It is infinitely inferior to CoH2 and CoH1. Graphics: clearly inferior to CoH2 and, in some respects, even to CoH1 (a game that is over 20 years old). The audio is the worst part: explosions, ambient sounds, weapon effects, etc., are of very poor quality and lack immersion. The physics (unit movement, animations, tanks, explosions, etc.) are also very mediocre, even inferior to CoH1. The game has a more cartoonish and less realistic aesthetic, whereas realism is precisely what fans of this type of game and this franchise enjoy (we are not Fortnite players). Combat: there is a large variety of units and tanks, but they do not feel fun or interesting to use. It feels like a watered-down version of Company of Heroes. The cover system works poorly, almost the same as in CoH1. The game is extremely unbalanced (something that also happens in the other games), but here it is even worse. The unit voice lines are disastrous. They are extremely chaotic, unintelligible, and almost schizophrenic. The developers wanted to create an atmosphere of “chaos,” and that is exactly what they achieved: an unbearable shouting match that almost forces you to mute the game. The campaigns are by far the worst in the series: boring and poorly designed. Positive points (so people do not think this is just another blind fanboy hate review): Overall, the game provides much more detailed gameplay information. It clearly explains how veterancy, bonuses, abilities, penalties, and other mechanics work, often including numerical percentages. This is especially valuable compared to CoH1, where most of these mechanics had to be figured out through trial and error. The automatic reinforcement system is, in my opinion, a good quality-of-life feature. The African and Mediterranean war settings are a good choice and provide a refreshing backdrop.
My review is based on PvE, as I don't play PvP, and I've seen many people complain about balance issues. CoH 3 is a very good game, for comp-stomp especially when paired with the Advanced AI mod from the Steam Workshop, which adds a lot of customization options and ofcource better ai. I recommend buying it if you can get it on sale. On the downside, the game falls behind CoH 2 in terms of visual effects and some of the audio quality. CoH 2 handled both much better. The DLCs are quite expensive.
Godawful sequel to a great game. COH2 is 1000x better than this sloppy rehash. If you enjoy mindless zerg rushing and attack move gameplay then this is the game for you. 0 abilities to punish blobbers of infantry or vehicles. A brainless balance team that have no idea what they're doing and are incapable of patching outside of a 5 month schedule. The only redeemable qualities are breach and heavy weapons towing which I'm sure a modder could implement in COH2. Save your money
Your campaign is bad and you should feel bad.
Final nail in the coffin was creating a wave defence mode but selling it as a standalone game. CoH3's been out for 3+ years at this point and the amount of content is dismal.
