About
Among the Whispers – Provocation is a first-person single player “Authentic Real-Life Paranormal Investigation Simulator". It's not a game looking to Jump Scare you (although it may happen so don't blink!), instead it's about truly learning about a haunted family and their past.
Operate tools paranormal investigators use in real life to learn about the ghosts that plague this location and what binds them here.
Use provocations to coax the dead in various ways to communicate or manifest. However, beware, trying to provoke a ghost while unprepared can lead to psychological consequences that could make the investigation harder.
So keep your nerves calm!
If you dare, explore this enormous four-story mansion with over 30 rooms to learn about the dark secrets it has been hiding for generations.
Find the clues to slowly piece together the sinful past this family has endured.
Thanks for all the support with my previous work on Conrad Stevenson! I hope this game shows you that I've been hard at work with stronger gameplay, better visuals, and deeper investigations! ~ Kip the dev

I really want to like this game, but I just can't. The developer made all the bad choices compared to the first game. There is only one location to investigate, and it is huge yet it feels empty. The ghosts all feel the same, they are procedurally generated, they don't have unique stories or characteristics. It's just a randomly generated thing from a limited pool of options. The ghost levelling system is way worse than the activity mechanic from CSPPI. The jumpscares are not scary, they are just annoying. The paranoia system and timed investigations are both unnecessary filler content. The focus of the story shifted from the individual ghosts to the story of the house, but it all just ended up being a boring loop of leveling the ghost, releasing the ghost, repeat. The only good change compared to that game is that we can finally use both hands, and carry things in a backback. The only notable new mechanic, provocations, exists. That's it, it isn't good, isn't bad, it just is. I can not recommend this game, when there are other games which do these exact things but better. If you complete the tutorial and one or two other missions you've seen everything the game has to offer. Overall 3/10, if you really want to try this game even after my review, at least buy it on sale, it is not worth full price.
Really interesting premise and I love the atmosphere! However, the use of generative AI to decorate the mansion is honestly not needed.
I am two hours into the game and have accomplished nothing due to game constantly crashing and not saving tutorial progress. P.I. ran so well, I did not expect this one to be so frustrating. (Edit: Steamdeck experience)
I really wanted to like this game, and for a while I did! Pros: - ghost hunting with the ability to turn jumpscares off - Can turn the nerve mode off and not be scared - Excellent setting detail! - Ghost hunting mechs are awesome Cons: - Sometimes releasing a ghost was majorly bugged. At times, I would have to rotate my standing position like 3-4 times because she kept saying, "what was I going to say?" And even when I was able to select a person, hobby, and death, they would just disappear mid-release. I would try to restart the process with the same thing happening. - Having to switch provocations at the computer. If you're on the third floor, it's quite a long walk just to change a question. - Wish there were running mechs instead of walking -The story had an interesting premise, but I'm not sure why the player has to keep going back to the mansion multiple times, only to discover a new family tree with a disjointed storyline. Overall, 3/5
After watching one of my favorite youtubers play CSPPI i rly wanted to like this game it was the next best thing the new shiny game but after playing it for more than a few hours the bugs are always front and center, random times where actions wont react when i press the keys (pause. backpack, walking, tab), just tonight i had all the info for my last release and i did it twice cause the ghost just kept going away (i guess ghost didnt care), weirdly enough too game visuals go muddy/blurry randomly on me, when i started playing i was on a RTX3050 6GB which i though was the issue but after switching to a RTX 5060 and still having that issue i confirmed it was not even running at 720P. this game was something i looked forward to since i saw the demo on YT but unfortunately the released product isnt worth it AT ALL SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO PLAY CSPPI OR PHASMO
As someone who loves to ghost hunt, CSPPI was an absolute breath of fresh air. I played it countless times, waiting for the dev to finish the game off by giving us the missing places he teased on the map. Fast forward a year or so and he announces this pile of garbage. Because of CS I did pick this up, but its trash. Clearly the dev doesnt know the sayin "if aint broke, dont fix it." Look at this now, hardly anyone who cares to play it so he dropped the price to 10 bucks. In all honesty i would turn this off if you gave it to me for free. CS on the other hand, had he just stuck with it would have been a genre defyin slam dunk which true ghost hunting enthusiats would pay full price for, I know i would pay 90 bucks for an authentic ghost hunting game with multiple locations like hospitals, light houses, abandoned jails etc. This game... garbage. I hope he reads it and realizes what a mistake he made with this.
This game is really fun. I like the in depth immersion you get when navigating the interior of the mansion along with the different types of ghosts there are to discover their secrets and help them move on. The use of all the different types of equipment you have at your disposal helps keep things fresh and interesting.
I want to like this game but right now giving it big sad face : (
Buggy as hell. You can't even complete the tutorial without hitting 3-4 critical ones. E.g.: * Map not working at the stage where you need it the most; * Location icons disappearing so you can't assign a ghost to a location; * Relic not being recognized (possibly because you can't link a location, but tutorial prompts don't suggest that). This was my third attempt to do the tutorial, the audio recorded for the cause of death provocation was clearly buzzing wasps and cries. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3599809776 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3599810006 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3599810121
This is a great spin on Conrad Stevenson's. If you liked Conrad, you would probably like this game. It's a fun twist on the genre. After my 2 playthroughs, here is what I think. PROS: - 1; The ghost types are actually realistic. All ghosts are ghosts, they just have different behavior. Unlike most phasmo clones, different ghost types are more like flavor. -2; The research mechanic is gold. The ghost is an actual person that died tragically rather than just some random NPC. - 3; The best upgrade from Conrad is the ability to have control. In Conrad, it was mostly a waiting game. Waiting for the ghost to do this, or that. Here, you can make the ghost do something, which gives the player more things to do. CONS: - 1; There's a lack of explainable mechanics in game. For example, I thought you had to complete all the rooms to progress since every time I didn't do so, I would restart because I wasn't doing the new room. Turns out, you only need to do the new room to progress. - 2; You have to restart to get a new ending. While many other games do this (but most don't, they usually allow you to load saves), they mostly have the ending unlocked by doing different things throughout the playthrough, making each path fresh. Here, it's the same rooms in the same order of rooms over and over again, with the only different choice at the end. The thing that makes the game the most fun is unlocking new rooms. Plus, each playthrough is ~7 hours even if your going as fast as possible. -3; This isn't a con for the game, but criticism for the dev. Cake is cake, no matter the baker, and this game is fun. However, the dev responds to most criticism of the game with a mindset that's not good for game development. When people say they don't like a certain aspect of a game, the dev will respond with an excuse as to why it's actually a good aspect. For example, I said that saving the game after every released ghost would be a good idea because it takes so long to release all the ghost on the map. The dev responded with "I don't see the point if it takes ~10 minutes to complete a ghost". Someone said the story was half-assed. They responded with "I can assure you, it is not "half-assed". Advice, it doesn't matter what you think is good for the game, it matters what the player thinks is good for the game. The main part of the game is "Investigate ghosts with this, release them, find relics, repeat", so players shouldn't criticize this aspect. Any other features that are criticized should be taken seriously rather than excused.
