Reviews
wasn't really my type of game, so I ended up refunding it. The graphics are good, the sound design is solid, and the overall presentation is well done. I can definitely see why some people enjoy it, but the gameplay style just wasn't for me. It's not a bad game at all—it simply doesn't match the kind of games I enjoy playing.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Masochistic, Git Gud gameplay? Check! Ultimate Wi Fu creator, minus a decent selection of clothing? Check! Good Story? Only if you like anime vampire themes, at least none of the main characters are attending high school, forcing us to play through through typical, teenage super hero, anime trope. I am not a fan of anime stories for the most part, but it is a solid game as far as actual play style. Why did I get it if I am not anime fan? Elden Ring wasn't on sale! LOL
I do like the anime aesthetic, and the character creator is genuinely one of the game's strongest features. You can customize your character almost exactly the way you want, and some of the designs look fantastic. Unfortunately, that's where most of my praise for Code Vein ends. The combat quickly became repetitive and uninteresting. While the Blood Code system itself isn't particularly difficult to understand, constantly swapping Codes and hunting down items just to unlock or master them feels more tedious than rewarding. Instead of encouraging experimentation, it often feels like busywork. The enemies are incredibly repetitive, and the bosses are largely forgettable. Most of them don't introduce interesting mechanics; they simply hit harder, become tankier, and chain together longer attack strings. By the final four or five areas, I was no longer having fun—I was simply forcing myself to reach the credits. The level design doesn't help either. Many areas are linear however the environments that look nearly identical sometime confuse the player. The lack of visual variety and creativity made exploration feel exhausting rather than rewarding. There are also numerous long, empty corridors that seem designed purely to hide loading transitions, wasting the player's time without adding anything meaningful to the experience. Playing Code Vein honestly made me appreciate games like Sekiro and the Dark Souls series even more. Those games create memorable worlds, encounters, and moments that stay with you long after the credits roll. Code Vein, on the other hand, felt completely disposable. I finished it, put it down, and walked away with almost no positive memories. My recommendation is simple: only buy this game if you find it at an 80% discount or more. Otherwise, you're probably better off spending your time and money on the real Dark Souls series instead.
