Capitalism 3 some say like it's a bad thing. Capitalism 3 ! I've been waiting... For twenty years or more I would, every now and then nostalgically do a Google search for 'games like Capitalism II' and here it is! Whoop whoop. I bought it straightaway and don't regret it. CEO is terrific. But yes, there are some glitches as one would expect with the mechanics of something this complicated. Developers listen up; I'm playing head to head with my bud and we set the game to 1 region, no ports, 10 million start, with six AI competitors. It was thrilling. Many games were played with each of us getting the trophy. At that difficulty level, in that scenario, we had to start with a farm and sell meat and try for the pet food or timber or textiles etc, until I learned how to manipulate my stock. Here's how it's done: I build a small farm and medium store and get some income so the bank likes me. Then I borrow as much as possible regardless of the rate and buy up my stock while its cheap. Then I issue twenty thousand shares (only) and instead of my stock going down as one might expect in the real world, this game jumps it up! My share price goes from $24 to $32 the same day, and when I do it again with 20K more shares, it goes to to $48 and then to $56 and then to $80 and then i sell as much as possible at the top. I can raise about $50 million. THEN THE REALLY INTERESTING THING HAPPENS - there's a 50/50 chance the stock will crash to $.10 cents allowing you / competitors to buy it all up again for a few thousand bucks. So, as fun as something like this is to discover and prove, it ruined the game with my friend because now instead of enjoying CEO we are competing in a sad variation called 'Stock Fraud'. And worse - we can't even cheat equally. Just I'm playing Stock Fraud it seems because my pal claims to be unable to replicate my process. So there's that. But otherwise the game is fantastic!
Game is a lot of fun. I just wish resources didn't dry up so fast. I also want real estate to play a bigger role, with options to rent or lease property.
money
Dead game.
Normally I would give a thumbs up review to game that I got my money's worth (almost 50 hours played for game that cost < $20), but not this time. Almost 3 months ago, found a bug where a factory had all of the resources, but wasn't producing the finished goods. Absolutely no response from the developer. Would have tolerated an occasional crash, but not type of bug. To those not familiar with the game, it is Capitalism reboot w. crude graphics, but a very polished, updated UI. It's was Glidercat's Let's Play videos that sold me. Read up on Capitalism: If you don't like the game play, you won't like this game either.
Game is abandoned, but it's not bad. Worth, maybe?
Its capitalism 2 but modern, more intuitive, better looking, with better and more complex chains of production. What more could you ask out of a game like this?
The premise of this game is that you're CEO of a corporation, and you need to build farms, factories, and stores, and manage supply chains. While the premise sounds promising, I feel like this game needs more polish. First off, the tutorial is poorly structured. It's split into four separate sections that don't connect together, and you can't continue playing after finishing the tutorial to experiment. It would be much better as one cohesive tutorial that shows how systems work together. The tutorial also doesn't explain many other features that are visible in the side menu. For example, I wanted to make beer, which needs barley and aluminum. I set up the aluminum and it worked fine, but the barley farm just said 'waiting' with no explanation. The tutorial covered farming animals but not crops. Is it different? Am I missing something? Turns out I was just impatient, but it took 2 in-game years for it to start producing, and the game didn't explain anything. Secondly, the UI is a bit clunky, giving me Windows 98 vibes, with icons that look like temporary assets. There are a lot of windows, numbers, charts, sliders. The UI feels a lot more complex than the game actually is. So this game has potential but it isn't worth the price (15€). It's too dry and confusing, and doesn't feel satisfying.
7.5/10. Better UI than in Capitalism 2 and everything in the chain is easily accessible. Doesn't mean that UI is perfect, but far better than in Capitalism 2. I hope that developer releases more updates.
