Space (TiTS)

It's screen-reader friendly, has FAT BOY fonts and dark mode. My eye is happy. Also has controller support.
Text Based RPG with detailed descriptions for both the setting as a whole, AND the more passionate scene is a nice departure from Visual Novels and RPG Maker games. It helps that while each Class has it's own identity, with it doesn't hard lock you into playing a specific role, letting you distribute your skill points into any stat you'd like. The only caveat is that stats that aren't your main ones (The stats that start higher than the other ones, a good idea to pay attention to the race, backstory and class of your character.) will get less gains than your Main Stats. The only gripe I have so far is the actual lack of "Corruption" content, but I understand that it's not everyones cup of tea. Especially since the creator has clarified that not many of the writers like that type of writing. The companions are all intriguing in their own ways, ranging from A Cat Girl that enjoys life to the fullest, to a Fox Lady who's incredibly clingy and enigmatic. All in all, a fun game that takes a different mindset to play.
Great game! Been following since the very start. Played TiTS and CoC, loved them both, and this sequel definitely hasn't disappointed. The story is interesting without taking itself serious and the characters are fun. Perfect picture of what an H game should be. Only complaint I got is it's hard to make progress without crankin it and falling asleep :')
