i like this game, i like the pacing, i like the visuals, i like the style of it however i cant honestly recommend that you buy it solely because the game never reached its full potential and very likely never will the game is considered "finished" by the developer (solo) but this is nowhere indicated on the steam posts, only after asking directly did i get an answer. my other primary complaint is the lack of equipment progression; there are 6 pieces of equipment, excluding release/exorcism items, and only 3 of them feel like something worth buying while the rest are pretty worthless or only add flavor the game gave me a constant feeling like there was supposed to be more progression to follow, more upgrades to get in order to make investigations a little easier, but you never get any outside of a few items that are sidegrades instead of actual upgrades and im not asking for phasmophobia levels of equipment progression, but i definitely expected something more than whats there right now i really wanted to recommend the game, its a great niche ghost hunting game if you are a fan of phasmophobia and wanted something slower paced, but i wholeheartedly could not recommend this game just because i always felt like there was supposed to be more and that the game was prematurely declared finished when it really wasnt
Every location in this game instills a sense of loneliness. That it's just you and the ghosts. Houses will randomly creak, furnaces and AC units will turn on and off regularly, and while you're distracted by whatever that noise may be you become aware that there is a shadow person walking down the hall in your direction, only for it to reach out and scream "HELP ME" the moment it gets close. That was basically what my first experience in the game was, but there's WAY more depth. This isn't like similar ghost hunting games (you know THE ONE) where you're hunting and being hunted (mostly). You are exclusively an investigator basically looking through an area for evidence of ghosts. Each ghost is unique as well from what type they are down to individual details. In one map you will encounter a residual ghost of a landmark's caretaker patrolling the halls, and in the same location the intelligent spirit of a woman that died horribly there will peek her head around the corner to look at you (or suddenly be in the room around the corner when you least expect). There's history and background that not only give life to the dead you keep investigating (and releasing) but the very setting of New Eidolon itself. It feels like a REAL east coast port town with local legends and lost stories of tragedy. There are many locations and many tools you acquire to make your ghost hunting easier (with admittedly some cheesy tricks to gain enough points to get the best tools in the game early on), and each piece of evidence gathered raises activity across the entire map. You also have an interesting "note" system where you can take or omit details of the haunts through the emails, archive, and wiki data in-universe which in turn make a ghost either more active or entirely inactive depending on your preference. Nothing is going to give you a game over. Scripted jumpscares are turned off by default in the options and personally I suggest you keep it that way for a more immersive spooky experience. Eventually when it comes to releasing ghosts you will ALSO have to tango with DEMONS which WILL chase you and shove Conrad's stoic ass over and drain all the batteries in your equipment, forcing you to go back to the van out of shame (and for batteries, the worst these guys do is drain all your battery power). Dealing with those things is like playing with fire I swear. Downsides I feel is that it can often feel like you are stuck waiting for the activity of a specific ghost for way too long, and some of the maps are a bit of a walk to get through (but the walk is alright in my opinion, it lets you soak in the atmosphere: crickets chirping, owls in the distance, the nighttime breeze). Also if you look at the trailers you may notice the map is a little different in-game. There are five maps: three houses and two historical sites (one church with cemetery and creepy woods, and one lighthouse with caretaker huts, military office, hidden cave, slave houses...), while the trailer hints at places like a cathedral as well but these were never implemented for one reason or another, which is a shame but the dev is working on other games and honing their craft a LOT. Overall, I really recommend this for the setting and feeling of being a ghost hunter like on TV.
If you've never have been part of a paranormal investigation team or even on an investigation, this would be a good start. I'm playing this with my wife just for fun and may be hone our skills.
I liked it at first...until I just wasted so much time trying to see something happen and not being able to get any evidence that it is just not worth the 8 dollars I paid for it. I thought it was cool until I realized how hard it is to finish even one job. At this point, I probably wouldn't play it for free because it just feels like a waste of time. If things happened more frequently, it would be better.
Softlock Found: I managed to soft-lock myself in Evergreen-Lane. Upstairs master bedroom, I moved behind the closet door, opened it, & got stuck because the character can't jump onto the bed or jump in general. Please fix this. Thanks.
Gra bardzo wciągająca. Rozegrałem 15 godzin, a oczyściłem z duchów dopiero 2 domy. Jeszcze wiele przede mną co bardzo cieszy. Fajny klimat. Ciekawe historie. Nie dla tych co by chcieli od razu latające krzesła, obrazy, talerze itd. To gra dla cierpliwych, a nie symulator rozpierduchy w stylu filmu Obecność
this ones good but its sometimes difficult to get right evidence, youll need multible trips to the location to complete everything and i like it a lot. Dislike the voicerecorder when asking questions due to low chance result and the repeating questions in the voice recorder when it replays it. so i tend not to do those to much. It has a learning curve and takes a lot of time to figure out, when you do it will be a lot easier and quicker. the backstories are awsome, the collectable infomations are good and the maps are really cool too. more a ghost investigation, Semi sim game thats a lot of fun
There are many ghost-hunting games out there, but Conrad Stevenson's Paranormal PI is the only game that makes you feel like you're truly hunting the ghosts instead of just stumbling upon them or getting your ass handed to you by them. You discover their pasts, wait patiently like a hunter in a bush, and then when they say a single word or manifest in the wrong place at the wrong time, you pounce on them. This is not a game for the thrill-seeker: this is a game for the kind of unhinged maniac who is more than willing to spend hours of their time posted up in a hallway waiting for a ghost to manifest for a few seconds or sit there and wait for a poltergeist to throw some plates around. You don't just find a ghost, you LEARN about that ghost. You get in their head, find their backstory, know who they are and why they're there. And then, when the time is right, you send that ghost straight to hell. In all seriousness though this is a very good ghost-hunting game that rewards patience and thoroughness, and every individual ghost hunt is as thrilling as it is eerie. My only criticism is that the game feels somewhat unfinished: I get the sense that there were supposed to be a lot more tools, a lot more ghosts and locations, and more gimmicks and mechanics than what's currently in the game. It's still full of content though and very impressive for an indie game, I just wish there was more. (I also think a tutorial using the hub area would be cool.)
