Cave Story+

The game has a full screen mode, and a windowed mode. Both are larger than the size of my screen. There is no way to drag the screen size smaller in window mode. There is no way to set a resolution in the menu. Could be the world's greatest game. Unfortunately it's unplayable.

There is a bug when trying to collect the 5th puppy in which they don't spawn, I would like for you to look it over and see if you can patch it

It's fun, it's difficult, it's nostalgic and worth beating multiple times. It's not a long game but it can be if you want the best ending.

SUPER FUN GAME!!! someone near and dear to me has adored this game for years , so i thought to play it myself. i see why ^__^ i can tell that a lot of my favorite games were inspired by this one too! 10/10

This port sucks ass, and it really hurts. I want to like this port, because of the Steam achievements, but everything else is just so horribly implemented. It also doesn't have Steam cloud saves. The Switch version is probably the best official variant of Cave Story, but doukutsu-rs is apparently a good re-implementation of this game and it's even free. The game itself is pretty damn good though, but I've yet to complete the best ending just because of the lack of cloud saves. Edit (11th of April 2026): Nicalis finally updated Cave Story+ on Steam and brought a lot of QoL changes from the Switch version like widescreen support, updated visuals, a soundtrack player, and even modding support! I've tried the update via the "moddersdelight" branch accessible via the "ModPizzaParty" branch join code, and it's pretty damn good all things considered. It still seems like they don't support Steam Cloud saves though, which is a bummer. Regardless, since they finally updated this version of the game, I'll change my review from Not Recommended to Recommended.
