A walking sim in pirate clothing
Nothing good to say but it is stable, A parrot, a flintlock pistol does not make a pirate game, This is a basic walk, climb and barely fight game, Boring from beginning to end, it is a shame because it is actually well made. the dev has skill but no real vision, and it shows, I was hoping for a real pirate game, what I got was two hours of nothing.
The story was enjoyable and the game played fairly well. I had issues with climbing cutting out and several of the cutscenes ended before they should have. Also the game is short, 4-5 hours tops. With all that out of the way let me offer the pro's... 1. Its a vr game which is very nice 2. Its an interesting story that hasn't been done before (at least in VR) 3. There are a good number of different types of interactions that make the game fun 4. The interaction between yourself and your kind of companion is enjoyable although one sided 5. There are a number of interesting challenges, none that will make it impossible to finish mind you but offer a nice challenge. 6. The story is interesting and makes for a good game Again, I did enjoy the game but it just felt way to short. I'm hoping it continues maybe in further adventures.
Отличная игра приключение! Графика и музыкальное сопровождение на отлично. Собирать сокровища и искать тайники радует! Однозначно рекомендую! Попугая хочется ощипать)
Clanky, boring, nothing burger.
Pirates VR: Jolly Roger, developed by Split Light Studio and published by VRKiwi, is an ambitious attempt to bring the fantasy of being a treasure-hunting pirate to life through virtual reality. From the moment the game begins, it places you on a mysterious Caribbean island steeped in legend, where cursed riches, skeletal enemies, and ancient secrets await. The premise is immediately appealing, tapping into a timeless sense of adventure, and VR proves to be a fitting medium for such a concept. The game strives to immerse players fully in its world, encouraging them to physically explore, interact, and uncover the island’s hidden stories at their own pace. One of the game’s most impressive qualities is its atmosphere. The island setting is richly detailed, with bright tropical beaches, dense foliage, and shadowy caves that contrast beautifully as you move through different areas. There’s a tangible sense of place, enhanced by thoughtful lighting and environmental effects that make each location feel distinct. Whether you’re walking along a sunlit shore or venturing into darker, more ominous ruins, the visual design consistently reinforces the feeling of being part of a pirate adventure. The sound design complements this well, with ambient noises like crashing waves and distant wildlife helping to ground the experience, while the musical score adds a cinematic flair to exploration and discovery. Exploration serves as the backbone of the gameplay, and it is where the experience is at its strongest. Players are encouraged to investigate every corner of the island, solving puzzles, collecting items, and unlocking new paths. The game often presents large, interconnected areas that reward curiosity, and there’s a genuine sense of satisfaction in piecing together clues or discovering hidden routes. Some of the puzzle mechanics, particularly those tied to environmental interaction, feel clever and engaging, making good use of VR’s ability to let players physically manipulate objects. However, not all puzzles reach the same level of quality, and some rely on obscure logic or trial-and-error, which can disrupt the otherwise enjoyable flow of exploration. Despite its strong foundation, the game struggles when it comes to the finer details of gameplay mechanics. Movement and interaction systems, which are crucial in a VR title, can feel inconsistent or underdeveloped. Climbing sections, for instance, sometimes lack precision, leading to frustrating moments where actions don’t register as expected. Similarly, combat encounters, while initially exciting, quickly become repetitive due to limited enemy variety and shallow mechanics. Using weapons like pistols or tools has potential, but the lack of depth and feedback makes these systems feel more like secondary features rather than integral parts of the experience. This imbalance results in a game that excels at exploration but falters when it tries to expand beyond it. The narrative element of Pirates VR: Jolly Roger follows a familiar path, centering on a quest for legendary treasure connected to pirate lore. While the story provides a clear motivation for progression, it rarely surprises or evolves in meaningful ways. A talking parrot companion accompanies the player throughout the journey, offering guidance and commentary. While this adds a touch of personality, the constant hints and interruptions can feel excessive, reducing the sense of discovery and independence that exploration games typically thrive on. The story ultimately serves more as a backdrop than a driving force, which may leave some players wanting a deeper or more engaging narrative experience. Another aspect that holds the game back is its overall level of polish. Technical issues, ranging from minor glitches to more noticeable inconsistencies in interaction, occasionally break immersion. In a VR setting, where player presence is key, these moments stand out more than they would in a traditional game. Additionally, the relatively short playtime—lasting only a handful of hours—can make the adventure feel somewhat incomplete, as if the concept was not fully developed to its potential. There is a sense that the game introduces interesting ideas but doesn’t explore them deeply enough before reaching its conclusion. Ultimately, Pirates VR: Jolly Roger delivers a mixed but intriguing experience. It captures the spirit of a pirate adventure remarkably well in terms of setting and atmosphere, offering moments that genuinely feel immersive and memorable. However, its shortcomings in gameplay mechanics, narrative depth, and technical refinement prevent it from reaching the level of excellence it aspires to. For players who value exploration and world-building above all else, it can still provide an enjoyable escape into a pirate-themed VR world. For others seeking more polished systems and longer-lasting engagement, it may come across as a promising but underdeveloped effort. Rating: 7/10
Gra przyjemna. Ładne widoki, trochę wspinania, łamigłówek i walki.
Haha, I put on a hat using telekinesis, but it's a shame I can't touch the parrot. It's cool that I can complete quests or just enjoy walking around the island, taking in the views or exploring the whole location, collecting coins, cups, and other treasures. Dude, it's so cool.
