I want to start this off by saying I love Christmas themed HOGs and I am usually a big fan of Elephant Games but this game was a disaster. The art is lovely, as always, and the voice acting was also good but the characters were sorely lacking in personality. I'm not sure what we're supposed to feel for the engineer, is he meant to be some sort of chaotic neutral fairy guide? I disliked him immensely and the concept of the train stealing people until they atone for their Christmas related sins was nowhere near what I thought this was going to be based on the game description. My biggest gripe, however, has to be the puzzles. A lot of them were decent, some of which were admittedly difficult but some of them simply didn't work. I'd put the pieces in the right spots and nothing would happen. I'd exit the puzzle, re-enter, move things about, but nothing would accept the thing as finished until I clicked 'Skip'. The answer was what I was putting in but it wouldn't finish and let me continue unless I skipped it. This is ridiculous, is it a hit-box issue? I played this game for three hours, including the bonus chapter, and have to say the only thing I really enjoyed was the bonus content. Also, you can't actually complete the collections unless you play the bonus chapter! I couldn't figure out what I was missing before I played it and then found the remaining puzzle pieces, morphed objects and collectibles after the actual game. Not going to lie, I've asked for a refund for this one.
This is one of the best hog Christmas games I have played in a long time. Beautiful artwork, great voice overs and great music. I can't recommend this Christmas game enough (with an interesting story so far too...just getting into it still). The game does feature perks such as a map and strategy guide as well as tell you on the map if your missing a collection item in any locations (always a welcome feature)!!
Girlfriend says it's cute :3
Kind of a follow-up to my review of A Christmas Carol. The Enchanted Express seemed less challenging and didn't really have a good variety in puzzles. The hidden object parts were somehow less satisfying to play, it was a bit different in the sense that for most of them you had the shadows/shapes of the objects given. The story was... idk, the conductor's measures seemed way exaggerated, but at least it was concise. Just not very interesting. I feel like I breezed through this one without a real satisfaction at progressing. I am sure there are better parts in the franchise.
Well, this time you hop on board a mysterious express train to try and protect your brother. Thing is, this particular enchanted train is for all the bad girls and boys, and you... weren't supposed to be here. Your only chance of leaving with you brother is to go through three tales and save each Christmas? Recommend.
I'd buy this for $4-$7 but $14 was a bit steep for a few backgrounds with confetti, snow, and lights ♥♥♥♥ all over it.
A run-of-the-mill Christmas-themed puzzle game; the mechanics and most of the minigames are identical to the other Christmas Stories releases. The graphics are too kitschy and vibrant, marring the experience. The train ride is only a frame narrative for several unconnected stories (which have cute premises, but are too short and clichéd to leave a mark). The HOPs and minigames are okay, rather on the easy side. The gameplay is mainly about finding small figurines, each of them useful only to find the next figurine. The bonus chapter is a letdown, as it just recycles backgrounds from the main story. Seems this game was made in a rush, and it shows.
Loved this one! Very fun atmosphere on the train, very festive. Great puzzles and mini games to enjoy throughout the main story as well as the bonus story. Really enjoyed the 3 tales that you play through in the main game.
Очень мило и атмосферно.
