Surprised I haven't written a review for this yet but the rap album/walkthrough coming out followed by the announcement of all the switch updates (and official modding support) coming to pc has spurred me to write one finally. This game has become the backbone of so many other game series its insane, Momodora immediately comes to mind as that originally started off as what was basically a Cave Story mod. The art, secrets, boss fights, music, story, characters, weapons, every part of this game is iconic. I still remember fondly of how I first found this game in the Wiiware demo category and immediately falling in love with everything that this game is. The dedication and continued effort to put life in this game well over 20 decades after the original release is amazing (by both Pixel and the community) and truly makes this game one of the must-haves for any library out there.
creo que esto podria ser la historia de una cueva o algo asi

Thanks for patching the game! I haven't tried the plus version of this game that much, but I have gotten close to beating the original. This game was so impactful for indie games and is truly a hidden gem now a days. Try the free version or get this when it's on sale. THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD OH MY GOSH!
It's the father of the indie game genre, play it if you want to be cultured
final boss gave me anxiety. you can't skip speeches even the repetitive ones.
10/10 game. According to my mother, this (the original freeware version) was the first game I ever played when I was 4 years old. Ever since then, this game has held a very special place in my heart. Nostalgia aside, Cave Story is also known as the father of indie games, and it's available on so many platforms that pretty much anything with a screen can run it, which is one of the coolest things about it, in my opinion. The gameplay, story, music, characters, map design, and atmosphere are all just soooo good. Especially considering that this game came out in 2004. The Plus version was even better than I expected. The new graphics are really clean, and you can switch between graphics modes, game speed (50 or 60 FPS), and soundtracks, which are all great reasons to replay the game over and over again. Though, I'd love it even more if it supported high refresh rates like 240 Hz. It's literally my comfort game. I have a special bond with the vibe of Cave Story. I FIND PEACE AND TRANQUILITY PLAYING THIS!!!!!!!! PEAK GAME. PEAK PEAK PEAK!!!!!! DEFINITELY BUY IT!!!
After all this time, I'm really tempted to give this port a thumbs down. Shame on Nicalis for not giving this thing the tender love that such an important game deserves! No wonder Cave Story is underappreciated by the choose-three era zoomers - there really isn't a great way to play the game with Pixel's gorgeous, extra detailed, updated graphics in widescreen with no controller problems, legally in 2026 - 24 years after the release of the freeware version. Why isn't at least the switch port here? I can kind of see why pixel didn't work with them again.
I finally got around to playing this game while going through my back log and I'm in love! Beat multiple times and still not bored. Tenouttaten would play agian.
one of the best & most fundamental, also, i've had no problem running this game, just go ahead and buy this version
I played this masterpiece many times before but the state of this PC version is unacceptable. It's not playable on an ultrawide screen because the image gets totally cropped on the top and bottom. There is a switch version that supports a 16:9 aspect ratio but I'm not even asking for that here, I'm asking for a usable product. Then there is the lack of controller support. Most games will pick the controller that you used last as your preferred input method. This game will not pick an Xbox controller unless you plug it before it's launched. Then you have to go to the settings and select the controller as your input method. Once you get it configured you notice the horrid and outdated controller scheme. I didn't reach as far as to start playing because I can't see a good part of the screen and there was no point but going by the experience that I did have I assume that the glyphs of the controller buttons are not even supported. I can't recommend this version. Do yourself a favor and play the original freeware version from its creator Amaya Pixel or one of the community versions.
