Should just have been a DLC, but fun.
Good Co-op Storm comp for 20 APM people like me.
It's a nice little game. I played and enjoyed Company of Heroes 1 back in the day, but never got 2 or 3. This one appealed to me because it offered something different with the defense-oriented gameplay and roguelite elements. Each round lasts about 30 minutes if you make it through the standard 12 waves outside of endless mode, making it a good little game for when you have a little time to burn every now and then. There's only 5 maps, which is on the light side given the price tag, but they are varied enough and fun. Same thoughts for the 4 factions. And there's meta progression with various perks you can get between rounds. Roughly 5.5 hours in I got an achievement for getting medals on all 5 maps (which is not really hard to do on standard difficulty, which is what I chose). I'm surprised to see less than 6% of players have that achievement up to this point in time given the torrent of reviews, many of them negative. Guess they couldn't or wouldn't stick it through. I'd give Final Stand a solid 3/5, a score that I would raise if they added more maps and factions.

The Final Stand is an ok DLC, nothing more, nothing less. Is it worth the price is subjective, but I've been hooked on it since buying. I've been waiting for some commanders to go on sale, but since its been a while from their release and they never went for less than 20% I decided to grab this one while my 30% off lasts. For some reason, you get it both in CoH3 and as a separate library entry, but in there achievements don't unlock, for now at least. So, what did I get for my money? Five maps, all the units randomly unclocking durring the mission, and several difficulty options. The start is a bit slow, you can hardly hope to hit Expert++ difficulties with your stock army, but completing missions gets you perk points, which you can use to upgrade your units, give them bonuses, upgrade outposts to better defend themselves, etc. You have to finish 12 waves, and after that you get the option to hit the endless mode, for now I've only managed to hit wave 17. My friend also started playing and we are having a blast. Some might find annoying that units and abilities are random picks in the mission, but being able to grab whatever you want might turn boring fast using always the same things. This way at least you are forced to adapt and use whatever the game randomly gets you to pick. Reminds of of selecting a random loadout in games like Helldivers.
I've now 100% it and played a few hours, the mode is enjoyable and it's what i've always wanted for Co-op vs ai since i don't bother with PVP. However, there's a few notable bugs that can be slightly frustrating at times (e.g engineers not repairing and for some reason pathing is genuinely horrendous at times with vehicles) it desperately needs something that you can put points into after finishing a perk tree, take notes from Starcraft 2's co-op mode and let us upgrade stats bit by bit with every level we go up. Overral, it's solid and fun for someone who enjoys PVE like me.
It's currently not too amazing, especially for its price. I can definitely see ways to get better; the ideas are there. The randomized unit selections and unit buffs allow you to veer away from a singular meta unit type being used at all times (except Wehrmacht bunkers...). The randomized enemy types require you to find ways to make your composition flexible enough to deal with everything, from long-ranged artillery to super tanky boss-wave infantry. despite your randomized unit selections. Some unit disadvantages can be covered by simply playing more creatively, given the unit and perk abilities. It's fun when it works. However, there are FIVE maps, four of which play the exact same because it's the same three-parallel-attack-lanes defense map. I don't know why it can't have even slightly different setups; a map with four lanes, map where the HQ is in the center and enemies come from every direction, maybe a map with single chokepoint but the enemies are super buffed and numerous. There's also nothing more to do after beating Expert3 difficulty; you could grind the perk points to get stronger, but to what end, if you already can beat the hardest content handily? It could get better with more stuff to do: more maps, some balance fixing, and a lower price point. All of which are expectations of an Early Access indie game, but this isn't one, which means there isn't actually such a promise.
正直期待していたDLCの内容からかけ離れている 敵の出現の仕方のランダム性とか、エンドレスモードの仕様とか、パークポイントが勢力ごとに分かれているとか 内容薄いのにやらされている感が不快
Honestly only negative reviewing because the price. Its such a insult. I don't understand how you are THAT desperate for money, if you make good stuff, you will get way more money. I can't blame the actual developers for it. Because its decent, sure it could need more content but its decent. I enjoyed it. However whoever is deciding the pricing, the route of this game and going towards this anti community focus development really needs to be fired yesterday. You managed to take a great franchise and made your own fans turn against you. And to be entirely real. It isn't that hard to please the fans. Especially when you have done it before. Can someone start properly leading the franchise? Get more content in general in the game. And if its that hard, work more with modders. Feels really rookie and cash grabby lately.
Writing a review because once again, a Relic product is sitting with middling reviews because of issues that are sort of not quite exactly about the actual game or gameplay. This is a fun game mode. Is it a full game? Not really. Is it worth the price? That depends on how much you value skin packs, and if you already own Coh3 or not. But a lot of those things are personal/depend on if you are in an area where 30 USD is a lot of money (or not). The actual game mode is fun to a degree that, quite frankly, I found surprising. I do not generally play PvE RTS games anymore, because I find them too easy, but Final Stand is pretty challenging, at least before you unlock all the Perks (and you can always play perkless). There's a lot of RNG, but I like that in this style of roguelikey sort of game (don't comment arguing about genre, please I'll ignore it), it makes runs feel less repetitive. Sometimes you'll get screwed by the units/passives you get offered relative to what enemy waves spawn, but that's all part of the fun. Lots of things are rough around the edges; I'm sure other angry reviews will cover those so I won't go into detail. I will say, however, that it's clear Relic did this with limited manpower, and that they spent that manpower where it mattered: in making sure the game (mode) is engaging and fun. If you're worried about getting maximum bang for your buck, maybe this isn't for you. But if the price tag isn't particularly meaningful, or if you're already a fan of CoH3 and want a chill(er) wave defense mode to play solo or with a friend, this is definitely worth picking up. *My playtime isn't accurate as I launch the game thru CoH3 -- I left the game open via the Final Stand launcher long enough to allow me to write this review
