Playing Cold Vengeance, you can tell this is likely Renegade Sector's first foray into 3D games; it's a notably less polished experience than later titles. The inability to turn around is an interesting constraint, one further explored in other RS games, but here the limited free-aim feels a bit clunky, fighting you at the edges and clipping in confined spaces. One unfortunate close-quarters boss fight in particular brings all of this into sharp relief. It's frustrating, but thankfully not overly difficult, so it's not long until we're back in business running and gunning. Overall, it's a characteristically fun and no-nonsense game with bright, crisp visuals, interesting level design and satisfying power-up synergies.

This is a very lazy low effortd low poly 3D third person shooter built with the crappy Unity engine. Control some kind of generic low poly "tough guy" against a series of increasingly outlandish low poly enemies. The game displays okay in 4K thanks to Unity. The graphics, as the screenshots show, are terrible low quality, very lazy, everything looks ugly and unpleasant. Gameplay is equally awful. This game will be unplayable for many as the developer chose to map gaming peripherals (HOTAS, Pedals, Racing Wheels etc) as if they are console peasant childrens toy gamepads. This makes the player move constantly in one direction and makes the game completely unplayable. The developer didn't include sufficient control customisability to disable this, which they might have done if they tested the game properly on PC. That's not the worst problem, however. The developer is charging an insane $14.50 for this lazy shovelware. The same price will get you games like Shadow of War or Bioshock Infinite. There's no way this retro low poly crap comes even close, so I can't recommend it.

A uniquely modern take on the arcade style scrolling shooter genre that takes full advantage of 3D space.
Funky and fun shooter. Wild yet appropriate aesthetics and fast-paced gameplay. Music is solid too. A little janky at times, but nothing debilitating, nor really out of the general feel of the game. Overall, super fun, silly, and awesome.
Cold Vengeance is a neat little 3D shoot 'em up that's drenched in 90's nostalgia. The story is pretty non-sensical, but not self-serious in any way. The music is serviceable (if a bit repetitive), and the art-style is about as good as one could expect from something that pays homage to N64/PS1 era games. I enjoyed my time with it, but I don't know how much more I'll end up playing it, as it's not engaging enough for me to want to keep coming back to it. I'd recommend waiting for a sale before taking the plunge. If you're interested in what the gameplay looks like, I made a gameplay video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddM4SzTP-iQ
Not as refined as some of the dev's more recent works, but the core gameplay is still quite fun. The upgrades system is nice in a classic shmup sort of way - it feels good to get on a streak, stack a few upgrades, and mow down enemies even faster. There's a lot more dialogue here than in some of the other Tales games - many bosses talk to the player, there's a Soviet scientist in their head, etc - and it's funny and lighthearted.
