Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Sep 4 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

City Life 2008 is a deep and ambitious city-building simulation that reflects a very particular design philosophy from the late 2000s, one that prioritizes complexity, social dynamics, and long-term planning over instant gratification. Rather than simply asking players to zone land and watch a city grow, the game positions you as a true urban planner who must consider not just infrastructure and finances, but the cultural and social makeup of the population itself. From the very beginning, it is clear that City Life 2008 aims to simulate a living, often fragile urban ecosystem where every decision can ripple outward in unexpected ways. The defining feature of the experience is its focus on social groups and how they coexist within the same city. Citizens are divided into multiple distinct subcultures, each with their own lifestyles, expectations, and tolerance levels for other groups. These differences are not cosmetic; they actively shape how neighborhoods function and whether they thrive or collapse. Placing incompatible groups too close together can lead to dissatisfaction, protests, and even full-blown riots, while careful planning and thoughtful separation or integration can result in stable, prosperous districts. This system forces players to think far beyond simple efficiency, encouraging a more realistic approach to urban design that mirrors real-world challenges such as segregation, gentrification, and social inequality. City management systems are layered and demanding, offering a sense of scale that feels genuinely earned. Players must balance transportation networks, utilities, public services, employment opportunities, and tax structures while keeping an eye on the needs of each demographic. Roads and public transit must be laid out intelligently to avoid congestion, industrial zones must be positioned to minimize pollution impact, and service coverage must expand alongside population growth. The game rarely holds your hand, and mistakes can compound quickly, making recovery difficult if early planning decisions were flawed. This unforgiving nature can be daunting, but it also gives City Life 2008 a strong sense of consequence that rewards patience and foresight. Visually, the game was ambitious for its time, presenting fully three-dimensional cities that can be freely rotated and explored at street level. Watching traffic flow through intersections, citizens move between buildings, and neighborhoods take shape provides a tangible sense of scale and immersion. The wide selection of buildings and landmarks allows cities to develop a distinct visual identity, whether you aim for dense urban cores, sprawling suburbs, or carefully curated mixed-use districts. While the graphics and interface now feel dated compared to modern city builders, they still serve their purpose effectively, emphasizing function and readability over visual flair. The game offers both structured and open-ended ways to play, catering to different player motivations. Scenario-based objectives provide clear goals and constraints, challenging players to reach specific milestones under pressure, while sandbox modes remove most restrictions and allow experimentation with city layouts and social structures. This flexibility makes the game approachable for creative builders as well as those who enjoy problem-solving within defined limits. However, even in its more relaxed modes, City Life 2008 never truly becomes effortless; its systems are always active, quietly judging the sustainability of your choices. Despite its depth, the game is not without friction. The interface can feel clunky, information is sometimes buried in menus, and the learning curve is steep, especially for players accustomed to more streamlined modern simulations. Performance issues and minor technical quirks also remind players of its age. Additionally, those familiar with earlier versions of City Life may find that the 2008 edition refines and expands existing ideas rather than reinventing them, making it feel more like a definitive compilation than a radical evolution. Ultimately, City Life 2008 stands as a thoughtful and demanding city-building game that dares to center its design around social complexity rather than pure optimization. It may not offer the polish or accessibility of newer titles, but its willingness to model the human side of city planning gives it a distinctive identity. For players who enjoy slow, methodical simulations and appreciate games that challenge them to think about cities as living, socially layered systems, City Life 2008 remains a rewarding and intellectually engaging experience that still holds relevance years after its release. Bit buggy when you get to higher populations but good
Bello, ma a i suoi problemi, non lo consiglio.
Not a bad game but not amazing either. It's a decent little simulation game that can give some fun, but it's hard to recommend it nowadays when you have the likes of Cities: Skylines, Urbek, Simcity 4, and Tropico, to name a few.
Yes.
Disappointing. It can be very unintuitive at times and despite the level of detail, the camera controls are extremely stiff and details are toned down hard every time you zoom out, very weird design choice.
