excellent version of the game with a ton of options, sensibly implemented controller support (which is a weird rarity these days), and baked-in mod support. all that at a price 25 dollars cheaper than the switch version, while still containing more than it, and the deal is kind of a no-brainer

It's still a good game in a vacuum, but it's definitely outclassed by it's descendants. There's still a nice indie charm to the game though, which I found pretty nice. Idk I just don't have a ton to say about it. It's good, but compared to more modern games it pales in comparison. 6/10
One of the original iconic indie games, a giant that small and solo developers have been standing on the shoulders of ever since. Cave Story set a standard decades ago that is still hard to live up to today.
